  1. Liriano is making a lot of money and has been around the league a long time. Sure he's having a poor season but you're going to give him 2 starts to decide whether he'll stick? Sounds like a terrible idea.
  2. How likely is it to mess with some of the starters? You'd think they would be more likely to benefit from it. Starters rest 6 days (or more) many times throughout the season with off days/rain outs etc so it shouldn't be a problem.
  3. Gregor Chisholm ‏@gregorMLB 4m4 minutes ago #BlueJays are going with a six-man rotation for the time being. Atkins said Liriano and the rest of rotation signed off on the move. Looks like they want Sanchez to stay in the rotation for the foreseeable future. Estrada has had some back problems this year (which could resurface) so it's a good idea to give him some rest. None of the other 4 are clearly big enough upgrades over each other at the moment so I think it's a good move.
  4. First thing that came to mind when I saw this thread!
  5. Maybe two prospects in the 50-100 range. Nobody is giving up an A prospect, whatever you define that as, for 2 months of Bautista. Price (unquestionably worth more than Bautista) basically took only Norris to get. Obviously markets change every year but you'd be pretty shortsighted to give up any top prospect for him.
  6. It's not even just dumb from a PR standpoint, it's also dumb from a baseball standpoint. Some people are overestimating what they could get for 2 months of a 35 year old RF who is basically a DH. The return is likely pretty minimal that it would be stupid to trade him when the team has a real shot at a deep playoff run.
  7. Ya exactly what I meant but in less words
  8. That's a really terrible argument. The team is in a playoff race and is going to trade one of their best players for a prospect, or a lesser player who is controlled for longer? You do realize the return on 2 months of a player isn't that spectacular, right? There's a difference between trading Bautista a few months ago or in the offseason vs. now, so hopefully you realize that.
  9. Sorry but trading Bautista would be one of, if not the stupidest thing the franchise has ever done. Not gonna happen.
  10. I'm sure they have a pretty good analysis as to what kind of player they can expect this year and potentially moving forward.
  11. Exactly. They need to stop locking threads if they want the forum to remain interesting.
  12. "The majority of fans think he's a moron." Where's your proof on this? From my experience talking to many Jays fans, they think he's old but interesting and knows the game. Why are you making up stats, unless you have something to back it up?
  13. Upton is a RH hitter but okay I see what you mean I was just being a goof and nitpicking
  14. I 100% agree with this. Devlin is extremely boring- basketball IMO is a much easier sport to do play by play for and he does that pretty well. His lack of knowledge and stories makes him unbearable to listen to. Buck always has pretty interesting/funny things to say and from what I can tell most fans really like him and Tabler.
  15. Abreu would be a nice transition from EE, obviously not as good but one of the best options to replace him. The problem is they just signed Smoak and trading for Abreu would be the writing on the wall for Edwin's exit, which would potentially hurt the team's chemistry down the stretch.
  16. How does he have the same skillset? Carrera is more of a contact hitter, Upton strikes out a ton and struggles with his OBP but their power is not comparable. Defensively it's debatable but I think Upton is probably still better. Regardless their skillsets are very different.
  17. So it's the best out of what 4-5 places? I thought this board knew what a small sample size was. I find the Yankees message board to be a lot more tolerable and interesting when I read it. There's actually a variety of opinions and more interesting discussion even after considering that they have a larger fanbase. But maybe that's just me- if you guys like being a "Cheers" type of message board with a short list of common posters then good, embrace it for what it is. I just think there are a lot of people out there who would bring some good discussion to the board if some things were different.
  18. Matt Moore is and always was a garbage pitcher. Nice strikeout stuff but not enough control for the majors. Hopefully the Jays stay far away.
  19. How is it a dead issue? The Reds wanted to convert Chapman to a starter a few years ago and he said he wanted to be closer but they were still tempted to stretch him. If the Jays approached Osuna he might consider changing his mind.
  20. Thanks! I went away in part because it has been the same posters, posting the same (in my opinion) stuff all the time. That's not a knock on anyone who has a certain viewpoint, but it got really boring reading the same stuff over and over. What I meant by saying posters are rude wasn't meant to sound like being a bitch like one poster suggested, it was just that the board is very unaccepting of some opinions- some posters will suggest that it's because they are smarter but that is just their ignorant opinion and not factually true. Anyways, not trying to create anything more than what this is. I'm a huge baseball fan and find the forum to be not as good as it could be. Is Stro Show going to pitch well tonight?
  21. I had a long hiatus posting on the board, and now that I have been reading again I have a few suggestions I'd like to post: -The main posters are the same. Let's be honest but there are many fans out there who, if they were attracted to the board, would be valuable contributors and give different views that I think a lot of us would appreciate. From what I remember a lot of people are very rude to people who have different perspectives and this is probably driving away activity on the forum. -The threads are too crowded. I think I speak for a lot of people on this- when news comes out it too often gets lumped in around baseball, prospects or some related thread. I think encouraging more threads would make it better for people who come here for the latest news stories. I do not see a problem with creating smaller threads as long as they are news or opinion based and obviously not blatant troll threads. -When I left, threads were getting locked because of a few posters ruining the fun for everyone. Not locking threads so that people can talk about a trending topic would go a long way with improving board activity. Most people enjoy talking about controversial topics in general, so a few idiots shouldn't ruin an interesting discussion. Overall I think the board is doing a poor job attracting new and potentially interesting members, and I wanted to share a few of the main reasons I think need to be considered.
  22. oh wow are you really debating the term "under the radar" here? He's under the radar to casual fans in Ontario. Most Jays fans won't realize that the Red Sox acquired a very good pitcher. Obviously for people who follow the game it's a pretty big move for them. Relax lol
  23. For us who are on the forum sure. He's less of a household name than perhaps anyone else as valuable.
  24. I like the idea. His low injury risk makes him basically a lock for 200 innings. As much as people hate him he's worth having around.
