  1. I didn't read the whole article after reading some of the comments. He cites Thole's hot hitting as one reason they won't continue to play well, after that I stopped reading.
  2. Nice one. Can we talk baseball or is that not relevant for you? In all honesty I don't think Gose's bat is going to play in the long run. He's a great defender but his hitting is pretty capped even for a young player. Sorry but I am going against the grain on Gose as much as he's been exciting the last few weeks.
  3. I remember hearing he was really cocky a few years back so that's why I'm thinking he's just a sarcastic jerk. But who knows, he's clearly not exciting at interviews and luckily the player he will be sort of competing with is equally as bad lol
  4. Last I heard, John McDonald provided value on a daily basis.
  5. I get the sense that Gose is just extremely sarcastic to the point where he just doesn't care what he says. Like when he talked about Hendriks... "he's going to throw strikes, and get guys out".
  6. I agree with this. Rasmus if he is healthy has an outside chance at 30 HR with a passable OBP and defense. As much as I like what Gose brings to the table, it would be interesting to see if he can be moved as part of a package for a good starter. Of course the team needs to look like a contender at the deadline or AS break, or else the money won't be there to sign Rasmus and bring in a guy like Samardzija with a possible extension.
  7. Cause he is on red bulls and wants to rely on reaction plays.
  8. That's the spirit! Unless the starts align for non-aces they are going to give up runs against the Jays. They've actually done a really good job making adjustments this year, their lineup is great on paper but you have to give Seitzer at least some credit for the change in approach.
  9. The Jays pitching has been unimpressive the last 2 games. Don't give the Rays any credit, their offense is terrible I'd be surprised if they finished in the top 9-10 in runs scored in the AL this year.
  10. He's a good hitter in general, he's not a cleanup hitter. Not even close.
  11. Rays pinch hit their #3 hitter for David Dejesus in the 9th. Ouch, terrible lineup. Forsythe-Jennings-Rodriguez 3-4-5 is beyond bad.
  12. I don't know. They didn't even offer Josh Johnson qualifier at 14, he was worth quite a bit more than Morrow. That being said in hindsight it clearly worked out for the Jays, but 10 million for a guy who hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy at all is too much of a risk. Santana could have got more but he signed for 14.1 and has thrown upwards to 200 innings every season. Unless Morrow comes back and not only looks healthy but pitches well they will cut ties with him.
  13. Wanted to bump the other thread but it was locked. They are pretty good!
  14. Last I checked they also currently have no pitching depth.
  15. I think Rogers could be pretty good. For some reason he just leaves too many pitches over the plate. There were times last year when he looked like he could be a good back rotation starter with nice sink and some strikeout ability... not so much lately.
  16. No I said this before it does matter. A lot of MLB players are in the closet. Why do you think Dan Haren has had such a good career? His stuff isn't that good.
  17. Actually it seems to be a trendy thing to do lately (not just last year) in the summer months. They'll draw nice crowds on the weekends when the weather gets warmer. Not because people are big baseball fans, just because it's something to do during the summer. The good thing about that is the supposed fanbase is getting younger, the dinosaurs can only support the team for so long.
  18. This is also assuming they like those pitchers, they might be pretty low on them.
  19. I wonder what the asking price will be... Sanchez + Stroman? 2 top 100 (but not top 20) prospects might get it done, I have no idea.
  20. I like his defense and the fact he has some pop, no doubt. But I think you guys are getting a little ahead of yourselves. He's aging and has a .279 career OBP. I can buy into a tandem with Navarro but Kratz is probably not everyday catcher material, IMO. Not that Navarro really is either, so like some suggested could just split time. Kratz can catch Dickey and play against some lefties, etc.
  21. Not a big fan of Myers, he could be a very good player no doubt, but I've heard some Colby Rasmus comparisons due to his high strikeouts. While that's still pretty good it's not "stud" status. But imagine if the Jays threw out a lineup with a player like Rasmus as their cleanup hitter. It's not horrible, but chances are that's probably a weak hitting lineup.
  22. Ok I don't feel like reading the whole article atm, but it still begs the question... will Steamer be using pitch framing in their projections next year/near future? If not I don't know who the authors are (is one of them you?) and that's not quite as reliable at this point as a highly cited projection system. If I read the article I could of course change my tone and buy into it. Which I will do in a few days.
  23. Then why isn't Steamer/others using it yet? That was my question and why I am skeptical, although I do believe it's important and if it's not included then clearly it should be.
  24. Maybe. But the mainstream projection systems haven't started using it, meaning they either haven't bought into it or are a tad behind. Still, it's probably really important but maybe not refined enough to be included. I don't know, I haven't read any study on pitch framing I'm just speaking as a person who uses Steamer as my go to source.
