Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Jim Callis on Jays upcoming season's breakout player... Blue Jays: Enmanuel Bonilla, OF (No. 24) Signed for $4.1 million last January, Bonilla got his career off to a solid start with a .307/.407/.429 line and 127 wRC+ over 50 games in the Dominican Summer League. The 6-foot-1 outfielder is expected to grow into at least above-average power as he matures, so expect that slugging percentage and three-homer total to climb as he moves stateside. If it truly pops like it could, he could easily end the season as a Top 10 or even Top 5 prospect in the Jays system.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Jays linked to sign these kids in the upcoming IFA... 35. Franklin Rojas, C, Venezuela Born: March 20, 2007. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 5-10. Wt.: 170. Team: Blue Jays Rojas represented Venezuela first at the U-12 World Cup in 2019 in Taiwan, then again in 2022 in Venezuela at the U-15 World Cup Americas Qualifier. He has a medium frame that’s strong for his age, without a ton of physical projection but already making hard contact with good swing path and bat-to-ball skills. His high baseball IQ is an asset behind the plate, where he projects to stick with good catch-and-throw skills and a solid-average arm. 40. Junior Arias, OF, Dominican Republic Born: Oct. 6, 2006. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 6-4. Wt.: 190. Team: Blue Jays Early in the scouting process, Arias stood out for his physicality and power potential. He’s strong with more room to fill out and already can punish the ball when he connects with what should be at least above-average raw power. Arias still has things to iron out with his swing and approach, resulting in up-and-down game performance and a power-over-hit profile. He’s a below-average runner who fits best defensively in an outfield corner. 46. Pascual Archila, OF, Venezuela Born: Jan. 23, 2007. B-T: L-L. Ht.: 5-10. Wt.: 165. Team: Blue Jays Archila is a Venezuelan outfielder who has been training in the Dominican Republic. He’s an instinctive player who impressed scouts with his feel for hitting in a skills over tools package. He has a loose swing from the left side that’s short, simple and results in a lot of contact against live pitching with doubles power. Archila has played center field, though he isn’t a true burner runner, so he could move around all three outfield spots. 50. Angel Guzman, SS, Dominican Republic Born: Dec. 7, 2006. B-T: B-R. Ht.: 5-10. Wt.: 160. Team: Blue Jays Guzman is a smaller-framed shortstop with a good mix of athleticism and skills. He’s a high-contact hitter from both sides of the play, spraying the ball around the field with a line-drive approach and occasional doubles. He moves around with easy actions at shortstop, where he has good body control, is fundamentally sound for his age and has an above-average arm, giving him a good chance to stick at shortstop.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Pascual and Guzman sound pretty good
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 BA's Jays '24 Breakout candidates... Breakout Prospects Enmanuel Bonilla, OF Preseason rank: 11 BA Grade: 50. Risk: Extreme. TRACK RECORD: Bonilla garnered the largest bonus in franchise history for an international amateur when he signed for $4.1 million. His was the fourth-highest bonus for any international signee in 2023. Highly regarded for his combination of hitting ability and present power, Bonilla debuted in the Dominican Summer League and hit .307/.407/.429 in 50 games. Bonilla is likely to make his U.S. debut in 2024 in the Florida Complex League. SCOUTING REPORT: Bonilla was touted as one of the most advanced hitters in the 2023 international class. He shows present strength and feel to hit with a good balance of aggression and patience. Bonilla is still learning to hit spin and can be beaten by good breaking balls in the zone. He shows good adjustability in his hands, but his lower half and upper halves can often get out of sync, leading to some inconsistent swings. Bonilla has above-average raw power, and showed it in games with a max exit velocity of 108 mph. His ability to hit the ball at good angles and elevate to his pull side portends well for future power gains. Bonilla is an average runner, likely to slow down as he grows into his body. With potential for diminishing speed, he is likely to move off center field to a corner, where he could grow into an average fielder. Bonilla’s arm is above-average and will play in all three outfield spots. THE FUTURE: