  1. Great article about the FA process for Burnes and the Blue Jays role in it. The Jays let him keep a tablet…..😗 https://www.si.com/mlb/corbin-burnes-diamondbacks-free-agent-process?
  2. That’s the guy’s name I was referring to- Frank Hermann. He is our Silver Bullet if there is one.
  3. There is a connection or something with regard to the Rangers. A lot of industry insiders speculated the Rangers would be the third finalist vice the Jays. The Rangers also apparently have top notch facilities and amenities that equal or surpass the Blue Jays.
  4. Then he would have gone to the Rangers or Cubs. Our connection is that Scout/FO guy he has known for years, plus probably a combo of the Ohtani pitch/ facilities, the city/Country and Kikuchi/Munuri saying nice things..
  5. I literally said there are always IFs with pens. It just goes back to hope is not strategy. Hedging and quality late inning depth is integral to bullpen construct.
  6. So, Sasaki technically has until the 23rd to decide. However, I am not getting the sense they would want to announce on a weekend (Unlike the Ohtani Saturday IG post). Then in the U.S Monday is a holiday. MLK day, Plus!!! The inauguration of President Trump. I don’t think it would be smart to announce on Monday. Next Tuesday to Thursday would really be screwing over teams waiting to dip into the IFA pool. Therefore, I am summarizing, we will hear a decision between today and Friday afternoon. I have been wrong once or twice though.
  7. I agree looks much better now. I really liked the Sandlin pick-up. My issues is, there seems to be a lot more IF, then normal IF with pens. IF Hoffman stays healthy, If Yimi stays healthy, If Swanson returns to form.
  8. This makes the most sense and would be better for the overall Team! The domino that would need to happen is we sign Pete Alonso in conjunction with this move.
  9. I know you are trying to put a good spin on it. However a few rebuttal points. If you have money San Diego and Orange County (Where Ohtani lives)!can’t be beat in comparison. The Blue Jays had one of the least amount of player days on the IL in MLB. The Orioles lost their elite closer and half their SPs, as did the Dodgers? Astros lost key SPs, the list goes on. I honestly can’t recall the numbers. However,, I looked it up during the Ohtana saga. There are more Japanese in SoCal area alone then Canada I think it was. Not sure if he would get more endorsement opportunity if he wants it, then SOCAL even with Darvish, Ohtani and Yamamoto in the area.
  10. Just to set the tone. Sasaki went to dinner this past weekend in San Diego with Darvish, Jackson Merrill, and Machado. Might have been more, those are the only names I heard.
  11. To clarify, he had two meetings with Toronto in Toronto? I thought he had Zoom meetings originally with like 8 teams. One FTF in TO and two FTF in San Diego? Am I incorrect?
  12. Canada doesn’t even have a Prime Minister. He would also have to go to some special store to get Saki and Sappo beer and deal with bagged milk and leaning to one side when he walks due to his pocket being weighed down with Looneys.
  13. It’s from the Athletic behind a pay wall. However, multiple shows on MLB radio were stating that today.
  14. Just to clarify for folks. The latest visit with the Padres was his second FTF. When it says he met with the Blue Jays and then the Padres. The meeting after the Blue Jays was the second meeting with the Padres. I recall when buying cars over the years. I went to many dealerships looking for cars. However, I only went back a second time because I had decided on a vehicle from there and wanted to use a previous dealership as leverage.
  15. Padres have told other international prospects with verbal agreements - If they can find another deal, do so.
  16. He had bad experiences with media in Japan. I think he wants a smaller media market. West coast, great weather and location, his bro Darvish. SD, LAD, Jays in that order IMO.
  17. I say Padres. He has strong like Bull connection with Darvish and went to a Padres playoff game in the fall..
  18. If you were on the Bachelor and there were 5 girls remaining that you had to go on hometown dates with before the elimination rose ceremony. Would go on a date with the girl you like the most, first, last or in the middle??
  19. It took 10 posts for someone to bring up Springer's location in the batting order. The Blue Jays saw the metrics with Springer to start the season last year but failed to adapt quickly enough and move him down in the batting order. This was due to a lack of Team first approach and internal politics giving deference to the name on the back of the jersey and the big contract. One of the biggest reasons last season for the Jays getting in a hole to start the season was having one of the worst hitters on the team and even the league at the time getting the most amount of bats per game. This led to the consecutive innings without a run scored in the 1st inning record and contributed to the bullpen pressures and resultant implosions. John has admitted this and it took waaaayy too fnnn long for the Jays to drop Springer down in the batting order and out of the lead off spot. We have seen other teams drop their stars who weren't performing down in the batting order because they had more cajones and weren't scared about wining or " needing approval" from their biggest FA ever. If John didn't have balls to do it, it should have come from the top sooner or vice versa. Springer had his healthiest season as a Blue Jay yet regressed. Springer is in the regression glide path and his value to this team is solely going to be correlated to him hitting 6 or 7th, NOT lead-off. Value as a 6-7 guy who plays solid D. Like an anvil to this team if hitting leadoff...
  20. Cubs signing Colin Rea is a sneaky good pick-up. Cubs are looking good this year with a great farm system!
  21. I guess the Jays had to wait until they were both done at the all you can eat buffet before they would accept their offers.
  22. I guess since the hard deadline is 8 pm ET there is technically still time. However, if there is no agreement with Vlad by now with months to prepare/discuss.. I am not holding my breadth. My gut tells me Jays are at high $29/$30 mil and Vlad is asking for $33/$34. Regardless, if the Jays go to arb this year, I just can’t see them signing Vlad. It says to me there is too far a gap in overall value assessment.
