  1. So he's the son of a former Astros legend? Well if you don't say....
  2. Yeah in this market they should definitely be shopping all 4 of them. All would be desirable and net a nice return. But at the same time, none of the four have a ton of surplus value, nor are they irreplaceable if you just take their AAV and sign a similar player in FA. It's the rare moment where they can build the farm system and then theoretically compete in 2025 by turning around and using the money to sign FAs. Heck, it might be the ONLY way to compete in 2025. New FAs without much drop-off with new AAA and AA prospects ready to contribute on top of it.
  3. Wow that’s a nice haul. Never heard of Wagner but after looking him up he’s more than just a throw in. Great trade.
  4. Last I read was that the M's were paying his entire salary. But even so, don't forget that Kikuchi is likely to move too.
  5. 2025 will be Ross' Last Stand I cannot wait to see what he does with 75 mil AAV worth of FAs as he blows the doors off the payroll in an attempt to turn this team into a wild card contender The playoffs will be easy to make and thankfully so will those luxury tax payments (thanks Dipoto!)
  6. Cot's says we are about 6.8 Mil over and that includes all of the trades up until Turner. This gets us right there and then we we trade Kikuchi we will be comfortably under it. Ross is gearing up for his big spending spree this offseason as he goes all in on 2025.
  7. We got their No. 29 prospect (According to MLB Pipeline) and they are eating JT's entire salary Great trade
  8. You've got to be s***ing me lol
  9. Yeah the Cardinals should have been throwing in another prospect right? Wild that they got Fedde and Pham for just Edman.
  10. All good, I've started using Steamer600 more because the normal projections fluctuate so much depending on the playing time. Regardless, you're probably right to just keep Serven ROS anyway. No sense locking in the 2025 backup C spot this early since they might be able to find someone better than McGuire.
  11. Lol imagine if they do all the fanfare like they did for Romano and Yimi *Jays up 3-2 entering the top of the 9th *the lights go dark *AC/DC starts blaring through the loud speakers, lights start flashing blue *Zach Pop jogs in from the dugout *promptly gives up a walk, 2 doubles and a bomb and the Jays are now down 3 as Schneider calls for a pitching change
  12. He's really really bad. Nothing redeeming at all about his stats and the eye test matches as he looks horrendous anytime he plays. He's fine as a 3rd C I guess because he's literally replacement level but anything beyond that is asking too much of him.
  13. Big Ross claiming that he has a couple of Top 100 prospects
  14. No they don't. McGuire projects for 1.5 Steamer600 and Serven projects for 0.7. https://www.fangraphs.com/projections?pos=c&stats=bat&type=steamer600u At this point it doesn't really matter unless they have on eye on next season. But I suppose they may not want to lock in the backup C spot this far in advance so why bother. But McGuire is actually a pretty good player against RHP. .260/.310/.378 slashline against RHP with his defense would def play as a backup.
  15. Joking aside I would take him. He's a lot better than Serven and could be the backup next year.
  16. I wasn’t referring to his draft position lol. He was close to a top 10 prospect and gave us negative WAR
  17. Yeah Romano is very iffy at this point. I’d have a hard time tendering him a 10 million dollar contract. You could probably do better in FA.
  18. Well yeah, we may not have a roster crunch right this second but add a couple of guys at the deadline, add a few FAs, add some prospects that need to be protected from the Rule 5, etc. and it will fill up in a hurry. Fans always underestimate the value of 40 man roster spots when it comes to trades but it means everything when you’re talking about fringe relievers like Pearson or fringe prospects like Rivera. The fringe non-40 man guys >> fringe 26 man guys in arb
  19. So basically this is a move with serious 40 man roster considerations
  20. Jonn isnÂ’t completely wrong but the problem with Pearson is that he has to be on the 26 man roster. He might have negative value because of that. Rivera I donÂ’t think has to be on the 40 man and the Dominican guy just has to be on the 40 man starting next year and has options. Both kind of suck but are in situations where can take a look at them without running into roster crunch problems. And donÂ’t forget, we are going to be adding plenty of guys to the 40 man this deadline. Dumping Pearson frees a spot.
  21. Pearson has to go down as one of the biggest busts in franchise history
  22. His ERA is 4.75 now lol FIP and xFIP are good but still, if anything can go wrong this season it will.
  23. Sure we can do that. Clase & Sharp = 11 foot 3 inches tall and 330 pounds Alejandro Kirk = 5 foot 4 inches tall and 335 pounds In a race I think I would take Clase running with Sharp on his shoulders over Kirk.
  24. They seem pretty similar but Gose had that 2011 season at age 20 in AA that had him jumping into the Top 40-60ish on the prospect lists. They actually look really damn similar if you factor in their ages appropriately. Basically the same ages at each level but Clase gets classified a year later because he was born just before the June 30 cutoff. Gose was born just after so he looks to be a year younger at each level.