Bonilla is an exciting young outfielder with potential for an above-average hit and power combination. Scouting Grades Hitting: 50. Power: 55. Run: 45. Fielding: 50. Arm: 55. Landen Maroudis, RHP Preseason rank: 17 BA Grade: 45. Risk: High. Track Record: Maroudis was a two-way standout for Florida high school powerhouse Cavalry Christian who started at shortstop on days he didn’t pitch. He ranked as the 82nd overall prospect for the the 2023 draft and was viewed as one of the top high school talents in the state of Florida. The Blue Jays selected Maroudis in the fourth round and signed him for $1.5 million, their second-highest bonus in the draft class. He did not pitch following the draft. Scouting Report: Maroudis is an athletic righthander with a tall, projectable build. He delivers the ball from a low three-quarters arm slot with some violence in his delivery at release, including a head whack and wicked recoil. Maroudis’ stuff steadily grew over his time in high school. He mixes four pitches: a four-seam fastball, slider, curveball and changeup. His fastball sits 90-93 mph and touches 96 at peak with above-average ride and good plane. Maroudis’ primary secondary is a low-80s changeup with good velocity and vertical separation off his fastball. Maroudis mixes two breaking balls in a low-80s slider and a curveball in the mid 70s. The slider is a newer addition to his repertoire but has overtaken the curveball in effectiveness. Maroudis shows average command of his secondaries. The Future: Maroudis is an exciting high school righthander with starter traits and the makings of an average or better three-pitch mix. Scouting Grades Fastball: 55. Curveball: 45. Slider: 50. Changeup: 60. Control: 50. Sam Shaw, 2B Preseason rank: 28 BA Grade: 45. Risk: Extreme. TRACK RECORD: Shaw was a draft find for the Blue Jays in their own backyard. He was a well-known Canadian amateur who attended high school in the United States before moving back to Canada. The Blue Jays drafted Shaw in the 12th round in 2023, signing him for an above-slot bonus of $282,500. He debuted in the Florida Complex League playing in nine games. SCOUTING REPORT: Shaw is a hit-over-everything second baseman with an advanced knowledge of the strike zone and excellent barrel control. His carrying tool is hitting, with a swing designed for a high rate of line drives and balls to the gaps. He is rarely fooled and shows the ability to spit on breaking stuff on the black. Shaw should hit for high averages while running near equal strikeout and walk totals. His power is below-average and his best-struck balls come in the form of line drives. Due to his build, he’s unlikely to push below-average power totals. He’s an average runner whose stride is limited by his diminutive frame. He shows average fielding skills at second base and a fringe-average arm. THE FUTURE: Shaw is a young, bat-first second baseman with outlier contact and approach for his age and experience. Scouting Grades Hitting: 55. Power: 30. Run: 50. Fielding: 50. Arm: 45.

This year's version is out now. lol... I'll share BA's top 100 listing... Headshot of Jacob Wilson 76. Jacob Wilson Oakland Athletics SS Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 190 | B-T: R-R Age: null The No. 6 overall pick in the draft arrived in pro ball as advertised, showcasing exceptional bat-to-ball skills and reliable, steady defense at shortstop. Now the A’s will see if they can coax more power out of him while fine-tuning his swing decisions. Wilson has a chance to move relatively quickly through Oakland’s system. Scouting Grades Hit: 60 | Power: 40 | Run: 50 | Field: 55 | Arm: 55 Headshot of Termarr Johnson 77. Termarr Johnson Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Ht: 5'8" | Wt: 175 | B-T: L-R Age: null It’s been a slower burn than expected for Johnson, whom the Pirates chose with their first-round selection in 2022. He has elite bat speed and gifted hands, but he needs to refine his approach to find the ideal combination of hittability and power that made him so attractive as an amateur. Scouting Grades Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Connor Phillips 78. Connor Phillips Cincinnati Reds RHP Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 209 | B-T: R-R Age: null Phillips mixed moments of dominance and times of extreme wildness in a 2023 season that saw him reach the majors. He has the arsenal to be a mid-rotation starter if his control and command can catch up. Scouting Grades Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 30 | Control: 45 Headshot of Luis Morales 79. Luis