Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Ben Nicholson-Smith #BlueJays will consider building incentives into contracts on case-by-case basis per LaCava. For example: players returning from injury. Brandon Morrow Cliff Lee
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Curious as to what Padres are willing to listen to wrt Shields. No doubt they would like him gone. Would they be willing to move both Shields and Ross for a lesser package than it would take for Ross alone? I see Shields as a prime bounceback candidate although the $21M a year price tag is daunting.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Cliff Lee I caught that to, that would be awesome and probably come out of nowhere to most fans/media. I wonder how big his market could be? Do you have any thoughts? I think grabbing Morrow and using him as a long-man/late inning reliever could be great. It would be cool to try and convince him to be a RP and if he's more open to it now.

His profile compares well to Mark Buehrle when Toronto traded for him. He also had a career year last season in K rate, which is something.

Whether or not he anticipated possibly being away from his guns in commie Canada, who knows. I do think that the Jays are likely the most talented team that would be interested in his services. Other talented teams would likely have less of an opening in their rotations, too.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Cliff Lee This would be awesome. Low base, and if he stays healthy, he'll probably more than earn whatever the incentives are.

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Luring Burnett out of retirement would be amazing.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Lol he's the same guy who made up the Chavez/Lewis fox report. ignore him.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Fox Sports reports Blue Jays have reached out to agent Darek Braunecker on 1 year deal for A.J Burnett. Fox Sports reports Jays are in talks with free agent Colby Lewis and A's Jesse Chavez. "Fox Sports" = the voices in this poster's head, from the looks of it. Ignored.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Why wasn't his account perma-banned for that? Trolling is not a bannable offense
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Interesting that on Radio AA said that Free Agent deals for players with families tend to be pretty difficult in Toronto. Most guys have kids that go to school in the US so they don't want to move them across the country. He said they've had players choose elsewhere for the sole reason that the other city offered a direct flight to his hometown while Toronto didn't. I'd say that generally thats the feel I get with Toronto as well. Great place to live if you are single and 20-29 but if you have a family it wouldn't be the greatest place to live. If you have a family you are going to want to live in a house and considering where RC relative to the housing areas is then you gotta deal with traffic etc..
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Trolling is not a bannable offense Putting general board bitterness aside though, this isn't trolling. Spreading false reports is definitely bannable. Also, just because someone got away with something doesn't imply tacit approval from the mods. Some stuff falls through the cracks. It's bound to happen. We're not always on top of everything and it's annoying when some larger conclusions are drawn from that. Finally, reporting is not a bannable offense in and of itself and it's annoying to have this stated so often. Judicious reporting is super helpful. The only thing that's problematic is being spammed by constant reports for the same thing. Reporting doesn't guarantee an immediate response or even any response but it does help. That being said, you wan't always get what you want from the mods and you have to be willing to just let it go sometimes. If you really aren't comfortable reporting or IMing mods than at least have the decency not to complain about posters not getting banned. It's really annoying to have to read complaints about a situations not being dealt with when they weren't brought to our attention in the first place (either through reporting or IM). Again, bringing it to our attention doesn't guarantee action but even when we don't act immediately, we do take note of complaints and that can lead to action down the line if not right away. Sometimes we're slower than we should be, sometimes we just don't see it the way you do and sometimes we're just flat out wrong. I don't think any of that means you can't work with us. z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 lol JP Morosi just mentioned a Walker for Pillar deal on the fan. Does he read this forum? If so, did he not read all the responses that that deal was Uber slanted for the Jays?

I would love to see that approach here.
