  1. That's the way I see it too. You have to be realistic but at the same time doing nothing to fix obvious problems with the roster is unacceptable. Right now the Jays need someone to play CF, LF, and 2B. It doesn't really matter how good the other 6 players are, if 1/3 of their lineup is garbage they aren't going anywhere since the pitching will presumably not be good enough to carry them. I do anticipate they will re-sign Melky, though. He apparently wants to play here unlike most other free agents, won't need more than 5 years, and the free agent market for the 3 positions they need is awful, so LF might be the only hole they can fix. With that being said, it's not the worst idea to sign him again. The only other thing I could see would be Alex panicking and takes a big risk to save his job so he splashes on Hanley. That's a long shot but wouldn't be overly surprising given the circumstances.
  2. I'm not arguing that. But he's a frustrating player to watch. It's hard to justify taking a player out of the lineup 2 games after you gave him a 3 year deal and gave him an A. It's small sample but Polak hasn't done anything to get the scratch IMO, he's been solid enough.
  3. I get the analytics side but your post is "lol".
  4. Well, they've seen Gardiner for more than 2 games. Franson came back and Percy has been impressive, I don't see who you take out of the lineup to put Gardiner in.
  5. IMO Gardiner needs to be benched. Leafs looked good tonight though. As for Florida, bring a team to Hamilton FFS.
  6. This is what has me worried. They seem to be a very popular team right now, especially with fans in their 20s. These fans do whatever is trendy, when this crop of players is gone they could go back to being a bottom 10 payroll. Wouldn't shock me one bit.
  7. They can afford it.
  8. Sign Scherzer, Melky, Asdrubal Cabrera. Trade for Kemp. Add a couple of bullpen arms.
  9. He was bad with the media. Rogers likes AA because he is the opposite, this will keep him around.
  10. What if they brought in Saunders to replace Rasmus? That might be a better idea, I have no clue how Saunders is in CF but he seems good in the corners. Might be passable and wouldn't hurt the batting order.
  11. People will always look at 2005 to criticize him. But he wasn't a bad GM IMO.
  12. Giants and Cardinals have won the last 4 NL titles. Seems fitting they play for the championship.
  13. Soriano is in. Top 9 might not be interesting to watch.
  14. How about that Costanza reference? Great commentary.
  15. I happily won all of mine. Over on the Jays, KC, and Seattle and under on Atlanta. I only picked teams I was confident about this year... although I homered on the Jays a bit and it worked out.
  16. What if Thole got hurt? Would the Jays be screwed?
  17. Jose Tabata DFA. Wouldn't be surprised if the Jays put a claim in.
  18. If payroll doesn't go up and they don't get some nice additions this off season then I suggest they blow it up. They have a nice core of young pitchers but not enough time to wait around until all of them hit their prime. This team has been pretenders every season they are decent. It's time to either address the issues or sell.
  19. That's an interesting idea.
  20. Why? His position is catcher and the Jays have 2 locked up and Norris is not great. I don't get it. Can you please give me the punch line?
  21. He came back to haunt you guys. All he said was that Toronto has a history of letting crappy but high paid players play. I remember that post.
  22. Jariax was one of the best casual posters who got flamed for saying something. I assume that's you lol.
  23. Haha that made me laugh. When's the last time they signed a big name free agent? AJ Burnett back in December 2005?
  24. That would be ok but having an ex ballplayer I find is more enjoyable. Buck and Tabler are laid back and goofy to an extent, that's the way you should watch baseball IMO. It's a relaxing past time. One guy I liked was Darrin Fletcher, but he was part time. If he did it everyday we'd probably get sick of him.
  25. Thanks. He's a must target. Should be at least better than Izturis.