Morales Oakland Athletics RHP Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 190 | B-T: R-R Age: null A native of Cuba, Morales signed a $3 million bonus with Oakland last January. The 20-year-old threw just 44 innings in 2023, but reached High-A Lansing by the end of the year. The righthander has an electric arsenal, pairing an upper-90s heater with a biting slider from a low-effort delivery. He must prove he can harness his stuff over longer stretches in 2024. Scouting Grades Fastball: 70 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 50 Headshot of Brayan Rocchio 80. Brayan Rocchio Cleveland Guardians SS Ht: 5'10" | Wt: 170 | B-T: S-R Age: null A heady player and standout defensive shortstop, Rocchio will buy himself time to develop his offensive profile. His Triple-A production was mediocre, and he fell flat during his MLB debut, but a big winter in the hitter-friendly Venezuelan League may help him build momentum. Signs point to more of a glove-first outcome. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Field: 60 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Jace Jung 81. Jace Jung Detroit Tigers 2B Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 205 | B-T: L-R Age: null Like his older brother, Rangers third baseman Josh Jung, Jace is a very promising hitter. Few doubt that, but there are still a lot of questions about where he’ll end up defensively. If he can just be a fringe-average defender, his bat will help the Tigers quickly. Scouting Grades Hit: 45 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Field: 45 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Gavin Stone 82. Gavin Stone Los Angeles Dodgers RHP Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 175 | B-T: R-R Age: null Stone got knocked around in his major league debut but returned to his dominant form at the end of the season in Triple-A. His mid-90s fastball, swing-and-miss changeup and impressive durability and toughness will have him in a better position to succeed when he returns to the majors in 2024. Scouting Grades Fastball: 55 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 65 | Cut: 40 | Control: 55 Headshot of Victor Scott 83. Victor Scott St. Louis Cardinals OF Ht: 5'10" | Wt: 190 | B-T: L-L Age: null Scott announced his presence in a big way in 2023, hitting .303/.369/.425 with a minor-league leading 95 stolen bases. Scott is an outstanding center-field defender with double-plus speed, strong bat-to-ball skills and sneaky power against righthanded pitching. Scott’s skills are tailor made for the modern game and new rules. Scouting Grades Hit: 55 | Power: 40 | Run: 80 | Field: 70 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Tink Hence 84. Tink Hence St. Louis Cardinals RHP Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 185 | B-T: R-R Age: null Hence proved he could handle a larger workload in 2023, jumping from 52.1 innings in 2022 to 96 innings in 2023. An undersized righthander, Hence generates mid-90s velocity on his fastball from a low release height and mixes a pair of breaking balls with a changeup that took a big step forward in 2023. Scouting Grades Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 45 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 45 Headshot of Thomas Saggese 85. Thomas Saggese St. Louis Cardinals 2B Ht: 5'11" | Wt: 175 | B-T: R-R Age: null Saggese just hits, plain and simple. The Cardinals acquired Saggese in the Jordan Montgomery trade and he went on to win Texas League MVP, hitting .318/.385/.551. Saggese is a bat-first second baseman with a knack for finding the barrel and getting the most out of his best contact. Scouting Grades Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 45 | Field: 45 | Arm: 45 Headshot of Nolan Schanuel 86. Nolan Schanuel Los Angeles Angels 1B Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 195 | B-T: L-R Age: null Unless Schanuel modifies his hitting setup, a lack of impact power will hold him back from stardom. But after going from the draft to MLB in a month and compiling a .402 OBP in Anaheim, he has the ingredients to be an on-base machine who hits for average and wears out the gaps. Scouting Grades Hit: 60 | Power: 50 | Run: 40 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Ronny Mauricio 87. Ronny Mauricio New York Mets 2B Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 166 | B-T: S-R Age: null A torn knee ligament suffered in the Dominican League clouds Mauricio’s future, but the switch-hitter has above-average power and speed to go with the defensive proficiency to handle second base or third base when he returns in 2025. Scouting Grades Hit: 40 | Power: 55 | Run: 55 | Field: 50 | Arm: 60 Headshot of Jacob Melton 88. Jacob Melton Houston Astros OF Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 208 | B-T: L-L Age: null Melton won the Pac-12 player of the year award in 2022, culminating a climb that started three years earlier at Linn-Benton JC. Melton is an explosive player with the ability to handle center field and enough power to drive his mishits out of the yard. He is a well-rounded player with on-base skills and power. