  1. If AA is rolling with Pompey and at some point Travis in what is supposed to be a contending year, we will learn a lot about his talent evaluation. This offseason looks like it will be a major retooling one, AA has a lot of different directions to go, if they don't deliver then he will be shown the door.
  2. You guys are hilarious.
  3. McCann gets 5/85 time for Martin to switch agents.
  4. You forgot to read the rest of his sentence.
  5. Can someone fire Damien Cox please? Thanks.
  6. No point in making that move. Scutaro is maybe a marginal upgrade and he's also 40 IIRC.
  7. Marlins discussing a potential record breaking $300 million deal for Stanton. That would be really interesting given their history.
  8. We don't have enough info to tell. One year they just suddenly go crazy and spend tons, and then do nothing. Huge spending sprees are totally pointless if you're not willing to improve the team afterwards. Maybe Rogers told AA to increase spending, and then put a stop to it?
  9. Interesting perspective, thanks for posting. However, I think you would agree it's just one of about 10000 ways of ranking team cores.
  10. I think Rasmus gets around that. It seems like every year people are blown away by how much free agents get, I could see that trend continuing (which is why I went super high on all my free agent contract predictions).
  11. I think a lot of them are bad. Not sure how they came up with this.
  12. If the Jays need to patch together some of the DH/OF which is a real possibility, I wouldn't mind giving Viciedo a look. Give him some ABs as a DH and dump Mayberry.
  13. Martin would be a significant upgrade but you guys need to be realistic FFS. The Jays are completely missing either a third or second baseman, and one or two outfielders, along with needing some bullpen help. I know Navarro isn't the best, but that should be far from the #1 priority.
  14. Nope, I predict they move Buehrle. The more you think about it, there's not a lot of scenarios where they will compete next year given the budget implications. AA will have to get very creative.
  15. It's hard to believe anything, but VMart suits this team the same way Ortiz did a couple of years ago. Shorter term player who can hit in between (or wherever) Bautista/EE. Thing is, if they sign him then we might be seeing Gose/Pompey everyday in the OF.
  16. Haha that did take a long time. I mean picking where guys like Brett Anderson sign isn't the most exciting thing to do, but overall it was a fun experience.
  17. Also a terrible trade for the Halos. The problem with Saunders is his injury history. AA said that would be a consideration and he did trade Lind already...
  18. Can't see Happ or Estrada getting it done, you guys certainly have wishful thinking.
  19. I agree, but like I said, they are not building a team for 3 years down the road. So that should be less relevant. Not irrelevant, but not a big factor.
  20. I'm super against giving fat players longer term contracts, but everyone knows the tables you posted so lets go beyond that. What are the other options for LF? The fact that they should be a win now team, and that Melky isn't that heavy like you said means maybe they should sign him. Also, I'd like to see those tables broken down by games played, do heavier players just get hurt more after 30? Then you start the debate as to whether Melky could become injury prone.
  21. So, apparently A-Rod admitted to drug use to the DEA back in January. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/11825652/alex-rodriguez-new-york-yankees-admitted-dea-used-peds
  22. Did not realize, Kendrick can reject trades to the Jays, Mets, Rays, or Marlins. So, Goins vs Izturis for 2B?
  23. Cubs to pursue Russell Martin (Heyman), there goes the Jays chances.
  24. How do performance bonuses/incentives work? And option years? Is it all just guaranteed years/dollars?
  25. Who was the last guy projected to hit .240 but got 15/yr? BJ Upton. But in all honesty, I like Martin but he will be 32 when the season starts. It's odd that a lot of people are advocating signing him when historically they've been opposed to giving 30 somethings a big contract. You want to be paying him over 15 million when he's 36? I don't know if that's the best investment.
