  1. Good point. They seemingly took a lot of s*** from fans on the relationship with Manoah and how they handled everything, but maybe they did good?
  2. How about this organizations development team being able to fix Manoah! Incredible stuff.
  3. Can someone report on Manoah's "stuff+" stats from today? Curious if they are better than the first start. THanks.
  4. Love to see it. Teo is simply a player who's easy to cheer for
  5. Typically snowflake ❄️
  6. You have a problem?
  7. I can get behind a 5 page GTD. Real Jays fans stay, the constant complainers eventually lose interest and leave.
  8. Over the past few years we've seen Christian Vasquez and Yan Gomes get 3 year deals and James McCann get a 4 year deal. Perhaps those guys had proven to be more durable, but they also aren't anywhere near the caliber of player that Jansen is. I could probably see Jansen sign a 2 year extension in TO simply because he loves it here and if the team was a contender, but we're not. He's should get a minimum of 3 years on the FA market - probably 4 unless there's some bizarre FA market.
  9. Yankees need a better catcher Diamondbacks catcher is really struggling this year
  10. I saw Tom Segura at Casino Rama - and he had NO f***ING IDEA where he was...
  11. It's a good question. He'll be 30 next year with a lengthy history of injuries. Catchers often die in their early 30's, so there's a lot of risk involved. I mean if he'd sign a 2-3 year deal with a reasonable AAV ($12M +/-), then sure. But I certainly don't want him for 4-6 year deal. This team is headed into a rebuild, so I'm not sure he'd want to sign here anyway. If he's healthy and playing great this year, you probably trade him while you can. And I love Jano...
  12. A process based argument - very rare for this board. I do find it hard to argue, even though I also understand the though process of replacing Teo's cost with other players that helped the team. However, the missing factor is how much trade value Teo really had. You think it was significant. I suspect it was a lot less than you believe - but acknowledge it may have been more than what the Jays got in return (while acknowledging how hard it is to ignore the actual results). The underlying numbers were declining in 2022 and, as I suspect the Jays and other teams expected they would continued to erode in 2023, which they did - leading to Teo's worst year since his breakout. Atkins correctly evaluated Teo and dumped him in a walk year. You think they could have gotten more - but you're guessing. Nobody would be talking about this if Teo was off to a slow start in LA. But he isn't - he's off to a great start. His underlying numbers are better this year than they were last year, but they aren't where they were in 2020-2021. They aren't even as good as they were in 2022 - all of which is reflective in his xwOBA. Also, his current K% is still up around 30, which is worrisome. It's unlikely he sustains this early season success unless he makes some adjustments. I love Teo and will always root for the guy. Curious to see how the rest of the season plays out for him.
  13. connorp went on about Urshela at length this spring and then was dunking on the board when Gio had a couple of hits in the first week of the season.
  14. There's no chance Soto is signing here. Soto probably doesn't even know where Toronto is. We're going into a rebuild.
  15. It's like everyone forgets how much they s*** on this team's defense after the 2022 season, especially after the WC game debacle. LGJ, Springer, Teo in the OF was horrendous defensively and change was 100% needed. Springer couldn't play another season in CF, Teo's K% was climbing, defense was still s*** and we all laughed at LGJ getting a gold glove award nomination in 2021. We clearly needed a CF of the future - hence the Varsho deal. Could we have just moved Teo to DH? Sure, we could have, but he was a fairly expensive DH who's bat was showing cracks in the armor. He was also entering the last year of his deal and I don't think anyone felt they wanted Teo back on a multi-year deal into his mid 30's. So they dealt him, strengthen the bullpen, used the extra money to sign KK and brough in Belt to DH instead of Teo. Swanson gave us 1.2 WAR KK gave us 2.8 WAR Belt gave us 2.2 WAR Teo gave Seattle 1.8 WAR Hate Atkins all you want, but even the largest moron on this board should be able to objectively look at this move and go "well f*** me - that worked out really well"
  16. I mean - you could draft and develop an OFer too right?
  17. It's a "thanks" - nobody actually likes anything around here.
  18. Olerud - don't take this the wrong way, but that isn't interesting at all. I don't have you on ignore. I think you say lots of interesting things, but that wasn't one of them.
  19. But Guillermo was in charge when we were one of the best offenses in baseball in 2020 and 2021. It's all Donny Baseball. Why the f*** did we hire a geezer?
  20. Re: #6 - I do know that Clement loves to party and f*** chicks. Whatever that's worth. Seems to be working for him. Maybe they need more Wade Boggs plane trips and less booster juice.
  21. Crazy to think he was a sub 100 wRC+ hitter in 6 of his first 7 years and after turning 30, became a legit star. He was also below average defensively in his early to mid 20's. It's also crazy that he seems to be sustaining it, as A LOT of middle infielders fall off a cliff in their early 30's. Good for him. He always seemed like such a hard worker.
  22. Good observation. I suspect DS is HATED by the organization. He isn't listening or buying into their team hitting philosophies at all. Coaches must be foaming at the mouth that he won't do what's he's told. Jansen probably falls into this camp too. Good one them for being such rebels.
  23. I'm not sure I would draw that conclusion...
  24. So a new team wide hitting philosophy (that's s***) can immediately f*** up a player (see Varsho, Daulton), but a new philosophy can't immediately fix it (Chapman). That's concerning.
  25. Didn't John Schneider coach most of the young core players when they were in the minors (and good)? Do you guys think he's like "what the f***? Bo hit .400 in the minors while pulling the ball all the time - WTF are you dipshits telling him?" It is just so bizarre how almost every single young player immediately s*** the bed when, or soon after arriving at the ML level. Lots of these players are going to get moved and it will be fascinating if they immediately revert back into the players we thought they would be when they leave the org (or not).
