Yep, you're right. I tried, in vain, to cheer for the Orioles a couple years ago when I was getting really depressed, and I just can't. Loving the Blue Jays is like being in an abusive relationship you can't quit. I think anyone here pretty much feels the same way.

Well there is your mistake. Why would you EVER cheer for the orioles? Cheer for a good team that actually deserves to win, like the Nats or Cards.

I'll be done with this team for a while if they make another dumb one. It certainly wouldn't be a surprise since they were in a much better position last year and did nothing so it figures they'll do something stupid this year.

 

I'm too much of a sucker to give up on this team, but yes, if AA trades any prospect of significance to make an unlikely run this season, then f*** him and the organization.

 

Until November when the off-season starts. Then I'll be reeled back in. As always.

oh i know Haren is not a #1 pitcher any longer. he'll give the same number of wins for the best offense in baseball that a Hamels will for an average offence. what i am really questioning is do the jays need to trade 3 top prospects for an ace..... what difference does it make if they win 8-1 or 8-4, a win is a win

Truthfully I believe the organization has come on leaps and bounds in the last 5 years in terms of drafting and developing prospects and raising the payroll to a competitive level.

 

What has hurt us continually since the arrival of AA/Beeston has been a spate of truly awful trades and I'm not just talking about the Marlins and Mets.

Truthfully I believe the organization has come on leaps and bounds in the last 5 years in terms of drafting and developing prospects and raising the payroll to a competitive level.

To be fair, AA has also made some amazing trades. Gonzalez for Escobar, spare parts for Rasmus, Wells and his monster contract for Napoli, Donaldson trade, etc.

Morrow and Lawrie trades were good too. In fact, I'd like to see him get back to those types of deals to round out the roster.

 

We also thought the Saunders trade was a really good one and some of us stand by this opinion.

 

It's also to AA's credit that the team's farm system produced players that other teams coveted in trades. Too bad he targeted the players he targeted, but it's a good thing to have a farm system good enough to allow you to trade for established talent. Gotta choose the right players to trade your young talent for though.

Well, more, but I doubt this franchise would trade either of them and raise the white flag for next year. It's also doubtful that they'd admit defeat and trade Buehrle, but I wonder if he could net the team something close to what they got for Shaun Marcum.

The Travis trade is the only one that comes to mind in which he actually addressed a need and even that came at the expense of weakening the OF depth. Now being able to make a solid mid season move when he's in competition with so many other teams will be a tall order for a guy who has a history of sitting on the sidelines in similar circumstances in the past.

I thought the Saunders trade was pretty good as it addressed LF for 2 years at a good price. And yes, it's wishful thinking, but at this point, I'd rather stand pat than let him overpay for pitching which he has done in the past.

I'd like to hold on to Buehrle beyond 2015, but old man deserves way better than this organization. Either qualify him and get a pick, or trade him for a good prospect and let the man pitch on a contender like he deserves to.
