  1. Speaking of connections, I had a direct line to Ross Atkins for YEARS until that restraining order issue popped up. I can no longer contact him but Smokinitup420 if you could please tell him to DFA Chase Lee and call up Nolan Perry I would really appreciate it. We can still make the playoffs goddammit.
  2. Maybe Miles moves back to being a bulk pitcher. He and SWR can tandem the 5th starter duties. And then Sewald and Flu can take over the 7th inning role. Arrighetti is back on the hill for Buffalo this weekend so maybe he could help soon.
  3. Sewald will be on the team tomorrow so they'll either DFA Waldron or option Chase Lee I would guess. Bottom of the bullpen is looking rough though. Would like to see Mantiply come back. He was throwing bullpens in late July but I haven't heard anything since. But with Scherzer and SWR in the rotation we need some length too. The injuries to Trey and Taillon are killing me. Maybe Waldron survives because he can provide "length"? We really need one more solid DFA pickup.
  4. He's looked pretty good his last two starts and he's going to be fired up for today's game with the team back in the playoff chase.
  5. Neither of them play each other down the stretch so normally I would say you want one of them to beat up on the other. We won't hold the tiebreaker with Texas but there is a chance we could with Houston. So if Texas wins the division, and we are tied with Houston there is a chance we could still get in. So I guess Houston but I don't think it matters too much.
  6. We have passed the Orioles* in the standings. The Guardians are next. *Zero playoff wins under the current regime btw
  7. That bullpen chart looks a heckuva lot cleaner after yesterday's game. Can't believe we got away with 4 innings of Lee, Little, Fisher and Miles to hang on for the W.
  8. Yes exactly. You can't just put him in the 9th inning no matter what and expect it to work. You could be facing a part of the order that has some lefties coming up or the other team could have some good lefty pinch hit options. You want to use him when the matchups look more favorable. 7th inning and a string of righties are coming up. 6th inning jam with 2 outs and a runner in scoring position with a righty at the dish. Situations like that.
  9. That's insane lol Lefties have a .405 wOBA against him this year compared to just .251 against righties. (.329/.270 split for his career.)
  10. Schneids just needs to be smart and use him only in situations where an onslaught of solo homers won't kill us too bad.
  11. If Sewald can hold his liquor, one all night coaching session with Pete Walker that stretches into the wee hours of the morning could do wonders for his game.
  12. Looking under the hood and he might actually be an okay pickup though. Elite K and BB rates as Laika mentioned, and he's got great numbers against righties and horrible numbers against lefties. He's fastball/sweeper only which explains why. The idiot D-Bags were using him as their permanent 9th inning fixture for most of the year though when he's begging to be used situationally against right handed bats. The Jays usage alone will help improve his numbers.
  13. How the hell does Paul Sewald have a 17% GB rate lmao
  14. Yeah Trey, Taillon and Arrighetti all going down within a couple of days was a real kick in the nuts. If we continue to tighten things up I wonder if the Jays would do something crazy like promote Nolan Perry from AA to the bigs. A Ricky Tiedemann promotion as a 3 inning guy might be worth consideration as well. It would be the classic case of using whatever innings he's got left in the bigs and not the minors. Also, the extra pitcher from expanded rosters is going to help a lot.
  15. We could still do it but we need Soriano to level up immediately now that he's free from the schackles of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. We need Bieber to find his form ASAP. Scherzer has to perform. SWR and Waldron need to stabilize the #5. And there is more pressure on the offense to turn things around in a big way. Banking these wins against the Phillies and Red Sox have been huge. Need to continue to play well until the schedule softens up later this month.
  16. It would be so fricking hilarious if the Red Sox all of the sudden started tanking and they miss the playoffs altogether
  17. The Trey injury is really devastating. With him in the fold you can see the path to the playoffs. Cease is dealing, Soriano and Trey are providing strong starts most every turn, you hope Bieber bounces back some, and then Max just needs to show a pulse. That was all plausible, if a little unlikely. But replace Trey with SWR and Waldron? Yikes.
  18. we got some work to do but the boys are back in business
  19. I blew my knee out a long time ago, so maybe the medical science has advanced, but if they actually repaired his meniscus, I have a hard time seeing him back this season. A true repair usually has a much longer recovery because the meniscus has limited blood supply. If they just trimmed the tear, a return this season is possible, but I’d still expect at least a month. But given that he’s a young, prized pitcher, I’d expect the Jays to be extra cautious with him. Good chance he's done for the year IMO.
  20. Normally can't stand this guy but I will be tuning in for this one. Been obsessed with this play since last night lol.
  21. We passed the Mariners in the standings last night. The Orioles are next.
  22. We do have the video actually! Vlad is the last infielder and he is still on the field (barely) when the ump waives off the run.
  23. Yeah all good. I didn't even know about the rule and was losing my mind during the game. After I read into it I do think the umps still screwed it all up but the Jays should have been all over it. It didn't seem like they were going to challenge even if the home plate ump handled it better.
  24. Yes this is a big part of what lead to the 17 minute delay. I do think Schneider should have been all over this and had Vlad step on the 3B bag as he walked off the field as well. The rule is fairly clear (even if not very well known) and it's better safe then sorry. But the umps deserve plenty of blame as well because they didn't count the run until AFTER the play on the field ended. The home plate ump didn't signal safe when the runner crossed home (I don't know if that matters), he threw a new ball onto the mound before the players were off the field (play is still live and he's throwing a new ball onto the field? That signals the play is over right?), and then he waives off the run a split second before Vlad (the last infielder) crosses the foul line. So the ump obviously didn't know the rule either, and as a result what exactly are the Jays supposed to be challenging/appealing here? How can you challenge/appeal that a run has scored when the ump didn't actually score the run until the middle of the inning? Are you supposed to preeminently challenge/appeal everything just in case the ump reverses course later on in the game? By the time it had gotten to MLB it was a mess and there wasn't really any correct answer at that point.
