    Man - the Cards seem to have ruined Walker. I'd certainly see how much they still value him. There's a possibility the Cards and Mets both still value Walker and Baty a lot and won't be willing to give them away on a discount.

    Assuming you can get Baty for a reasonable price, he's is a significantly better target than McMahon and Burger and I'm willing to debate/discuss that with whomever would like to. I'm not just listing 3rd basemen who might be available - I'm suggesting someone who I think is a good target and would make sense for the Jays as they try to re-tool.

    Isn't that exactly what the Mets would be doing? LOL Baty is an ideal change of scenery guy. It's probably settling in that he's on the verge of being a bust....the first extended failures in his baseball career. This could make him the ideal target as he should be as motivated as he's ever been to get to work and turn his career around. No guarantees, but depending on the price, he might be a great target.

    Baty would be an interesting target. He's struggled a lot at the ML level, but has a good pedigree and minor league numbers. He's seemingly been passed by Mark Vientos. I wonder what it would take to land him.

    That makes more sense as I don't recall him ever being some can't miss top prospect. He was a guy with a ton of tools, but he never put it all together.

    It's almost like the renovations made the game day experience significantly better for a wide variety of fans - regardless of the results on the field. That's so bizarre!

    Man - sometimes I forget just how good and how young Soto is. Guy had 9.3 WAR to his name by the end of his age 20 season. Dude was a BEAST from the get-go. He'll likely have 37 WAR for his career through age 25 (Vlad will have about 16.5 WAR). Soto could absolutely be an all-time great when it's all said and done.

    Jays offense is now 1 run scored behind Atlanta on the season - and we are 2 wRC+ ahead of them. That is insane.

    100% If we had this in 2022, we'd probably be talking about multiple playoff wins and the FO and team would be looked at completely differently. Perhaps in 2023 also.

    13th highest WAR amongst positional players in all of baseball. Such a solid all around player. I suspect he'll finally get paid this offseason. It will be interesting to see how much longer he keeps up this production.

    Man - someone is going to give Profar a multi-year deal after this season. I'm so curious to see who it is and to see if he can even come close to repeating the season he's currently having. I strongly suspect he can't. Best $1M signing in MLB history perhaps. Winker is also a DH. Hitting better, but nowhere near the power he once had. Wouldn't touch him.

    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/how-to-argue-about-clutchness/ Decent article on the value of "clutch" hitting. For those who believe it matters. We have the most clutch hitter in baseball this year. Daulton Varsho has been a f***ing machine in clutch situations.

    Man - the Red Sox have to be disappointed in what they got in Masataka Yoshida. Reminds me a bit of LGJ.

    I think his minor league numbers would be factored into the equation - yes, as metafour pointed out. I guess you can say 1000 PA's at the ML level tells you much more and makes those minor league numbers obsolete. I actually don't know exactly how many PA's one needs to start ignoring what they did in the minors....anyone know the answer?

    He's also chasing the triple crown! Imagine a season where he wins the triple crown and is the first player in ML history to go 45/45. f***ing insane!

    Bingo. There was always a probability Varsho's bat was 90 wRC+. It was probably a low probability when they made the trade and he projected to be a 4-5 WAR player. Sometimes even good decisions that have probabilities in your favor, don't work out. The good news is his BsR and Def are so good that even if he's a 90 wRC+ bat - he's still a ML starting CFer.
