  1. omg you're an idiot as usual by saying that quote. I made a very valid point. Go back to your panties.
  2. No it doesn't. It's not pretending, it's negotiating what might be a reasonable price. Not even pursuing a player who you traded for, and helped you into the playoffs, or at least bringing your intent to the media, is an absolutely retarded idea. Shapiro made a big mistake here but you can turn a blind eye if you think you're smart. That's just my honest opinion here, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just think it was a big mistake on Shapiro's part.
  3. When did I say that? I said he showed no interest. IMO it's important to at least express interest in top tier free agents especially where the Jays are.
  4. Shapiro showed no interest in Price or other higher priced free agents. He's taking Donaldson to arbitration over a petty amount, and potentially hurting future negotations? He constantly talks about preserving the farm. Sorry but the team has a clear window to compete next season and they sign... Estrada and Happ? Are you kidding? Both those guys are useful, but it's time to take a chance for short term gain. Poor roster management IMO.
  5. Agree. It's a good article by Rosenthal. Shapiro is penny pinching and you worry that he might not be looking at the whole picture. The jury is still out on how he performs in a larger market like Toronto, IMO. I haven't been impressed yet. He could be a guy who sticks to his computer and doesn't often think outside of quantitative analysis, which would be a big problem obviously.
  6. but do you know when it's going to recover? No you do not, nobody does.
  7. Wtf are you replying to? I said it's a good idea to add talent at the deadline if it could work out. Buying high is not a bad plan if the timing is right, this is basic business sense BTS. The Price deal was great, from my perspective. I had a great time following the team and giving up a player who I think will be mediocre (even if not injured) was a great idea.
  8. Gallardo is useful on the cheap. You guys are hilarious jumping to conclusions that he will be overpaid. Nobody thinks he's a really good pitcher, but he's a useful piece for the back end of your rotation. Say what you want about him but he can pitch, and do so adequately well in the majors. A lot of teams roster players who shouldn't even be pitching in the bigs and Shapiro is trying to avoid that, I'd be all over Gallardo if his price has rightfully so come way down.
  9. You still need to move prospects to try and win a championship if you think it could work out. The David Price trade was great, if Shapiro is going to shy away from making a trade deadline acquisition I'll stop supporting him.
  10. "I was asked to comment on the subject of the Hall of Fame once again by some of my friends in the media. I will say thank you again for those who took the time to vote. I have distanced myself from the subject and have moved on. "Having said that, what is disheartening is getting a call or a text from family or friends about an ill informed player making an asinine statement. The latest coming from a former Blue Jays pitcher. Just to enlighten him, he was accused of using amphetamines by the 'strength coach.' You should be very careful when putting tweets out while not having your facts on the matter at hand." http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/baseball-hall-off-fame-roger-clemens-roy-halladay-steroids-ped-allegations-010716 I like how Halladay doesn't give a s*** and speaks his mind. Didn't he call our ARod last year on twitter? Funny guy.
  11. From what I've seen the advanced stats aren't very "advanced".
  12. He's going to learn quite a bit working in the Dodgers organization, I'd argue quite a bit more than working here. He's still young and spending time in that organization could help his career long term... Do you understand what investing in your own human capital means? That's exactly what he's doing, "how the f*** don't you understand this"?
  13. Exactly it's hilarious how people are saying he's stupid and made a poor career decision after all of the Friedman love. Look at Farhan Zaidi. He obviously had the credentials beforehand, but don't you think working under Billy Beane increased his value as a General Manager? Anthopoulos will probably be the same, he's investing in his own capital by working under Friedman/Zaidi and in a few years will probably be very highly coveted.
  14. That makes sense. Also AA is going to be working with one of the most highly regarded front offices in baseball. His stock as a potential general manager could easily be rising in this role more than if he were to stay with the Jays. Some people fail to see this and write him off as making a poor choice, which is incorrect.
  15. I really doubt this is the case, but if it makes you feel better to believe that...
  16. With nothing happening these days, this is good for a laugh:
  17. On the plus side we get to see Chapman vs Donaldson/Bautista/EE. Really elite fastball hitters there.
  18. Chapman, Betances and Miller are much better than anyone the Jays have, and by a wide margin. How are you not worried about the move? Chapman is probably the best reliever in baseball. They also have a much better rotation than the Jays.
  19. Yeah that may be true. I'm not sure what Penny has left but Carmona is definitely the type of guy you want as your 7th-8th starter and it looks like he'll be exactly that. You go with Hutch or Chavez as your #5 and have him ready for any injury. I mean really they just need a bunch of guys who can eat innings and keep the team in the game with their hitting, so Carmona > some unproven guy like Boyd or even Norris from early last year.
  20. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/blue-jays-sign-roberto-hernandez-brad-penny.html http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/blue-jays-claim-junior-lake.html I like all of these moves but you wonder if they're just building depth because they aren't going to make any more significant additions. Lake has a bit of upside and Carmona is a good depth piece since he's old and can pitch a bunch of non-garb (maybe close to garbage) innings if he has to.
  21. They could be terrible, I'm talking about taking them at longshot odds to win the division which is pretty weak. Gotta do the projections still.
  22. AL Central will be an interesting division to watch. Chicago could be good with Frazier and guys like Rodon, Garcia and even Lawrie (to some extent) looking to take a big step forward. Not sure what the odds are now but I'd be interested in putting $$ down on them taking the division.
  23. IMO the Blue Jays have a poor grasp on evaluating their expected profits and other teams are probably the same. Player valuation is one small part of it, but they make terrible cost decisions with poor marketing. For example I believe their ticket pricing system is retarded.
  24. We all know how that one ended lol
  25. It depends on how you look at it. If he doesn't make the rotation right away, and struggles with his fastball command again, he'll be useless in trade talks.
