    Yeah they should definitely shop Bo. If they find the right deal, let Jimenez audition for the job next year. If Jimenez looks good he can be the SS if he sucks they could possibly make a run at Kim in FA.

    I would say the panicking probably started after Game 2 of the first sweep lol. After the second sweep there is nothing to panic about anymore. This team is almost certainly (but not officially!) cooked. The Phillies went on a run like we would need to do 2 years ago but the chances are way too remote right now.

    Yeah we went from something like 1 game below .500, 2 or 3 games back of the WC with only the Twins and Red Sox ahead of us and a 25% playoff chance. Now we are basically out of it barring a miracle, just a 5% chance.

    Spencer Horwitz looks so damn good. 2 bombs, that 12 pitch AB against Clase and then that diving play at 2B. Great game for him.

    I am with you except for trading Vlad and Bo. You guys are going to kill me but I would try and extend them in the offseason. Trade all pending FAs and try to land guys that can contribute next year (like the Liriano for Teoscar deal). We will have about 58-65M coming off the books depending on who we non-tender and not a lot of arb guys will eat into that too much. If the Buffalo Boys and Yariel are as legit as their projections say there are, we would only need to sign a bat, a SP and some relievers. The playoffs will be easy to make. This is if we are selling, and I'm not convinced that we are just yet.

    How do those opt outs affect Berrios' AAV for tax purposes? 18.71M AAV for him is not that bad. Even if he's having a down year it won't kill us. If he's having a good year it's surplus. 24M is a lot worse.

    Jose Suarez was DFA'd by the Angels. He's sucked the past two years but his velo is up and he's only 26 with some control left. I'd grab him and throw him in the bullpen. Maybe next year we can start him after we trade 4 of our starting pitchers like all of you want to do.

    Who knows maybe he comes back this weekend and goes on a heater for a month and it's not selling low at that point

    Hitting .288 against them with over 63% hard hit percentage on them (!) so overall he's still above water against 4-seamers. But the 4 degree LA is killing his chances at extra base hits off of them. It's nuts.

    Vlad has seen 374 4-seam fastballs this year and he has ZERO extra base hits against them

    I could see them trading guys from level 1 and then also trading Bo to make it a level 1.5 rebuild on Laika's official trade deadline sell chart. I don't think it's likely on Bo but it is possible.

    The new playoff format is so expansive that with our payroll we should never fully rebuild. Rebuilding is for poor teams who have to do it and it's not guaranteed to work anyway. Everyone calling for a rebuild just witnessed a team that had a generational prospect and several other young stars go through a full rebuild after the 2016 team and they now HATE the current product on the field. Another rebuild isn't guaranteed to go any better. I guarantee you that if we make the playoffs 5-8 times each decade we will have some memorable playoff runs. Perhaps even a WS win.

    Jansen is something like 10 for his last 100 with 0 homers. Time to work Kirk back in more.

    Also, Jansen has been ass for the past month. Kirk has been ass for the past two years but I'd work him in there more. We need his framing with this garbage bullpen of ours. And if they are playing 60/40 or 50/50 then Jansen can be used more often as a replacement for Kirk should the situation call for it (pinch hit or pinch run for him).

    We are stuck with Springer and his xStats suggest he's not as cooked as he looks. Turner might be in for a good year still. Both should get plenty of days off though. I don't understand KK starting so much. It comes at the expense of Schneider or Horwitz and both of them should be playing everyday (Horwitz can platoon a bit).

    I don't hate it. Those WWII years took potentially 30 WAR away from Williams.

    No Schneider, Orelvis or Clement in the lineup tonight.

    Yeah he has had an interesting career for sure. His peak never really got that high but he's still going strong at age 37 so his longevity has been excellent. The overall WAR total is light largely because he missed one whole season in addition to parts of several others. He will probably make a run at 40 WAR. Hall of very good.
