  1. Overall the news is disappointing. After non-tendering him there was hope they'd get a more capable 1B/DH. Maybe there is still some hope, at 1 million some team (Twins? Marlins if they can't sign anyone?) could pick up his contract.
  2. I'd prefer Melky over Markakis even though he'll be a bit more pricey. That being said, if they can get Saunders without giving up much and make a run at a starter instead, that's clearly the best option. That injury history though... you'd have to figure AA is staying away.
  3. lol. You made the exact same post on the old message board. Funny guy.
  4. Doesn't sound like he wants to trade any starters or even Estrada/Hendricks.
  5. They have one of the lowest payrolls. Apparently they'll be aggressive this offseason, I could see a few bigger acquisitions.
  6. Agree completely it is quite annoying. Project Pillar at whatever you want, but he's more likely to be completely useless than the others mentioned. Relying on him to platoon with a guy coming off of back surgery is stupid. LF is a much bigger need than 2B. You can live with all defence/no bat at one of the middle infield positions but it creates a big hole wasting a corner outfield spot on weak hitters.
  7. Stop homering on s***** Jays players. Callaspo is better than all of them.
  8. Why? I don't understand you guys. He's a small but not insignificant upgrade over the garbage the Jays are trotting out there right now. No team has good players at every position, but they can patch the holes as best as they can.
  9. He's better than Izturis and Goins. I'd give him a look but not guarantee him an everyday role.
  10. Considering AA is moving away players with injury histories I don't think there's a chance they land Kemp. Let someone else take a risk on his 21 mil/yr contract.
  11. Mayberry, Dirks, Pillar, Smoak. There's no way all of these guys are on the opening day roster. No way.
  12. Good idea. It will be interesting to see if Smoak is on the opening day roster. If he is you have to assume they're giving him a shot be an everyday player. No point in having a player like that on the bench, but then again they had 3 catchers for a while...
  13. If they could get rid of Reyes to free up some cash, they could sign Asdrubal/Lowrie, find a left fielder and maybe have enough cash to make a run at Lester or Shields. This is video game talk but I felt after the Lind trade there would be a major shake-up and so far the Jays have been the most active team this offseason. If they were ok trading within the division Reyes would be a good fit for New York. They were asking about Rollins last week. I think they hold onto Reyes, but more big moves are coming IMO.
  14. This deal seems really lopsided, Lawrie has elite potential but Donaldson is already there, can anyone rationalize this from the A's perspective? Is their budget that tight that they don't want to pay Donaldson arbitration? What a sad day for the A's if that's the case.
  15. Totally agree, Rodriguez would be a nice pickup if they can make room for him.
  16. It's crazy that in his age 40 season he's getting paid $25 million. Cincy is a mid market team, you have to wonder if they ask him to waive his no trade clause the next time he has a good season.
  17. A lot of people think Toronto sucks for a number of reasons. Get over it.
  18. Yeah that's what I mentioned in the last post. I still think he has the best ability to do it more than anyone else today, but I doubt it. Maybe one day in the not too distant future, though.
  19. Darvish had 277 in 209 innings in 2013. I doubt he can lower his walks and keep his K rate similar, so you're probably right.
  20. Sean Nolin put up mediocre stats in AAA this year. He's marginally above a throw-in prospect.
  21. Bruce has ridiculous power potential, 30 HR is not nearly what he is capable of. It's not like he is Mark Reynolds, trading for him would be a risk but one that may pay off in a huge way.
  22. I didn't realize it's been trending up for that many years, thanks. So then yes, we should see it.
  23. I don't know, weren't K/9 extremely high for starters this season? If offence continues to decline post-steroid era, we should see it eventually?
  24. If someone current can do it, Darvish is my pick. I don't think he'll ever keep his walks down (without reducing his Ks) enough to reach it, but he already had 270 or w/e it was a couple of years ago. Not too far away.
