  1. This wasn't media talk - it was a pretty candid opinion offered up by AA. I thought it was interesting insight. A lot of people around here regularly gag on AA's big meaty dong, so I know they want to hear him confirm this team blows.
  2. Just add him to your ignore list. It's glorious.
  3. Gotta love a manager who doesn't play with any sense of urgency. How soft is Jano that he can't go swing it 4 times and jog a few times everyday?
  4. AA was on the Fan today talking with Blair and Barker. He was asked about which metrics they use to determine how strong the team is and whether or not they should "add or sell" as you approach the deadline. Specifically referencing 2021 when the Braves were below .500 near August and also referencing the 2015 Blue Jays. He essentially said "run differential" - that's it. If the wins aren't where you want them to be, but you have a good run differential, you're optimistic things are going to turn around and even out. It's a sign your team has been unlucky and that if you can fill a couple of holes, things can turn around quickly. He said if you're run differential is poor "like -10, -20" then you're not going to be nearly as optimistic and it should change your mindset. We're -45, which is 3rd worst in the AL, 5th worst in baseball. The greatest GM in the history of beisbol has spoken. We're f***ed. Start the rebuild now.
  5. I love keeping you guessin' Omar.
  6. To be fair - it did look like we had a lot of depth. Connor Cooke was striking out 16 per 9 with 2 walks per 9 in AA. Looked like a legit shutdown guy coming up. Homegrown, cheap talent. Then some ******* in AAA told him to stop throwing strikes and now he looks like Zulu, walking 7 per 9. It's perfectly fair to predict that 50-75% of your prospects will turn out to be nothing but steaming s***, but we're close to a 100% rate at this point. It's comical. You can't make it up.
  7. Thanks for your concern, but I'm fine guys. You don't seem overly concerned with the other 90% of the posters who spew nothing but doom and gloom around here. Not sure why I'm special. I'm just being realistic. This team simply can't contend if Bo, Vlad, Springer, Kirk and the bullpen all s*** the bed - and well, it looks like that's what we're going to get. It's too bad, but that's life. Last year at this point, we were 13th in runs scored and 10th in wRC+. Last year our wRC+ was 106. It's 94 this year. This isn't the same as last year guys. It's significantly worse.
  8. I know it's a tough pill to swallow, but grab a big glass of water and get it down. This team f***ing sucks. 3.5 games might as well be 87 games. That number is irrelevant when there are like 7 teams ahead of them. I mean there's always a chance for a miracle, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
  9. It's almost comical they haven't. It seems like 14 year old could draft based off ESPN draft rankings, employ some dad's to coach the minor league teams and they would luck into more ML talent than the Jays.
  10. Because every RPer we have in AAA walks 5+ per 9 and is useless. Our depth is MIA, so obviously they feel that letting Mayza figure it out at the ML level is the best option. Season's over, so who really cares. You're just hoping he figures it out at some point.
  11. I'm sorry man, but most of that s*** doesn't matter. The season is OVER. We may climb back and finish around 80 wins, but it will all be irrelevant. This team won't be relevant again until at least 2030.
  12. It's been so much fun watching legit bullpen options like Connor Cooke, Hayden Juenger, Hagen Danner, Mason Fluharty, Yosver Zulueta, etc. all show promise and success throughout the minors, only to get to AAA and then completely s*** the bed. I think on average, our AAA RPers walk 5+ per game. You'd think the AAA pitching coach is actively telling them to try and walk people. And f*** Nate Pearson. How many pitchers who were considered one of the best RH pitching prospects in baseball end up being healthy, but unable to even be a serviceable arm out of the pen? Like 1 in 50 maybe? It feels like coaches would have to be actively sabotaging Pearson for him to be this s*****. There's little to no reason he shouldn't be a lights out setup/closer at the ML level. But oh no - we get a f***ing polished turd instead.
  13. To do this, we'd need A LOT more than just BABIP luck. There's almost zero indication this is even remotely possible. This season was dead upon arrival.
  14. I do agree with this - but you have to be careful when you cherry pick a bunch of players who've had good starts to the season and say "see, we should have signed those guys". For ever Ahmed Rosario signing that looks like a deal, there's a Gio Urshela who looked comparable at the time, who's a complete zero. All players who are brought in have risks. There are probabilities for different potential outcomes. Just because a few of them produce at the 90th percentile outcome, doesn't make the GM a genius. All GM's throw s*** against a wall and hope it sticks. Most the time it doesn't.
  15. Obviously it would help, but it wouldn't make us a contender. We're the 2nd worst in runs scored and 8th worst in wRC+ If we signed Ohtani, we wouldn't have signed Turner....Turner had a 162 wRC+ as of April 29th and our offense was still a steaming pile of dog s***. This team is MILES away from being a contender. Ohtani alone wouldn't change that.
  16. I believe Joc wanted to stay on the west coast. Again, the team could have signed Ohtani and it wouldn't have moved the needle. This offense sucks balls. For Atkins to have salvaged this season, he would have had to trade Vlad, Bo, Kirk and Springer this past offseason, while getting MLB ready contributors to replace them. Maybe that was possible? Maybe it wasn't. The team ultimately decided to roll the dice on these guys performing to their capabilities and that's proven to be the wrong decision.
  17. boy oh boy - I hope you start posting more with great insight like this.
  18. Each team should get 20 appeals when Angel is umpiring. 3 to 5 would be used up by the 3rd inning.
  19. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2916023/rival-exec-jays-have-talked-to-teams-about-trading-vlad-bo Bring on the rebuild!
  20. Orelvis is in a big slump. 1 for his last 33. wRC+ back down to 106.
  21. Ever think it's just some writer who needs to meet his quota writing a story about Jones, who's shown signs of life over the past 23 games (.312/.426/.481, 148 wRC+)? Jones has been injured a lot since being drafted. I have no idea how much that's affected his development, but suspect it has to some extent. The kid is starting to put it together at age 20. I'm not sure there's more analysis than that required.
  22. Great - I can't wait until Adrian Pinto is a superstar at the ML level. 184 wRC+ 2:1 BB/K rate at 18 in rookie ball.
  23. I think most of us initially think that, but I'm not so sure you can be certain that's what happened. This isn't Fever Pitch - if a ball comes your way, everyone is making noise and it would alert you to look up. I've played baseball my whole life and I often question just how good I'd be at catching a home run ball or a screaming line drive (this is gone now with the nets) with my bare hands. Then you factor in deflections and other arms in the way and it's easy to see how people who are looking right at the ball still wear it in the face.
  24. I think they always send someone down to check on them and get medical attention if necessary. A little token gesture seems fine too. Not sure I'd bother a player though.
  25. Man - if the old adage "build up the middle" is true, then the Brewers are going to be a force for the foreseeable future. C - Contreras 2nd - Turang SS - Joey Ortiz (once Adames leaves) CF - Chourio
