  1. Well maybe Texas will trade for him after he carves them up
  2. He doesn't have a ton of pop but 10 homers and a .209 ISO is impressive for his size.
  3. Fangraphs had some article a while ago about how relievers who see a sudden performance spike rarely net a large return. Add in Yimi's injury and I think this is a fine return.
  4. I would want to know more about his defense before I move him out of the nobody category.
  5. Clase is 5'8'', 150. Sharp is 5'7'', 180. You could combine their weights and Alejandro Kirk would still outweigh them both by about 5 pounds. They are about 2 or 3 inches taller though.
  6. Yeah Clase doesn't look that horrible. Started off the year in AAA at age 21 and is putting up respectable numbers. He has cut his K rate from where it was in AA the year before which is a good trend. I'm reading that he didn't start switch hitting until later than most so perhaps the hit tool will continue to improve.
  7. Wow my bad lol. I must be going blind. He's still a nobody.
  8. Not sure what anyone expected for Yimi. He doesn't really have a track record of being a shutdown reliever until this year at age 33. Throw in the injury and his trade value was really low.
  9. The Catcher looks like a nobody. He's 22 years old in A ball and has yet to hit a homer in his professional career. 17th round pick last year so he doesn't have any pedigree. Clase could be okay. Perhaps a good 4th OF eventually. He has one more option after this year so they can let him develop more.
  10. There could be something to that. Last year they were using him as a 3 inning starter and everything and he was lights out until late August. He had a 2.93 ERA in 55 IP on August 22. The final month and a half he imploded and ended up with a season ERA close to 5.
  11. He always looks so solid for 2/3 of the year and then he just has a disastrous month and it tanks his numbers.
  12. That ******* was going to get us a 50 FV at the deadline and now we'll be lucky to get a ham sandwich for him. This season sucks.
  13. Here are the biggest first base contracts: https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/contracts/_/position/1b/sort/value Harper doesn't really count and the rest of them don't approach anywhere near 250 mil. Matt Olson isn't a bad comp.
  14. Lost in the discussion about extending Vlad to a 10 year deal is the fact that Don Mattingly made this discussion possible. The son of a bitch did the unthinkable and fixed Vlad's swing. We have to extend him too while we are at it.
  15. His defense is weird. Most of the metrics have rated him fine at 1B since he started playing it in 2020. The exception is OAA which thinks he SUCKS at 1B the past two years even though the other metrics still think he's okay. If you look at his plot the past two years it looks like he sucks when he has to make a play where it involves feeding the pitcher: https://shorturl.at/IcI48. That seems to track the eye test. But otherwise his plot looks ok, including on plays where he has to move back (also tracks the eye test as he seems ok when chasing down pop ups). His sprint speed is close to league average and his arm is well above average. Maybe he would be be okay in LF? Heck, maybe he's even better at 3B than he is at 1B. He has the arm for it and he doesn't have to feed the pitcher. Metrics were fine in a SSS. Sounds kind of crazy but we are now living in a world where Spencer Horwitz is an above average 2B so I would definitely consider Vlad in LF.
  16. I think you are probably right but he's on month+ heater right now so the fan in everyone wants to dream about a 10 year extension where we get the 5+ WAR version of Vlad. I wonder if Vlad would be open to a Dodger-style deferment where he technically becomes the highest paid 1B in the game but in reality he is getting closer to Matt Olson money. A deal like that could possibly appease all parties and keep him in TO.
  17. Yeah what if they just traded Vlad and Bo and then signed Pete Alonso and one of Kim/Adames? Re-stocked farm system and the AAV goes right into similar players.
  18. Sorry I meant "easy" in the board meme sense ("the playoffs will be easy to make") not literally. The point is that we'd be a 225 million dollar wild card contender and that's not ideal.
  19. If Rogers keeps payroll around 225 mil then I think the Wild Card would be easy to make with that team + the trade deadline additions + the offseason additions. This is the sad part though- The players shown take up about 160-165 mil. 170-175 with Romano and Pearson. You would need a big offseason of 50+ mil added in FA and trades to become Wild Card contenders. Yikes.
  20. You can't really blame the team for this Bo situation. At least they didn't extend him. Yeah, they should have traded him prior to this season but (1) the team looked to be competitive so not sure why you would trade your 4 WAR SS and (2) had no reason to believe he'd tank like this.
  21. Kind of what I was thinking. Though TY is fine because he was projected to go much higher anyway.
  22. Yes I have. A very drunk Ed Rogers will spill the beans on everything. He personally told me that John Gibbons would hold arm wrestling matches to fill out the final spots in his lineup. Zeke Carrera spent all offseason training his right bicep and practicing his technique and was surprisingly good at arm wrestling. That's why he was batting leadoff in the playoffs in '15. I didn't relay it to the board at the time because I didn't think anyone would believe me. Unfortunately, I am no longer welcome in the CEO box after having one too many and making some totally harmless and benign comments to Ed's wife Suzy who apparently can't take a joke OR a compliment. But it's good to know that we have other sources inside the CEO box now.
  23. Clement is starting to get a little more interesting to me. The BB rate is obviously low but so is the K rate and he seems to have unlocked some power by pulling dat ball. I think Fangraphs might be selling him short on his fWAR too. His OAA (which Fangraphs relies on for defense) at 3B has been bad with the Jays, but that could simply be because of positioning. With his previous teams he graded out very well with OAA at 3B and his other defensive metrics are fine. He seems to pass the eye test too. His bWAR is 1.5 right now.
