  1. Doesn't matter. The people who watch the game vote the most, and are thus are the most important for MLB profits, not the player with the highest WAR who no Yankees fans care about. This should be obvious to you.
  2. Right there's no compliance buyouts after next year (I think), but he's not clogging up roster space in years 6-7 when he's too old which still has value, so they only have to be "under the cap" for about 2 years if he declines badly. I don't think it's too bad, especially considering it's many years down the road.
  3. I think the term of the contract is too long but they are the Leafs and have very deep pockets. They can just buy him out when they think he's gone too downhill which makes the CBA pretty funny. Personally I think he's worth 5.25 for the next few seasons, which is why I'm pretty happy as a Leafs fan.
  4. We can agree to disagree, no need to be a jackass. Unfortunately you take pleasure in telling people off on the internet, did you also think Mike Trout should have won MVP last year despite a triple crown by MCab?
  5. Clarkson is a far more useful player than Grabo, I don't know how you idiots can argue that. Grabo is too small and doesn't clear any ice for his linemates- if he's not scoring he is basically useless IMO. Listen to the TSN and SN panels, not saying they know everything but they likely watch more hockey than anyone on this forum. One guy I respect is Doug MacLean, he has been praising Clarkson for a while now. They think it's a good signing- personally I do think the term is too long but they get a top 6 forward who is the type of player Carlyle likes.
  6. Do all your stats take into account the intangibles Clarkson brings over Grabovski? These are big things in hockey that are much less important in baseball. Clearing the ice, intimidating opponents, etc.
  7. They bought out Grabovski to replace him with a better forward, the Leafs don't care how much they spend non-salary cap so that's a non-issue. I am pretty happy with the signing but probably b/c I have been a fan of Clarkson for a long time, so this is a good day, like I said I was worried they'd go after Weiss.
  8. I think it's close, but I was comparing Clarkson to Weiss. I don't mind Bozak, I would've been upset if they went up to 5 AAV for him which was the rumour this week.
  9. You should probably stick to baseball. Clarkson was the one winger I thought the Leafs should target, the term is long but that's the only way to sign guys for a reasonable AAV. I was happy to hear the TSN panel agree with me today, I am curious to hear what Doug MacLean thinks as he's a big Clarkson fan too. I was worried the Leafs would go after Weiss, thank god they didn't overpay for him.
  10. Could be a useful bat, I'll bet he can still get on base at a good clip. Go Manny!
  11. Makes sense, once again another year of hoping he puts it together and he either gets hurt or pitches poorly.
  12. Agree, his numbers aren't great but he at least shows a nice breaking ball and can throw mid 90s. Wouldn't mind giving him a shot at this point.
  13. Zaun: they've played themselves out of any sort of pressure they had at the beginning of the season. True and very sad
  14. Friday's game was awesome, I can't believe I was still watching baseball after 3AM.
  15. He had until 20 minutes before the game started. It's also Sunday night at 10, his bedtime was a while ago.
