  1. A good friend of mine is a huge fan of Minnesota and St. Louis. Perhaps there's just less to do there?
  2. But we don't really know that. Maybe the Reds/A's didn't really like Syndergaard/D'Arnaud? The trade could be terrible, but both of those guys could still easily become irrelevant and it could turn out that teams were right in passing them up.
  3. Am I the only one who actually likes Dickey? He hasn't been terrible by any means, it's not his fault he was traded for 2 prospects some people here like. Plus, most MLB players come across as arrogant pricks, it's refreshing that he seems down to earth.
  4. He's probably full of s***. Any bit of controversy and the media goes crazy.
  5. Reyes has struggled vs. lefties but he probably expands the zone if you throw him something borderline. Challenging him with a fastball first pitch was stupid. Not pitching around him was stupid too IMO but to each his own.
  6. You set up the force out. If you pitch around him Reyes could easily get himself out. Not even debatable IMO.
  7. Zaun has a point. Why are they not at least pitching around Reyes there? Bad call by Maddon.
  8. It sounds like it was clearly a violation of the rules. Any guesses?
  9. That's terrible logic I thought you understood how things work. Every season holes will be revealed throughout the first 4 months, it doesn't matter how much you spend. Nobody was calling for a boost to the bullpen in December but that would have helped.
  10. Maybe AA forgot to put the possibility of the team folding if he does nothing into his little spreadsheet on July 31st.
  11. That's a good point. You have to consider that the non-acquisitions on July 31st have hurt their play.
  12. Sometimes it looks like they're not even trying. It's pitiful. Go out and play with some heart for once.
  13. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/02/2015-mlb-free-agents.html There's some decent old guys there that could close for another 1-2 years. Janssen's not a must keep.
  14. I really like Stroman, but if he has a strong finish to the season they should consider dealing him for someone more established. Like you said this is if they can actually add to payroll.
  15. A.J. Burnett 2006 5 year 55 million. Wow that was a long time ago, was that actually their biggest signing in the last 10 years?
  16. For LF I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Melky a nice extension.
  17. Well, he's more reliable than the other crap they have. I'm guessing they'll go the route and sign a couple of "ok" guys to short term deals and hope one emerges as the closer. There are a lot of older options that would sign for 1-2 years.
  18. He might accept it. Maybe they can sign him to a deal with some option years? Say what you want about the importance of relievers but there is a big hole if he leaves. Do you really want to deal someone from the minors for a reliever? Or do you sign one of the older closers in hopes of a 1-2 year deal? After Janssen, there is nobody reliable in the bullpen.
  19. It's not believable that Alex Gordon has been the best player in the league this year.
  20. If they traded Bautista right after signing him they'd have even MORE difficulty signing free agents.
  21. Welcome back dogg. Haven't seen you post in a very long time.
