  1. Deferrals do mean they will receive less money since the value of a dollar today is assumed to be worth less in 10 yrs than current value. Additionally, the money up front or larger portion, put into an investment acct or real estate etc compounded over 8-10 years etc at a very conservative 10% is a substantial amount.
  2. https://www.amazinavenue.com/new-york-mets-rumors/89217/mets-free-agency-kyle-tucker-four-years-contract-outfield
  3. I was always assuming it was going to be a 8-10 yr deal. We all saw how much revenue was generated and how much fun the WS was. Don’t get caught up in an extra year or two and torpedo a deal. Getter done!!
  4. There are a lot saying an extra year (4) with the assumption that the AAV would be the same as the first 3. You are technically correct that I don’t think there is anything confirming the fourth year is also $50m. It would make sense though.
  5. Not liking all the attachments Tucker has with the Mets... I hope he really, really likes Springer and Straw enough (for a year).
  6. Do you guys think the 4th yr that has apparently been offered by the Mets is true, or just trying to drive the price up.. $50/4 with opt outs is going to pretty appealing I assume....
  7. The KEY difference is Santander was probably waiting it out to see if he would get a better offer, or offer he could use as leverage.. Which by all accounts never came. Tucker has received his, "better" offer if you just go by AAV and he now has an offer/s he can leverage. Probably going to come down to if he wants to bet on himself and go back to FA in 2-4 years, or is over the FA process and wants the long term security. Options I don't believe were available to Santander.
  8. Tucker has better quality offers and probably only less because he commands more also... Don't think it is an apples and apples competitive analysis.
  9. Tucker has way more options. Santander was/is a mid.
  10. Read further in the thread after that...
  11. Jon Heyman was on MLB today saying that the Blue Jays have been flirting with Tucker for 2 months + and he feels if Tucker really wanted to go to Toronto he already would have. I don't necessarily agree with that assumption. However, it does give me some doubt (sinking feeling) that I don't like. Having said that, I am optimistic the Blue Jays will step up and give the extra year/s millions to seal the deal.
  12. I might have read some fake s*** then...... My apologies, I'm an idiot... Regardless, my point and estimate reference the Tucker contract probably still holds true...
  13. Quite possibly that is what Boras is asking vs what the Phils are actually offering..
  14. Yea, I think he comes off the books in 2027 with Springer correct? What they could do, is what Cleveland did to us, and package him in a trade (not as the centerpiece) just as someone the receiving team takes on to get our other younger, more talented or controllable player.. I think the Jays FO will have to get creative in shedding some salary regardless if they sign Tucker or resign Bo... It might not be to start the season, but I think by the trade deadline they would want to shed some salary to take on anything additional they would need at the deadline. (All assuming they do sign a Tucker or Bo).
  15. The Phillies media is saying the offer to Bo is $360 AAV $40 Million... Assuming Tucker's contract comes in higher than Bo, which is industry consensus, and to beat the Met's higher AAV on a shorter contract, the Jays would probably need to come in around $385/$390 @ 10?? What say you???
  16. It's a business first and foremost. If the Mets AAV of $50 million is even close, our long term deal would need to be $38-$40 and not heavily deferred. The Jays would have to dump money in other areas. Straw is $11 million a year... The math doesn't math for what he is....
  17. If the Jays sign Tucker, they will almost certainly be doing with the expectation of Springer, Straw and some other contracts coming off book in 2027. Straw is not cheap....
  18. The irony is that a Tucker signing probably means Straw is as good as gone from the Jays org.
  19. Carlos Danger approves this message. We need Tucker or at least Bichette back. I have a sinking feeling, we might be disappointed....
  20. Forret is a good get.
  21. When I think of players sitting out or “load management” in the World Series, I am reminded of the line from the Hangover II. But did you die!? We can’t be putting out lineups with IFK and his type in there against the Dodgers…
  22. Game 3 is the most important non-elimination game in a 7 game series. If they win game 3, good chance they can win the series. If they lose, they are done. Might end up winning game 5 or something, but will still lose 4-2. Must win tonight and guarantees back in TO!
  23. Not having Bo is a HUGE loss... He said he was fine in post game interview.. I guess not.... One of Jimenez or IKF against Yamato, but not both.....:(
  24. Straw better contribute with the bat... Having even one dead spot in the line-up is huge... Rivas KILLED the Mariners and couldn't even make a productive out. Even as a Jays fan I was like WTF is he doing in your line-up and don't you have anyone better..? Edit to add. I have been in Seattle all week (Still stuck here due to the Alaska IT outage) and I asked a lot of Mariners fans the same thing about their black holes in the 8-9 spots...
  25. You don't think they dropped their balls enough making Trey the game 1 starter...? I mean there is only so much you can drop your balls before they get stuck in a crack in the pavement....
