  1. Bizarre rants that often take form in some sort of fan fiction. I don't understand it but I don't find him annoying or anything. He's not really mean (unless you are an 18 year old prospect) or picking fights either. I just scroll right past.
  2. He should get a haul. What other starting pitchers will be out there that are better? Crochet if he's even dealt?
  3. Something to consider about that 2013 team is that two years later we had the best team in baseball in 2015 and it wasn't even close. +221 run differential and the next closest team was the Cardinals at +122. And that didn't require a rebuild nor did the farm contribute a whole lot to the turnaround.
  4. This year is probably worse but 2013 would rival it. On the heels of the Marlins trade as well as the Synder for Dickey trade. Bautista had an injury plagued year and the starting pitching sucked and we finished 74-88. The offense was a tick above average and we had a good bullpen at least. Expectations were high though, or at least there was some reason for optimism, and the team hadn't been to the playoffs forever. This team is probably more frustrating to watch though. Good defense and starting pitching but bad offense and a horrible bullpen is a really bad combination to watch. Good defense and solid starting pitching isn't really that entertaining, no matter what anyone says. Offense is entertaining and we don't have it. And a bad bullpen is one of the most frustrating things in sports.
  5. I tend to agree. He let Craig Biggio bully him into tendering his son contracts for YEARS before finally finding the courage to cut him loose. But he did eventually do it. Dante doesn't have the Hall of Fame credentials that Craig Biggio has, but he is a much more physically intimidating presence. Only time will tell if Ross has the courage to do it again.
  6. Dante Bichette's son's reign of terror as our starting shortstop might finally be coming to a close. He's surrounded on all sides with SSs better than him. Kinder-Falafel on the IL, Leo Jiminez on the big league team and now Gabriel Cancel-That-Big-Bo-Extension in Buffalo. I pray that Ross Atkins finds the courage to do the right thing and trade Bo to the Dodgers for 50 cents on the dollar while he still can.
  7. In the Atlantic League he was third in homers, third in steals and 5th in walks. Been playing mostly 3B and SS in Buffalo. I have no idea how good the Atlantic League is. Looks like a ton of MLB flameouts. Frank Schwindel, for example, has had big league success in the past and projects for a wRC+ of 92 in the big leagues this year, is also tearing up the Atlantic League. But he's a no glove 1B. So maybe Cancel could be a bench guy or something. Regardless, he's definitely worth a look in AAA.
  8. Who the hell is this Gabriel Cancel guy in Buffalo? Looks like he was playing Indy ball until the Jays signed him in late June. He's got 6 homers and a 1.474 OPS in 39 ABs. https://www.milb.com/player/gabriel-cancel-663708
  9. I tend to agree but Berrios doesn't really *seem* like a replacement level pitcher this year to me. He hasn't looked amazing but he is churning through the innings and all of his numbers outside of FIP are pretty decent. K's are down but he's still got a 3-1 K/BB ratio. 4th in MLB in innings. But because fWAR uses FIP it says he's barely above replacement level. Has he really been THAT much worse than Gausman who has 1.5 fWAR?
  10. Yeah I was hoping for a Bo trade this entire time but he is still sucking ass. I thought he would have gotten hot by now but he hasn't hit a home run since mid May! I'd still troll for offers but at this point it might be better to wait until the offseason or next trade deadline when he his hitting better.
  11. It's amazing at how he's turned around his season in about 2 weeks. It's been a combination of: -Never being as bad as his numbers suggested (I've been saying this the whole time) -On fire with the stick for 2 weeks -His defense and baserunning bouncing back at age 34 If he stays hot he will not only have an okay year, but perhaps even a strong bounce back season. And he will probably continue to project well through the remainder of his contract.
  12. I would obviously trade Berrios if we could but his contract shouldn't be too bad of an albatross as long as he's healthy. The option years look ugly at 24 mil but they still just count for 18.7 AAV for tax purposes. It's hard to fill a rotation with 5 guys so as long as he can give us 1+ WAR a year it's not going to kill us at an 18.7 AAV. The guy can eat up innings, he looks to keep himself in great shape, and his contract ends at age 34 which isn't great but not dire.
  13. Yeah I agree that would be wise but we might just need to let him go. This team has so many holes that if we want to compete next year we can use that money elsewhere and just roll with Kirk and a guy like Phil Clarke as the backup. Just bat Kirk 7th or 8th and take what you can get out of his bat; at least he gives us elite D. Clarke is a lefty who can take walks. Just try and hide him against lefties and he should hit ok.
  14. Last year Jordan Montgomery and Chris Stratton got SS Thomas Saggese (40+ FV), RHP Tekoah Roby (50 FV) and LHP John King (middle reliever). Kikuchi and Yimi would probably be a similar package.
  15. I basically agree with all of this but I'm not sure how much we will get for Yimi, Richards and Jansen. -Yimi is banged up and he doesn't have a very long track record of being that great. -Richards is the type of guy who is a decent regular season pitcher but he might not throw many innings in the playoffs with all the off days. -I read somewhere (can't remember where) that Catchers rarely fetch much at the deadline either as teams are hesitant to mess with the staff chemistry midseason. All 3 should get us something, just not sure it will be that much. Kikuchi should be able to crack the Top 3 of plenty of playoff contender's rotations. I think he could get something decent.
  16. If everything on that list happens the 2025 playoffs will indeed be easy to make
  17. Well, I don't really care if we win per se. But, I do want: -All pending FAs to play extremely well to help their trade value -Vlad to ball out to either make it worth extending him or to pump his trade value up -Bo to start hitting so we can trade him -Springer to keep it up, he's got another pricey two years left -The Buffalo Boys to play well to show that they can be pieces moving forward -Kirk and Varsho to show that they can be starters over the final 3 years of control -Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt to pitch well so they can be productive members of the team to round out their deals or pump up their trade value -Green, Pearson, Little and anyone else in the bullpen with a pulse to pitch well so we don't have to find 8 new relievers in the offseason All of that will lead to wins and would be better for the franchise moving forward then picking a little bit higher. We can just hope for the lottery to fall our way in that regard anyway.
  18. Yeah and then he usually goes on a tear. Entering last year he has a slash line of .419/.479/.742 in over 70 career plate appearances when the furries are in town
  19. Getting caught up on Bo's crazy stalker lady. Wow those are some thirsty tweets. And call me crazy but I think all options need to be considered here. Bo needs a slump buster and he needs one BAD. Dude has a .608 OPS right now. Just saying.
  20. Yeah I'm not expecting much. Something like the Jays pay all his salary and get a low level lotto ticket or a relief pitching prospect in in return.
  21. Yeah at this point they are playing KK in the hopes that he'll start hitting so they can trade him.
  22. The problem with tanking is that it is good in theory, but it carries some really nasty stuff along with it that will affect our future just as much, if not more, then picking a few spots higher. -Vlad goes back to his slap hitting ways -Bo continues to suck -Gausman fails to get back on track -The Buffalo Boys suck -None of the fringe relievers turn into reliable pieces for next year -Springer goes back to solidifying himself as the worst player in baseball
  23. That is f***ed