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50 89. Max Meyer Miami Marlins RHP Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 177 | B-T: R-R Age: 22 Meyer made his major league debut in July 2022 and made just two starts before tearing his UCL and subsequently undergoing Tommy John surgery. He was sidelined for the entirety of the 2023 season, but is on track to be ready for spring training. Meyer has two plus or better pitches in his mid-90s fastball and high-80s electric power slider. He is on track to earn a spot in Miami’s opening day rotation. Scouting Grades Fastball: 55 | Slider: 70 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 55 Headshot of Orelvis Martinez 90. Orelvis Martinez Toronto Blue Jays SS Ht: 5'11" | Wt: 200 | B-T: R-R Age: null Martinez rebounded big in 2023 after a difficult 2022 season that saw him hit just above the Mendoza line. Martinez refined his swing decisions and showed maturity at the plate, forcing pitchers to work. He possesses some of the best quality of contact in the minors, as he shows the ability to consistently backspin flyballs to his pullside. Likely to move away from shortstop, Martinez has seen time at both second and third base. Scouting Grades Hit: 45 | Power: 60 | Run: 45 | Field: 45 | Arm: 60 Headshot of Drew Gilbert 91. Drew Gilbert New York Mets OF Ht: 5'9" | Wt: 195 | B-T: L-L Age: null The focal point of the Justin Verlander trade with the Astros, Gilbert has solid average-to-above tools across the board and a strong competitive makeup. He could be an MLB contributor in the second half of 2024, with his value keyed by his mature hitting approach and on-base skills. Scouting Grades Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Field: 55 | Arm: 60 Headshot of Yanquiel Fernandez 92. Yanquiel Fernandez Colorado Rockies OF Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 198 | B-T: L-L Age: null Dating back to his days as an amateur in Cuba, Fernandez has long possessed outlier power. Blessed with special hands, Fernandez shows the ability to hit the ball out of the park even when he’s fooled. A classic corner outfield masher, Fernandez needs to refine his approach to get the most out of his plus-plus raw power. Scouting Grades Hit: 45 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Field: 40 | Arm: 60 Headshot of DL Hall 93. DL Hall Baltimore Orioles LHP Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 210 | B-T: L-L Age: null Will Hall be a starter or reliever? He’s almost always started in the minors, but he’s exclusively been a reliever in the majors. Most likely, he’s a power arm out of the pen, but he has the stuff to be an elite closer if he throws enough strikes. Scouting Grades Fastball: 80 | Curveball: 60 | Slider: 70 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 30 Headshot of Ceddanne Rafaela 94. Ceddanne Rafaela Boston Red Sox OF Ht: 5'9" | Wt: 152 | B-T: R-R Age: null Rafaela is a wizard in center field, and good enough that the Red Sox have had him focus on playing there even though he’s also a capable shortstop. There are more worries about Rafaela’s bat, which may limit him to hitting lower in the batting order. Scouting Grades Hit: 45 | Power: 40 | Run: 60 | Field: 70 | Arm: 60 95. Brayden Taylor Tampa Bay Rays 3B Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 190 | B-T: R-R Age: 20 Taylor was one of the more consistent and productive college bats in the 2023 draft class. He will likely be a second or third baseman by the time he gets to Tampa Bay, but one who should hit for enough power and average to be a solid fixture in the lineup. Scouting Grades Hit: 60 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Andy Pages 96. Andy Pages Los Angeles Dodgers OF Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 212 | B-T: R-R Age: null Pages has long had impressive power and plate discipline, and slimmed down to erase concerns about his long-term athleticism. His season was limited by a torn labrum in his shoulder last year, but he’s set to return in 2024 and shouldn’t have