  1. From what I have heard, JPR was totally on board for the Wells signing.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/blue-jays-claim-andy-dirks.html New leftfielder?
  3. Brewers decline option on Rickie Weeks. The Jays have their new 2B!
  4. First Smoak and now Hendricks. Two fringe MLB players with no options. Doesn't make much sense.
  5. lol. They pick up a guy to be their 6th-8th starter a day after the World Series. Relax.
  6. This is the problem with the Jays. They should either have a fire sale or make big signings, but they'll do neither and be happy with big weekend crowds.
  7. Just like every low cost move. Good job.
  8. Won't he definitely get offered arb? Unless some deal with Lind gets axed, they're just throwing 150k away. Apparently that's not an insignificant amount. Oh, I misread the context of your post, nevermind.
  9. Me too if they are in rebuild mode. It seems like they might trade Lind and let Smoak play everyday, which would be a terrible decision and mean they are very tight on payroll. Either that or he's on the bench which would also be a bad decision.
  10. This guy reminds me of Casey Kotchman. Big prospect who looked like he could turn into a huge power hitter because he was a big 1B with some plate discipline. Hopefully a pass.
  11. Remember when he wanted to marry a Canadian woman to run for Toronto mayor? Ford vs. Canseco would have been a great battle.
  12. Agree. But you're speaking to the guy who only speaks in terms of fangraphs, so don't bother.
  13. The Rays signed bad character players, maybe they'll sign a bad character manager (Ozzie Guillen).
  14. I wonder if Minnesota will be giving him a call.
  15. Lind has an option for 2016, that seems to be missed by some people here.
  16. No I'm saying this because I want them to be the Dodgers, much like you do.
  17. They should sign Roberston. Legitimate top tier closer with plenty of years left, assuming he stays healthy.
  18. I think they sign him and it wouldn't be the worst thing. Short term he's the best option unless AA gets really creative. It's a move that given the circumstances they probably should make, as much as the Saunders trade idea sounded interesting.
  19. Yeah I don't know how they came up with that. Anyways, isn't there a disproportionate amount of cheap seats at the Rogers Centre? I think the 2nd cheapest seats are $26 (non-"premium" game), so the average is a pretty bad indication.
  20. Does anyone know of a site that gives some in depth hockey stats? The stats will obviously never be nearly as good as baseball, but all I can find is stuff related to Corsi and Fenwick, these aren't overly useful.
  21. Sure there's probably some luck and most relievers are volatile but there's a select few closers who are really good bets to continue dominating year after year. There's not many of them but this is why I'm not against giving an elite closer a big contract. Guys like Holland are pretty rare, unless he gets hurt I can see him being great for several years.
  22. You're right actually. It was talked about a bit, but I don't remember it being a main theory. The article was good for people who don't follow the Jays religiously. I fear that Beeston was lying. As much as I think they will probably sign Melky, what's going to happen is they won't do anything else and then they'll say we tried but the right deal for the free agent or trade wasn't there for us. I'm a genius, right?
  23. Not sure if posted but nice little write up about the Jays upcoming offseason on MLBTR http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/offseason-outlook-toronto-blue-jays-6.html Sums up lots of stuff. Interesting that they talk about Rogers spending 5.2 billion to get NHL rights as a reason why the Jays couldn't add payroll. That wasn't talked about too much on this board IIRC.
  24. http://www.thetoptens.com/worst-maple-leafs-trades-last-5-years/ A lot of those weren't that bad and if they were they were at least pretty insignificant. The Raycroft one obviously hurt. He sucked.
  25. Well that trade worked out at least.
