  1. Well said. I agree on the contract, it's tough to say what he'll get. Defense first profile often get paid less than you think. Kind of hard to imagine anything beyond 5 for 100 but it's possible.
  2. Good point. I love how it took these other teams just 30 and then 4 games, respectively, to decide that Craig Biggio's son is ass before they tell him to pack his bags. Meanwhile, it took the Jays 490 games to finally cut bait. Not to mention that we lost gold glove caliber infielders in the process. SMH
  3. Otto Lopez is putting together a solid year. 2.2 WAR in just 380 ABs. We just had to keep Craig Biggio's son around for years on end instead of giving guys like him a shot.
  4. These sons of bitches are going to pull it off
  5. Yeah we should shut some starters down and go with some bullpen days. The more Zach Pop down the stretch the better.
  6. Ok at this point of the season let's tank. We just jumped the Pirates for the 5th overall pick. We won't be able to get any higher than that but we could easily drop to 7th, and maybe 8th. Let's make sure we get 5th. Also, it only took me two tries on Tankathon to win the lottery this morning.
  7. ^Another Orioles fanboy scurrying for the exits. I haven't heard much in the way of Braves/AA cheerleading from you lately either.
  8. I agree but I don't think we could outbid Houston for him. You have to assume they are as high or higher on him than any team in MLB. They gave up a shitload to get him and he's been dealing. They probably match any offer we gave him.
  9. Lol the Orioles fanboys are trying to distance themselves from the team now that it turns out that they aren't the 1927 Yankees after all
  10. How the hell does Tyler Oneill have 31 homers and only 61 RBI?
  11. They need to advance past the WC round or it doesn't count (according to the Orioles fanboys)
  12. If it weren't for the stupid pose I'd say let's sign him for 4 mil with incentives next year. But he's going to get a HARD PASS from me because I can't watch that pose for a full season.
  13. Orioles fanboys in tears after Jenny Craig Kimbrel, the biggest FA signing in club history, was DFA'd today
  14. I think we fired somebody in the pitching department. Pretty sure it was all his fault so we should be fine next year.
  15. I'll give you the Teo trade merely because I don't want to debate it anymore. But two mid-tier FA signings and trading turds like Tellez and Frasso are pretty close to scrap heap like moves.
  16. As s***** as everyone thinks this team is, please ponder the following. If you replaced this year's bullpen with last year's (which finished the year with 4.6 WAR) you would add almost 8 wins to our total. That would give us a record of 80-71 which would put us in a tie with the Twins for the WC3 spot. If Ross can merely build an average bullpen next year, the playoffs will be easy to make.
  17. Damn, sounds like Varsho might miss some time next year too.
  18. Was he gambling? Does he have some sort of mental issue like depression? Pretty crazy story
  19. His quality of contact metrics should affect his xwOBA just as much as his wOBA though right? So I don't think that necessarily explains the discrepancies. There could be some reason but I really don't know what it could be so I think it's safer to assume that it's just bad luck as much as anything else. Remember, Vlad looked like a 1 WAR pumpkin for about 900 ABs and the reasoning that the board bought into (except for me, Spanky and Tom Tango that is) was that he wasn't aiming his deep fly balls enough. Tango said that kind of stuff is usually just noise on the whole and sure enough, he was right. Now I still worry about Springer, he's old so he could decline pretty drastically any time now and could actually turn into a true talent .300 wOBA guy. But even those concerns are a little overblown, he still projects well.
  20. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/why-were-moving-our-articles-to-a-metered-paywall/ Spanky I am going to need you to go ahead and sign up for a subscription and post all the articles for me thanks
  21. Geez so when he looked like the worst player on the planet he was underperforming his xstats by nearly 60 points! .300 xwOBA isn't good but it's probably about 28th percentile, not 1st percentile.
  22. Everyone keeps ignoring Springer's bad luck. He's had a .332 and .331 xwOBA the past two years. But his wOBA has been .320 and .302 with a BABIP of .243 this year. Even if next year he's a true talent .320 xwOBA player, if he merely gets normal luck, or heck good luck, everyone will be saying "he's back" when he's actually been pretty solid this whole time.
  23. Springer's xWOBA is holding strong at .331 (.332 last year). His defense and sprint speed are better than last year too and he's still projecting pretty well. He just needs to not get boned on the stats vs. his xstats next year and he should be an average regular. But he's old so he could fall off a cliff any year now but with just two more years left on his deal this could end up okay. It doesn't look great but you kind of expect year 5 and 6 of a FA deal to not be so great.