to wait long for his major league debut. Scouting Grades Hit: 40 | Power: 60 | Run: 45 | Field: 50 | Arm: 70 Headshot of Nick Frasso 97. Nick Frasso Los Angeles Dodgers RHP Ht: 6'5" | Wt: 200 | B-T: R-R Age: null The gangly, 6-foot-5 Frasso has an elite fastball that confounds hitters with its mid-90s velocity, explosive life and deceptive angles his long limbs generate. He flashes an above-average curveball and changeup, and has the stuff to impact the Dodgers staff as either a starter or reliever. Scouting Grades Fastball: 70 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 Headshot of Robert Gasser 98. Robert Gasser Milwaukee Brewers LHP Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 192 | B-T: L-L Age: null Gasser was an easy pick for International League pitcher of the year in 2023 after leading all Triple-A arms with 166 strikeouts to go with a 3.79 ERA in 135.1 innings. He is more a sum-of-his-parts pitching prospect who commands a wide repertoire and upsets hitters’ timing. Gasser is ready to make his MLB debut this season. Scouting Grades Fastball: 50 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 45 | Cut: 50 | Control: 50 Headshot of Leodalis De Vries 99. Leodalis De Vries San Diego Padres SS Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 183 | B-T: S-R Age: null De Vries is viewed as the best player in the 2023 international class. He’s one of the most-seen and scouted players in the class, and gives the Padres the only two players (De Vries and Ethan Salas) from the 2023/2024 international classes to make the 2024 Top 100 Prospects list. Scouting Grades Hit: 60 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Lazaro Montes 100. Lazaro Montes Seattle Mariners OF Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 210 | B-T: L-R Age: null A hulking Cuban masher, Montes hit .303 with 13 home runs and 61 RBIs in only 70 games in his stateside debut last year. He’s shown better contact skills than expected and the power to change games, helping him project to be an impact player despite poor defense in the outfield. Harry Ford Seattle Mariners C Ht: 5'10" | Wt: 200 | B-T: R-R Age: null Ford is a standout athlete, unusual for the catcher position, but the 12th overall pick in the 2021 draft can do a little bit of everything on the field. Ford projects to be an average hitter with average power whose on-base skills and running ability are his greatest assets. He’s a fringe-average defender behind the plate with an above-average arm. Emerson is a polished hitter with above-average or better bat-to-ball skills, approach and power. Emerson is the biggest riser post-draft in the 2023 class. He’s an excellent athlete with huge power but considerable rawness remaining before he can reach his ceiling. At his best, he could be a cornerstone in an increasingly excellent Rangers lineup. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 55 | Field: 45 | Arm: 60 Headshot of Brady House 55. Brady House Washington Nationals 3B Ht: 6'4" | Wt: 215 | B-T: R-R Age: null A member of the highly-touted prep shortstop class of 2021, House has been a well-known player since he was 15. After dealing with a back injury that cost him most of 2022, House returned in 2023 to hit .312/.365/.497 over 88 games. House has multiple plus tools in his power and throwing arm, and has taken to his new position at third base. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 50 | Field: 55 | Arm: 60 Headshot of Marco Luciano 56. Marco Luciano San Francisco Giants SS Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 178 | B-T: R-R Age: null Luciano is the top position-player prospect in San Francisco’s system and reached the big leagues in 2023. He still has some polish left to apply, but at his peak he could be an offensive force. Where he’ll play in the field is less certain, and his profile will likely always be offensive-driven. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Field: 50 | Arm: 60 Headshot of Bryce Eldridge 57. Bryce Eldridge San Francisco Giants OF Ht: 6'7" | Wt: 219 | B-T: L-R Age: null For the second straight season, the Giants took a two-way talent with their first-round pick. Eldridge did not pitch as a pro, but impressed scouts with his combination of mature at-bats and big-time power at the lower levels. His bat might be his best bet long term. