  1. Watch him pull a Burnes and sign with the Rays. One, hometown, two, if he wants a pillow contract to rebuild his value, the Rays will be playing in a AAA park outside in the heat where his HRs will carry further.
  2. You obviously don’t understand deferred and owed money. It is money that does not count towards the mlb roster spend but is still owed by the business. Steve Phillips when he was GM of the Mets agrees to pay Bobby Bonilla an amount every year for 100 yrs or something. That money doesn’t count towards the 2025 salary number. However, the org still needs to pay it. A lot of insiders have questioned how much is really available to spend apart from special cost centers set up for the Ohtanis and Sotos of the world. The industry speculation was that if the Jays did sign 3-4 of the big name FAs, it would be only with the anticipation that Vlad’s money would be coming off the books and using that allocation. Rogers being probably THE richest owner, has never translated to spend as such. Plus we have Shapiro, who seems to have a fiscal governor. Regardless, all speculation at this point.
  3. I don’t think we have been top 5. Top 10 yes. There is also money owed vs roster salary for the luxury tax. The $11 million to Straw is still owed even if not on the 40 man. This X post was from August.
  4. It’s not just Pete. It is everyone else they are signing or absorbing contracts or will need to before start of season. Plus, the SPs who are FAs etc will need to be replaced. That will cost $$$$$ By the way, I have heard Vlad is not interested in deferred money.
  5. More so than not the past 2 years or so.
  6. My gut tells me if Alonso signs with the Jays, no Vladdy extension. 1. The reason the Mets would let Alonso walk in the first place is to go after Vlad in FA or maybe trade. 2. Don’t see Jays signing Santander, Alonso and extending Vlad, plus all other pitchers and being within an approved budget. 3. Highly doubt Blue Jays sign Alonso IF they have a sense they can resign Vlad. Alonso = Vlad traded at deadline or if playoff team, leaving the org for a comp pick.
  7. This is the same dude you posted saying Burnes was signing with the Jays, correct? Extension vice Expansion ;)
  8. While the first half of 2015 wasn’t what we expected. The Jays had still traded for Josh Donaldson and signed Russell Martin the previous off season. They also were plus 150 or something in the runs column. So, it wasn’t all doom and gloom the first half of 2015/2014 off season, going into ST etc.
  9. Both Ben-Nicholson Smith and Shi David highly criticized the move in multiple articles. They both cited other MLB executives. In one article one MLB executive says that the Guardians schooled us and are astatic in getting us to take all their dead money contracts off their hands. Freeing up that money up for their own upgrades.
  10. Ha! I thought he was going to the Red Sox… Still room for improvement with the Dodgers in CF and LF :;)
  11. Where will we be at with the 40 with the addition of Straw plus any additional FAs?
  12. The only other positive spin I can put on it is that they think Varsho will be out longer than originally estimated and they like Straw’s upside vs internal options.. Disseminated on behalf of Shatkins LLC Public Relations Firm
  13. The Dodgers just did another trade for pool money with the Reds. $1.5m. Just goes to show the Jays didn’t need to premature ejaculate. There was money out there once they had a commitment.
  14. Or old Godzilla movies when he used to destroy Tokyo…
  15. Harold Reynolds was a co-conspirator! The clock is ticking for starting pitcher Roki Sasaki to decide which MLB team to sign with. On a recent edition of MLB Hot Stove on MLB Network, two analysts revealed what they believe the chances are that Sasaki does not join the Los Angeles Dodgers. The reigning World Series champions are viewed as the frontrunners for Sasaki. Analyst Matt Vasgerian settled on a 50 percent chance. Meanwhile, analyst
  16. Why are you guys bitching about salary caps!!!??? The Dodgers signed him to a minor league contract and he is not eligible for arb until 2 years. The IFA pool is already capped and had penalties and restrictions. The choice of the Dodgers in this case was not money.
  17. I somewhat admire Shatkins going balls deep to try and make it happen. Always the BFF, never the one they want to marry and f***.
  18. Clearwater/St Pete is the closest. Might not have as many long haul direct flights as TPA . However, a private jet might go to a General Aviation airport of which there are many in the area.
  19. I saw an NHL player do a tax breakdown of playing in North America with a $1m dollar contract. You end up with mid $400s ~ after agent/taxes etc, etc.
  20. Nobody is has posted that Minter signed with the Mets??
