  1. Actually there is a "formula" for optimizing your lineup (which someone smarter than me can explain) - it isn't highest to lowest OBP.

  3. Yeah those are what I'm talking about......I realise they all have access to a ton of information - I'm just didn't think there were any black and white answers yet. Wasn't TB adding sensors and looking to further advance the study of pitching injuries just last year? That's all I'm saying.
  4. That's the question I'd love to know.......how much do front offices consider mechanics and the unproven theory's around them. Also, the 2014-2015 Indians were in a much different position than the 2016 Jays. If they leave Carrasco and Salazar as starters and they breakdown - then so be it.....the team is building and trying to add assets and in their situation, the risk is worth the reward. The 2016 Jays are built to win now. If they toss Osuna in the rotation early on and he sinks or gets hurt, it could have a significant impact on their chances of winning this year. Perhaps the risk is not currently worth the reward with Osuna. God what I'd give for an hour to pick Shapiro's brain.
  5. Yeah I hear what you're saying - that's why I acknowledged it would depend on whether he wants to bet on himself or not. I suspect relievers acknowledge how volatile they are and thus there's certainly an argument to be made for taking guaranteed money over the higher AAV. I think there's a good chance he'd be more interested in a 3 year $30M deal than a 1 year $15-$17M deal (as he should get more than Madson)
  6. Ryan Madson just got $27M guaranteed. He's only thrown 63 innings over the past 4 years and was less valuable last year than Storen was in either of the last 2 years. Something tells me he'll be able to get a lot more on the open market than our QO. The question is - will he "bet" on himself, take the QO, then cash in the following season.
  7. I'll ask this again. Does anyone think they Jays are reluctant to stretch him out as a starter because he has inverted W mechanics (which may have lead to his previous TJS)?
  8. Are we seriously debating whether Pillar would be the leadoff hitter? WTF. He's a below average hitter in every respect. Even if he makes a big improvement, he likely goes from a 93 wRC+ hitter to a league average hitter. Tulo is one year removed from a .432 OBP, 170 wRC+ season (.391 OBP, 141 wRC+ in 2013) Pillar couldn't touch that level of excellence in his wet dreams. Unless you think Tulo is completely done as a hitter, with no chance to rebound, then any logical person wants Tulo getting more at bats than Pillar.
  9. I like this approach. Question is - is it tacky to put a retired name on one of the new style jerseys...or do you need an old school jersey for an old school player?
  10. Really? 25 coming off back to back 4+ WAR seasons?
  11. How on earth is Dylan Bundy still #25? Also - Bregman and Correa up the middle in Houston is going to be pretty sick...errr, I guess one shifts to 3rd with Altuve sticking at 2nd? Damn that's a nice problem to have.
  12. I think you could also compare him to Stroman....and he worked out OK. Harris was expected to go top 15 and fell into the Jays lap. Same thing happened with Stro. To be honest, if Giolito fell one more pick in that draft - I suspect the Jays would have taken him and then DJ Davis at pick 21 and Stro would be wearing another jersey right now...
  13. TDotttt has insider info. Never question him.
  14. True - but there were also a lot of people who wanted him to catch Martin because that meant he wouldn't "sit" during a playoff game...You let him catch the traditional pitchers where he adds a ton of extra value (which is negated when catching Dickey).
  15. He does look good in a police hat...
  16. And Gibby/AA decided it would be a good idea for Martin to catch Dickey last year. Utter stupidity.
  17. I suspect the ******* who voted for Jason Kendell in the HOF vote this year didn't catch this article.
  18. says TDotttt2005 - his name is in the top left hand corner of his post.
  19. Mike - you must have missed the annual "Sandoval has lost 25 lbs and is in the best shape of his life" report. I think I saw it this morning.
  20. Just more or does the guy doing the interview look like he's got a balding Mohawk or something odd going on? Perhaps just massive power alleys, which may be somewhat fitting for a baseball reporter.
  21. I'd just bat Pompey 9th, JD 1st and then I'd start the game off by telling myself that JD is going to be coming up with nobody out 100% of the time, whereas with anyone else up, 67.5% of the time there's already 1 out!
  22. It appears Jackson is heading towards a contract well below market value (after seeing Span get 3 years $10+ AAV). Signing him would be a shrewd, prudent move by Shatkins with would cement my opinion that these guys are a great addition to the organization. 116 wRC+ vs. LHP last year (111 in 2014). I'm not sure there's any pitchers left who would provide the value Jackson could for this team. My concern is he's probably looking for a fulltime gig to try and rebuild his value (could be looking for a show me 1 year deal) and there could be better situations out there for that. Any guess one what he'll cost? 1 yr $5M? Man - 2 yr $7-$8M would be sweet.
  23. How do you know I wasn't laughing because he's funny? If I laugh at Jerry Seinfield, is that racist against the jewish community?
  24. 2.3 WAR last year