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 30 | Field: 50 | Arm: 55 Headshot of Drew Thorpe 58. Drew Thorpe San Diego Padres RHP Ht: 6'4" | Wt: 190 | B-T: L-R Age: null Drafted by the Yankees in the second round in 2022 and traded to San Diego in the December Juan Soto deal, Thorpe made High-A hitters look foolish with his double-plus changeup. His success continued at Double-A late in 2023, and if that trend holds, then he could be in line to make his MLB debut in short order. Thorpe gets results more with pitch variety and precision, but his feel for offspeed is a separator. Scouting Grades Fastball: 50 | Curveball: 40 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 60 | Cut: 40 | Control: 60 Headshot of Bubba Chandler 59. Bubba Chandler Pittsburgh Pirates RHP Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 200 | B-T: S-R Age: null When the Pirates selected Chandler in 2021, they knew he was a project with serious upside. The former two-way talent put away the bat in 2023 and started scratching at the surface of his ceiling. He truly took off in the second half once he began showing better command of his offspeeds. He has the tools to pitch toward the front of a rotation. Scouting Grades Fastball: 60 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 45 60. Rhett Lowder Cincinnati Reds RHP Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 200 | B-T: R-R Age: 21 Lowder had one of the best seasons we’ve seen from a college ace in several years, it just happened to be in the season where Paul Skenes had a once-in-a-decade season. Lowder is a very polished starter who could play a role in Cincinnati by late 2024. Scouting Grades Fastball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 60 61. Chase Dollander Colorado Rockies RHP Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 200 | B-T: R-R Age: 22 Dollander entered the 2023 draft cycle as the presumptive first pitcher off the board in July, but a down junior season saw Dollander’s stock tumble. Though Dollander is yet to debut, he provides the Rockies their most talented pitching prospect in years. When Dollander is on, he features a plus fastball that’s up to the high-90s with a slider that drives whiffs. Scouting Grades Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 50 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 55 Headshot of Kyle Teel 62. Kyle Teel Boston Red Sox C Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 190 | B-T: L-R Age: null Teel’s debut saw him reach Double-A out of the draft, as he impressed with his advanced plate skills, athleticism and catching. One of the more buzzworthy names this offseason, Teel could continue to climb the list throughout the season. Teel has a chance to develop into an all-star behind the plate with strong contributions on both sides of the ball. Scouting Grades Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 50 | Field: 55 | Arm: 55 Headshot of Justin Crawford 63. Justin Crawford Philadelphia Phillies OF Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 175 | B-T: L-R Age: null Crawford did a lot of things right in 2023. He hit the ball hard and often, and showed standout skills on the bases and in center field while tearing up the Class A levels. If he can get the ball in the air more often, he has a chance to make serious noise in 2024 and move sharply up this list. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 40 | Run: 70 | Field: 55 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Mick Abel 64. Mick Abel Philadelphia Phillies RHP Ht: 6'5" | Wt: 190 | B-T: R-R Age: null Abel still has the raw stuff to become an excellent big leaguer, but he’ll need to show better command of his arsenal to reach his full potential as a mid-rotation starter. He could reach the big leagues in 2024. Scouting Grades Fastball: 70 | Curveball: 60 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 40 Headshot of Curtis Mead 65. Curtis Mead Tampa Bay Rays 3B Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 171 | B-T: R-R Age: null Injuries have slowed Mead’s ascent, and his arm will likely limit him defensively, but whenever he’s been healthy, Mead has shown he hits strikes hard. Scouting Grades Hit: 60 | Power: 55 | Run: 40 | Field: 50 | Arm: 30 Headshot of Shane Baz 66. Shane Baz Tampa Bay Rays RHP Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 19 0 | B-T: R-R Age: null It’s easy to forget about Baz because he’s missed a season and a half with an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery. He’s slated to be back early in 2024. If he returns to pre-injury form, he’s a potential front-of-the-rotation arm. Scouting Grades Fastball: 70 | Curveball: 45 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 55 Headshot of Everson Pereira 67. Everson Pereira New York Yankees OF Ht: 5'11" | Wt: 191 | B-T: R-R Age: