Does it anger anyone else that our closer was used to face hitters 7-9 in a 4 run game yesterday resulting in today’s outing meaning he will be down tomorrow?
There has long been a story that the leftovers from AA's regime had to fight with Atkin's and his people to be able to draft Bo as Shatkins and their people didn't like him. If that's true, and you discount his numbers a lot of these ranks go WAY down.
I wonder how much he would benefit from an upgrade from Augustin Ramirez (still learning how to catch by all reports) to Kirk. I feel like that alone could be significant for him.
Yesavage is too much to give up for them imo but I could see any of those others guys (not sure they get it done but it is the Pirates so you never know)
I am of the opinion that the increased workload is good for Kirk. I noticed many times over the years he would have little hot streaks around the time Jansen would get hurt (and his playing time would increase). I think someone in the Jays management chain incorrectly assumed since he is a bigger guy he needed more rest and more time off despite the success he had in his early years playing more frequently. It's a shame that those assumptions were made.
Clement is already playing every day against lefties anyway so if you put him at 2B then Barger or Wagner have to play against a lefty. I would bet this is one of the reasons they are looking for a right handed bat though.
