  1. He does have the capability. Once in a while his knuckleball is unhittable. Unfortunately it probably won't happen tonight but we shall see.
  2. The healthy Jays team is alright but quickly the lack of depth is showing. Once again this team continues to be an embarrassment unless they do something soon. Potentially devastating signs ahead as they say... red sky in the morning sailor take warning.
  3. TBH I think he trimmed for the photo shoot lol.
  4. I actually find it difficult to blame this on Gibbons given what he has to work with. Maybe Gibbons and Seitzer like the way his approach looks this year. It's annoying that he's the #2 hitter but I have no problem giving him a look based on the other options.
  5. You guys are just too funny sometimes. Apparently every pitcher has the same BABIP. Hey I can throw a cutter, maybe if I pitched in the MLB I would be an unlucky good pitcher like McCarthy?
  6. lol really? So a AA pitcher who gets called up should have the same BABIP as the best pitcher in the MLB? Ok then.
  7. The stats that have came out since Moneyball are useful but sometimes people misread them. I don't want to point any fingers but it sounds like he's saying some AAA scrub should induce the same amount of weak fly balls as Kershaw.
  8. They can get weak contact and not just ground balls if they have better movement. I don't understand that argument.
  9. Kevin Towers is not a good GM but I'm sure he listened to other offers for McCarthy. The fact Nuno was his best offer shows that teams didn't like what they saw in him... I'm sure they all scouted him and didn't really like what they saw.
  10. I'm glad we can stop reading posts about how good he is.
  11. I know the advanced stats argument but I disagree. He has a nice K:BB but leaves way too many pitches over the plate. He is better than his ERA but he's still bad IMO.
  12. That something is he's not good lol.
  13. Thanks I'm not surprised. McCarthy has been bad despite what some people say. I guess this also means Sabbathia is out for the season?
  14. They should get Beltre. That would be more exciting.
  15. He might not even take a prospect which would make him an attractive depth move... that's what I meant when I said he'd be interesting. They are both not very good. McCarthy has potential to turn it around and so does Jackson but less so. If sh3156 is right that Happ has increased his FB velocity then that's promising, so Happ has potential to be a good pitcher too. I think we should agree that both McCarthy and EJax are bad options.
  16. Thanks. Didn't realize that, I haven't seen Happ's last few starts to be honest. It's summer and it's hard to sit inside and watch guys you consider junkballers. Hopefully gibbers doesn't call me a casual fan now.
  17. He's a better pitcher than Happ IMO. If you can get him for nothing and they take some of his contract it would be a depth move given his track record of giving a lot of innings. Pure speculation- but if taking Jackson's contract helps acquire say Castro then maybe you consider it.
  18. I agree. Prado and McCarthy would be a marginal upgrade. If you're going for a playoff push you get players better than them.
  19. I wonder if Edwin Jackson is going to go now. I wonder if the Cubs could even move his contract, he'd be an interesting guy to take a look at but hopefully the Jays can do better.
  20. I've seen some of McCarthy's starts and that's exactly what has been happening to him. McCarthy could be good no doubt, but face the facts. His results have been poor because he's mixing in good pitching with completely awful pitching IMO.
  21. They originally wanted Millone in the pen. I think they hang onto Hammel but you never know with Beane.
  22. Naw, McCarthy actually hasn't been good this year. You can look at all the sabermetrics you want but results are results. When he's getting hit, he's getting hit extremely hard. McCarthy is reminding me of Morrow in that sense. Everyone thought Morrow was good because he showed flashes of brilliance and his fip or xfip or whatever was outperforming his ERA. But the fact was he was mixing in some completely awful pitches that were not fooling anyone.
  23. Ya, but I think you underrate the win now mentality, so I don't take your opinion seriously.
  24. Good haul for the A's too, definitely.