null Pereira reached the big leagues for the first time in 2023 and should get plenty of chances there in 2024. He has plenty of raw talent and the ability to stick in center field, but his first Bronx cameo showed a need to considerably rein in his approach at the plate. Scouting Grades Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Field: 55 | Arm: 55 68. Roderick Arias New York Yankees SS Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 178 | B-T: S-R Age: null After a fairly nondescript first pro season, Arias exploded in 2023 and starred on an FCL squad bursting with talent. Scouts raved about Arias’ upside both at the plate and in the field, and gave him a real chance to be a player who sticks at shortstop and hits in the middle of an order. Scouting Grades Hit: 55 | Power: 60 | Run: 55 | Field: 60 | Arm: 70 Headshot of Xavier Isaac 69. Xavier Isaac Tampa Bay Rays 1B Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 240 | B-T: L-L Age: null High school first basemen rarely quickly leap onto the Top 100, but Isaac is proving to be an advanced hitter with massive power potential. He slimmed down in 2023, which helped everything play up. Scouting Grades Hit: 55 | Power: 65 | Run: 40 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50 Headshot of Tyler Black 70. Tyler Black Milwaukee Brewers 3B Ht: 5'10" | Wt: 190 | B-T: L-R Age: null Drafted as a second baseman, Black has played outfield, third base and some first base in pro ball as he prepares for a potential multi-position gig with Milwaukee in 2024. He is a disciplined lefthanded hitter who popped 18 home runs and stole 55 bases at Double-A last year to hint at his MLB utility. Scouting Grades Hit: 60 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Field: 40 | Arm: 45 Headshot of Austin Wells 71. Austin Wells New York Yankees C Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 220 | B-T: L-R Age: null Wells has dealt with plenty of injuries over the past two seasons but has bounced back each time and put forth strong seasons. He’s a hard worker who has improved his all-around game enough to project as an offensive-minded catcher who provides plenty of thump. He got his first taste of the big leagues in 2023. Scouting Grades Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 30 | Field: 40 | Arm: 40 Headshot of Chase Hampton 72. Chase Hampton New York Yankees RHP Ht: 6'2" | Wt: 225 | B-T: R-R Age: null Hampton is the Yankees’ top starting pitching prospect, and has the size, stuff and projection that could lead to a future in a big league rotation. He was one of the system’s biggest breakouts in 2023 and could be even better in 2024 as he gains strength and holds his stuff throughout the course of the long minor league season. Scouting Grades Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 45 | Cut: 50 | Control: 45 Headshot of Tyler Soderstrom 73. Tyler Soderstrom Oakland Athletics C Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 200 | B-T: L-R Age: null Soderstrom’s hyper-aggressive approach buckled for the first time in 2023, especially upon reaching the majors. He still packs quite a bit of impact into his powerful lefthanded swing when he makes contact and has middle-of-the-order upside if he can rein in his pitch selection. He could see time at catcher, first base and designated hitter in Oakland if he breaks big league camp with the A’s. Scouting Grades Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Field: 45 | Arm: 55 Headshot of Jared Jones 74. Jared Jones Pittsburgh Pirates RHP Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 190 | B-T: L-R Age: null The Pirates’ system is built around high-upside pitching, and Jones fits nicely in an upper group that also includes Paul Skenes, Bubba Chandler and Anthony Solometo. Jones showed increased maturity in 2023 and made some tweaks to his mix that allowed him to mostly thrive at the upper levels. Scouting Grades Fastball: 70 | Curveball: 50 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 45 Headshot of Tekoah Roby 75. Tekoah Roby St. Louis Cardinals RHP Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 185 | B-T: R-R Age: null The Jordan Montgomery trade may prove to be one of the smartest moves the Cardinals have made in some time, as they acquired Roby and Thomas Saggese. Roby features a mid-90s four-seam fastball, a plus curveball, a slider and a changeup. He has the makings of a mid-rotation starter with four average or better pitches. Scouting Grades Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 60 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 60
