  1. Honestly I don't really know. It was a bit of a dirty play but something that was allowed although frowned upon not too long ago. This is why I don't agree with the call although they did change the rule.
  2. I thought it was sort of allowed and thought it was dumb of them to overturn it. As someone said, the pussy world continues on.
  3. The worst thing is I don't think it affected his throw. I really don't think that should have been overturned. It seemed really stupid...
  4. It seems like total ********. I don't know how that could possibly happen...
  5. It's almost as if a young pitcher is showing improvement. Wow!
  6. In the past, Gibby has not been afraid to move the middle of the lineup ahead in the order if there wasn't a good leadoff candidate. Didn't Donaldson leadoff a few times last year? How about the days when Bautista was hitting 2nd for a while behind Reyes or Melky? They should just let Donaldson leadoff, or try Tulowitzki again.
  7. I hope everyone watches Sanchez's start carefully to see if his control is there or not. Even a start where his line looks good might not be very telling since he's facing a weak lineup. On the other hand if he just has one bad inning and looks good otherwise it's still a positive outcome overall.
  8. Seems like a little too much for a guy who's probably trash now. 750 k if he makes the team is not insignificant
  9. Estrada if possible, if Tulowitzki has a good season his contract can be moved.
  10. I just get annoyed when players sign for something and then some posters look at fangraphs and call a certain team's front office retarded. But anyways... yes for sure they have their own evaluations and some of Bautista's valuable is hard or impossible to quantify. I'd think you'd agree that they should sign him before April so that it is not a distraction during the season. Also it would be quite annoying hearing the media talk about it nonstop.
  11. Yeah I totally agree with this. The $$$/WAR argument for Bautista is really terrible and I hope no real fans are using that as a basis of their decision of whether to sign him. He's obviously worth quite a bit more than his SABR stats and I hope the team pays him accordingly. How much more is another issue but they should be willing to sign him for a hefty price IMO.
  12. Don't be stupid. If you look back at what the majority of posters expect for some former prospects, and compare that to what the Jays actually got, the general consensus at the time would be that the team made a terrible trade. Obviously the Dickey trade didn't work out, but some idiots were actually expecting Nestor Molina to be a good pitcher, and Travis Snider was going to be a legit stud.
  13. People overate the value of prospects?
  14. "Just goes to show how much some overrate prospects." How does that equate to "prospects suck"? Once again, you are making things up out of nothing.
  15. reedjohnsonfan: Can't see them doing that but then again most were in shock that the Jays gave up Molina for Santos. Just goes to show how much some overrate prospects. Exactly how it still works on this board lol
  16. lol these are two completely different scenarios. I only hope you are joking.
  17. You should take a look at BigCecil's posts. Unless you're content posting ineffectual things weakly related to what people post, trying to insult them. In that case have at it.
  18. I'd like to see how the organization projects their revenues because for reasons I'd rather not write an essay about on this board I believe they do a terrible job with their marketing and also projections as a whole. The PR stuff I am confused by has a small but not insignificant impact on their profits and I agree at the end of the day winning is the biggest factor for ticket sales, but not the only important one.
  19. Firstly, thanks for an honest and non arrogant response. These are hard to come by on this forum some days. I don't think they should give insulting offers, like they did with Delgado after 2004. I believe team could have done a better job by protecting their image this offseason. They just had their best year in over 2 decades, fans expect them to try and take that next step, especially considering the short-ish term nature of their roster. Shapiro mentioned building a sustainable winner, which is great and all but the team is already very close... it feels like they might be sacrificing a little bit in the short term by not making that one last aggressive move because they are afraid of what might happen to the team in a few years. Their roster is so strong that their marginal wins are more valuable than they are for more teams. Their willingness to pay for an extra win should be very high right now, but it doesn't quite feel like it. The media and fans are always going to want more, but from what I've gathered Shapiro hasn't been well received so far... this is just my perception from talking to people out in the real world (i.e. away from fangraphs). I think they will have a very good team, but the Red Sox are a bit better IMO (and betting odds as well as projections reflect this). Even if they think they can build a sustainable winner, the Yankees and Red Sox will continue to have 2 of the largest payrolls so I don't think chances like this will continue to come around often. I am not drinking the Kool-Aid and believing that they will contend year in, year out anytime soon.
  20. No... I'm saying that the Jays are not protecting their image very well. In my opinion.
  21. Once again I am baffled by the fan disregard for PR moves. The goal is to max profits and sell tickets, they need to at least try and act like they are trying to sign Price, and if not try and portray them as players for some of the bigger free agents. You may ask why, but all the big market teams (which Toronto should be, or at least trying to act like) shouldn't be disappointing to their fanbase the way Shapiro has been. The casual fans are already upset with the way he has approached things, make fun of them all you want for only coming out when the team is a contender but ticket sales rely on the Jays being a legitimate contender and threat for signing big names. Right now they seem like a medium market team trying to stay relevant with the Red Sox.
  22. lol you think that's the way negotiations work? You're hilarious if you think the way you posted.
  23. He seems like a good fit to slide into LF regardless, but if Saunders seems healthy they can battle it out or of course platoon which would make more sense. I'm not sure what he's looking for, but I've always felt like AJax is a very useful player on any team, does anyone think the Jays could make a play for him, despite them not being in the rumor mill at all lately? Would be an interesting target IMO.
  24. Exactly... so some idiots who pretend to be good posters need to take a back seat as usual
