  1. Shapiro wasn't the GM in Cleveland man. He hasn't been the GM since 2010.
  2. Pretty tough to make those assumptions. Shapiro offers him a 1 year deal for $200 and all the gyro's he can eat and cuts half his responsibilities and you'd suggest this isn't Shapiro's fault? Lets get some facts first. It's like you've already forgotten about JP Riccardi man.
  3. Shapiro hasn't even started the job yet and he's already the most hated man in Toronto. He's going to need half price prostitute days at the dome this summer to regain the fans support!
  4. That's why I say one or the other. I think Sanchez is remarkably more valuable as a reliever (although he wants to start) and Osuna is way more valuable as a starter (although he said he likes the bullpen). That said - we know Sanchez will be stretched out.
  5. For 2016 it derails it. Theoretically, it doesn't derail it afterwards (once his innings are ramped up).
  6. He can buy hookers and cocaine - whooopdedoooo!
  7. Agreed - a very difficult situation. I guess ideally you start him in AA/AAA, limit his innings/usage early, keep his innings down and then have him ready to come up and help in the 2nd half and into the playoffs. Just not sure our pitching will be good enough to leave him in the minors for 1/2 the season.
  8. I worry he's going to opt in and attempt to rebuild his value and cash in next year. Coming into this season, he was lining himself up for a big 6 year $120M contract - then he s*** the bed. I'd love to see the Jays give him a 2 year $30M contract with a club option or something...although I have no idea what the market for him will be...I kind of think it will be in the 4 year $50M range.....still don't hate that though.
  9. I think Stro, Hutch and Osuna/Sanchez (hopefully Osuna) will be in the rotation and they'll have to get creative on how to limit the innings from Osuna/Sanchez. They need make a decision on Dickey and I suspect he'll be back (not that I love it). I think they have to get 2 starting pitchers which can be relied upon and then they need to re-stock AAA and/or their bullpen with 6th starter depth guys. Personally, I don't see Colon as a fit at all. If we keep Dickey, I think we need someone who's more of a upper tier starter (Price, Shark, etc.) and Colon isn't signing here as our #6 guy. The only way he fits is if they don't pick up Dickey's option and even then, I'm not sure I consider Colon reliable at 43 and 320 lbs.
  10. Should anyone care was Beeston says these days? Thank him for his time, buy him a watch and show him the door.
  11. I loved Parenthood - although it run on NBC.
  12. You're right - they don't. Over the past 3 years his WAR has dropped, FIP & ERA have rose. I get he's been productive, but he's 43 and resembles a butterball. Let's aim higher.
  13. Honestly - you're suggesting we target a 43 year old, 320 lbs pitcher? Who does that? Please, let's aim higher.
  14. That's what I was thinking. I was hoping the Jays could get him for 2 years with a slightly higher AAV - as a 3 year commitment makes me very nervous giving the track record.
  15. Would you guys rather give Estrada 2 years $24M instead of giving $12M to Dickey in 2016?
  16. I don't wish serious injury upon anyone.....anyone who isn't named Yordano Ventura...I think MLB really needs a serious accident to promote the use of the "pitcher helmets"...hopefully we'll see pitchers wearing them next year.
  17. I was thinking the same thing during this segment. I thought surely to god one of these maroons is going to say "well we could go as far back as the '93 Blue Jays, who's pitching was abysmal with Ace Jack Morris rocking a 6.19 ERA, Dave Stewart at 4.44 ERA, Guzman walking 4.5 per 9 to a 3.99 ERA and Stottlemyer with a 4.84 ERA" But no - heaven forbid these guys do a hint of research before being paid to speak on the topic.
  18. I saw a couple walking out of the game last night and each had that jacket on. I thought they looked stupid - even in that setting.
  19. That isn't remotely close to his final line sir...
  20. Where does my boy Pillar land on this list? Like serious - is there anyone on the Jays more "likeable" right now? Not a chance (OK Stro and his legendary comeback is a close 2nd).
  21. It's extremely difficult for Jose to be a superstar when umpires are terrible at their jobs. I do wish he'd hid his anger a tad more, but I understand his position.
  22. Give it a rest - I'm not blind to the truth. I don't think he's the next coming of Robbie Alomar, but I think there's a chance he can put up a wRC+ above 85 moving forward. I'm just not prepared to write off the improvements Goins showed in the 2nd half after 1 playoff series. I'm a huge fan who's caught up in my love for this team - sorry for trying to stay positive....it's kind a fun, you should try it.
  23. Yeah that's exactly what I'm saying. I'm saying players can make adjustments and sustain improvement. Obviously I used a player who's adjustments made a major change (I could have used Zobrist at age 27), but there are players who work their tail off, study film and made steady improvements as their careers go on. Pillar's doing it too. Personally, I love these types of players - the ones who squeeze every ouch of talent out of their bodies. Goins makes changes, shows tangible improvement in the 2nd half (wRC+ of 108), is huge for this team, has a bad playoff series facing a ton of lefties and BAM - the "I told you so" guys come out in droves like they win a metal.
  24. wRC+ by month Apr - 133 May - 100 June - 102 July - 58 Aug - 48 Sept - 139 I'm sure happy the Jays didn't dismiss September as an "outliner" when Joey Bats made adjustments in 2009...
