I read about John Henry in a book called Trend Following I read about 20 years ago.... By all accounts very similar to geniuses on this board who make 7 figures with their trading. You would think they would see a kindred spirit in John Henry??? An accomplished man, a true alpha in the intellectual way. I would speculate that their attacks on Henry and the Red Sox are simply strategical. These high performances complex are maybe helping the pitchers more than the hitters. I hear the Jays have like the greatest collection of young pitchers in generations... maybe just an illusion because pitching at all levels, but even more at the low levels is way ahead? Be interesting to dive into the average slash line in the old Appy and Midwest league vs the Florida Complex League and low A Florida State League. 2. Harsh reality is out of 10 of these international prospects or high school draftees 9 will fail when they first see good secondary pitches and you see it 2 months into A ball. No one can tell which ones so every year we get excited about 1teenagers and by June their done. Kevin Ahrens, Manuel Beltre were high profile ones, who never made it anywhere, hit .230 at every level. And .230 isn't bad compared to some of these guys who can't break .200. They probably don't ever leave the complex and have an apartment with their team mates right by the complex. They get sent down to the rookie league they don't go anywhere but play at 10:00 am instead of 7:00 pm. It depends what you mean by 'losers'. Already I made far too long post on this but they have had great success in the last 50 years corresponding to the Jays existance. 39 winning seasons, 11 losing, a lot of great players, a lot of great stories, a lot of great teams. They had 86, and I think the Bucky Dent thing in late 70s, and maybe some other 95 win teams that couldn't close it. So if the definition of 'loser' is like 'loser' in the 2025 Blue Jays sense of loser (or the 1987 Blue Jays definition of loser), then they are losers. But they haven't been a "non-winning, non-successful as a franchise" since at least maybe 60 years? Now if you are talking about the Great depression, I get it.
