    He's likely viewed to have a similar value as Eflin did. Eflin is owed a few million less next year, is younger and did pitch at a higher level last year (which otherwise he's never done). Typical season by Bassitt is better than a typical season by Eflin though. Neither have much playoff experience/success.

    Jo Adell was the #1 prospect in baseball at one point man. Yes, there were some question marks, but you can't pretend like everyone knew he'd be a bum. Most/all prospects have something they are still developing. It's very difficult to know which ones will figure it out and which won't. Great GM's f*** up that evaluation all the time because there's always a probability of failure that is often outside of their control. It's just like a great poker player. They know the odds inside and out, yet they still lose quite often. In your theoretical scenario, you have to factor in the likelihood that one (or both) of the stud prospects you trade Vlad for could bust - with little to nothing you can do about it.

    Yesavage certainly has the potential to be an elite guy.

    Not exactly. Trading him now and watching him to back to the 2-3 WAR, 120-130 wRC+ player he was in 2022-23 could be a franchise altering move - as could extending him and watching him hit like Miggy from Age 26 through 33. This is a monumental decision for the Jays. There will be probabilities of each outcome and nobody will truly know what Vlad will become with any sort of certainty. Someone is going to weigh the odds of different outcomes and make a decision. I really hope they "hit". We know fans will s*** on them if they don't - even if they have very little control of the outcome.

    Jays may have to pitch in $$ to improve the return from Bassitt...They should be exploring that though. You can just use the $21M in the offseason.

    That would likely be the best rotation in baseball man. Seems unlikely but fun to consider.

    um....that's a good thing? OPTION A - trade all the expiring contracts for prospects. Have more prospects to build the team around and/or trade when needed for additional help. OPTION B - don't trade the expiring contracts. Have fewer prospects to build the team around or trade for additional help.

    3 WAR = 6 WAR when you're a slugger like Vlad.

    It is going to be fascinating to see if this is the real Vlad and he's going to be Miggy for the next 6-7 years. Is this sustainable? Who knows. I think there's a very real possibility this is mirage and we should cash in now, but I also think there's a real possibility he's finally matured and is going to be a beast moving forward. I lean towards locking him up now, but I'm still scarred by how s***** he was in 2022 and 2023 when we really needed him to be a star player. 2022 and 2023 likely finish differently if we have this version of Vlad on them.

    Yes - my comments look worse after Vlad goes 8 for 15 with 3 Hrs, 5 runs and 7 RBIs in the past 3 games.

    Yes Bloss will be our #1 prospect and yes these recent trades will help bolster the farm system. This is a good step in the right direction to drag it out of the bottom 5 in baseball. Good news is it's possibly to turn your farm system around in just a few years.

    I'm not going to lie, Loperfido has a bit of a Derek Fisher profile to him...Now personally, I'm cool with that. Give me the upside potential, but we know fans won't understand the probability of failure for a guy with his profile.

    Brewers get Montas for Joey Wiemer and Jakob Junis Wiemer used to be a top prospect. Change is scenery may help him.

    I thought he'd bring back a Top 100 prospect. This is a really good haul by the Jays. Definitely should be listening to trades for Bassitt given that return.

    Doing what you have to do so you don't waste an elite pitching staff means adding legit bats (not Justin Turner).

    He's played 8 games at AA man. Those results are useless. It's his age 23 season and he was just drafted last year. Horwitz spent most of his Age 23 season in A+ ball too, which a lower wRC+. It's f***ing JUSTIN TURNER we traded - could you look at the bright side for once?

    9th round pick in last year's draft, with a 148 wRC+ in A+ ball. 17% BB rate v. 14% K rate. He's old that level and will likely never amount to anything, but this still seems like 3 times the return I expected for Justin Turner.

    Is Kopech anything really? -1.1 WAR over the past 2 seasons. Reclamation project for someone, just like Big Nate was.

    I wonder if we shutdown Y-Rod soon anyway. 60+ innings on the season now after throwing 0 last year. Maybe he has a couple more starts in him? Good day for Clement and another utility guy or 2 to give us some innings.

    If we're relying on Pop, Little, Burr, Cabrera, etc. to play key roles in our pen next year, we aren't competing. Personally, I don't think competing in 2025 is going to be feasible either way.

    What is the point of this type of speculation? We've already made 3 trades and moved 2 of the expiring contracts. It's really just Kikucci left to move, plus Turner if anyone wants him (which is unlikely).
