You are leaving out Duval who I believe ended up being the NL RBI leader. A bonafide thumper and played plus OF/CF D. Rosario was hurt the whole year and everyone knew Solar was a better player than who he was in KC. Joc was used in the right situations where he thrived and the fact AA added 5 guys with RR from the Pirates at the deadline infused a lot of energy and motivation a la the 2015 Blue Jays. You can’t just look at a snapshot of wRC+ when building a baseball Team. You have consistently being a slave to stat cast. Comparing a snap shot of known power hitters to Dejong is comically absurd. Semien had some of his worst stats of his career the year before we signed him if you go back and look at baseball reference or some s*** like that. However, he had something like a 1000 plus OPS in his last month of the season which showed he had made an adjustment. To give credit to the Jay’s FO, they jumped on him, probably realizing that Semien’s previous season total was not reflective of the player they were signing. I saw the same in Fantasy and it paid of nicely ;). Point being, to discredit AA by basically saying he threw s*** at the wall and got lucky is showing a lack of understanding how to build a real life winner and not just win the statcast competition. As to the Braves vs Jays and playoff success year over year. . The Jays have not faced anywhere near the amount of injuries the Braves have, not to mention all our appearances since 2015 have been via the WC only…

That team also recognized their deficiencies at the deadline, didn’t rest on their laurels made a shitload of trades and acquisitions and it paid off. It pisses me off to no end we did nothing to improve our offense at the 2023 deadline which set the table for scoring zero runs in the game we pulled Berrios and 1 run the previous game or something like that…..

I heard an interview with Teo this AM as I was driving into work. The context was that another team offered $5 mil more than the Dodgers. Teo stated, (paraphrasing) the Dodgers showed/had confidence in him when other Teams in his past had not. I doubt he was reffering to when he was with Houston. So either TO or SEA. You be the judge….

Do you think Vladdy is going to do better than last year's second half? Value is at a high. 3. One year of control with the possibility to trade again at the deadline has a lot more value than basically two months.

I also caveated Vientos (my preferred target)with a trade a sign deal. i.e, only way they trade him is if the Mets have a 48 hr window etc to sign Vladdy to and extension and get it done.

Makes a huge difference if they trade him pre-season or at the deadline. You would get a lot better return now than at the deadline. Hence if you are going to trade him anyway, do the pre-season!! If they do it with the Mets now, maybe something like Baty, Gilbert and Acuna. I would prefer Vientos in the deal over Baty, not sure if the Mets would do that unless it was some trade and sign deal.

With Shapiro at the helm, that 2016 Indians Team never kicks our ass with Miller in the pen. Say all you want about how good the 2021 team was but it didn’t even make the expanded wild card. Again, the Jays with Shapiro at the helm were being too conservative and they didn’t boost their **** pen enough and early enough (familiar theme) and it cost them. Like L54 said, banners fly forever. I don’t give a hoot what AA left us (which wasn’t that bad) I am still vibing off the 2015 season to this day. Nothing has even come close! As a fan, I want that high again and that is what I want from my FO.

The thing about a wild card team going on a streak in the playoffs, is you need to be a streaky team to begin with. During the season I looked up the longest winning streaks for the Jays teams in the last few years and I think there was one 6 game winning streak. The Jays teams have shown they are inconsistent the past few years ad opposed to streaky. Streaky would indicate long winning and losing streaks.
