gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I have no problem moving Edwin (or Reyes for that matter), I just don't think the Cards or any team would even consider giving up a premium young arm like him for Edwin. Maybe something like Edwin + Castro for CMart, where the Cards get back a good young arm as well. IMO it still makes way more sense to move a veteran arm. Wainwright is gone for the year and is turning 34 this year. Garcia, or Lackey does not return EE. The only other viable option would be Lynn plus a back end BP arm for EE. Lynn is has more short term value than Martinez. If the Cards are in a place where they feel they can win a WS once or twice with a power threat like EE, they may be willing to part with Martinez. The fact that they are loaded with young pitching may make them exchange that currency for a cheap proven power bat for a year and a half.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Just need Holliday to come back and they'll be fine. With his 3 Hrs? Holliday is a 20-25 HR type, not 35-40 like EE. Also, how sick would it be if Holliday hit before EE? Holiday's numbers would definitely improve.

No but why does it have to be Edwin; All 3 of those guys will get them someone better than Mark Reynolds and that's all they really need. They're already a playoff team,

They're already a playoff team, I realize that they're already a playoff team. The difference would be that there is that 3 run HR threat in their line up. That's huge in the post season.

They need to score more runs than the other team. There are lots of power bats out there for far less; Lind and Moreland come to mind and would cost far less.

EE has average 37 HR in his last three seasons and is on pace this year also. He's more of a sure thing.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted a few weeks ago stroman would be in play. If the team is all in and aa trying to save his job, it's the most likely move. Wrong move, unless controllable talent coming back. Will more likely be similar to last years shark and hammel trade On yesterdays show of Tim and Sid, Blair/JP. Morosi/Davidi said he's not in play according to AA...Jeff Sullivan comes up with a hypothetical he's in play...Gotcha.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Reyes to the Yankees for Aaron Judge please Ninja make it sooo! I will like the Yankees for one week if they do, even buy a ball cap! Lol I do this trade even for PTBNL, yup!
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Not sure if posted yet, but teams have been asking for Stroman :x http://espn.go.com/blog/mlb/rumors/post/_/id/22327/mlb-rumors-roundup-for-july-15

Davidi is a company man. He is spreading that s*** for a reason.

flafson Verified Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 100% on again Lol no team would ask for an injured player You would if you were a seller, like Phillies.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I'd trade Stroman for Hamels + salary relief. Nooo Only realistic trade targets I'd trade Stroman for are guys like Gray
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 100% on again Lol no team would ask for an injured player You really are stupid.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I'd trade Stroman for Hamels + salary relief. Hoffman is Roger Clemens reincarnated right?
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I'd trade Stroman for Hamels + salary relief. It'd have to be like +$15M of salary relief... Rather just hang on to Stro though.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Nooo Only realistic trade targets I'd trade Stroman for are guys like Gray It'd be hard to move him for another pitcher. I'd move him for a long term solution at SS like Seager
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 It'd be hard to move him for another pitcher. I'd move him for a long term solution at SS like Seager That's kinda interesting
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 100% on again Lol no team would ask for an injured player The Jays acquire (traded for) Brian Tallet from the Cards during the Rasmus deal while he was on the DL with an intercostal strain.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 The Jays acquire (traded for) Brian Tallet from the Cards during the Rasmus deal while he was on the DL with an intercostal strain. BC an injured AAAA pitcher virtually traded to create roster room and salary savings is the same thing? Imagine AA trading Halladay for an injured prosprct. Hamels is the Phillies best asset I seriously doubt they would take a risky acquisition like an injured pitcher in return
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 That's kinda interesting Never going to actually happen though
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 It'd be hard to move him for another pitcher. I'd move him for a long term solution at SS like Seager Kyle Seager? Nice bat but isn't there a reason he plays 3B? Is he a viable defensive MLB SS? Yes i know he's a better option than Reyes.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Navarro for Pelfrey in 3..2..1 Imagine all the GB's to Reyes, good times!

Yes i know he's a better option than Reyes. Came up as a SS, thought he was supposed to stick. Haven't paid that close attention to him this season though...
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
