Do you think they should trade Hutchison? If they could get a decent prospect for him and then just sign Colon that could be a great idea IMO. If Hutch doesn't start in the rotation they should probably just deal him to a rebuilding or low budget team.
Nope. Same WAR, a descriptive stat as you seem to understand. Different upsides and talent level. That's my opinion, let's not argue because we've both looked at fangraphs and watched both guys pitch in 2015.
I like Miller, I think he could become a good #2 pitcher... obviously the Arrieta comparison is wishful thinking. That being said this is clearly a terrible trade for the DBacks, not defending that one.
Um, where did I imply that his ERA was more indicative of how he pitched than anything else? I just said you guys look at a few metrics and call it a day which is generally the vibe I get when I read this forum.
NJH is right saying nothing about his skill set screams future ace, but he has a lot more potential than Drew Hutchison IMO. Here's a fairly positive article I glossed over for you to read:

He's a young controllable pitcher with big upside and was highly touted since he was in high school. Despite what their xFIPs and WARs are, he has a lot more trade value than Drew Hutchison and rightfully so. The Braves made a very good move trading 1 year of Heyward for him.
He was a top pitching prospect for 2-3 years before he came up and could still get better. You guys just like to s*** on players who have a lower ERA than xFIP and ignore the big picture.

Unsurprisingly, Urias and Seager are not part of the trade. Neither is De Leon. Who's going Peraza maybe?
Well the thing is, if they're not going to offer something competitive they maybe shouldn't offer anything. He wasn't going to take a discount to sign here, and even if he was the offer probably would've been an embarrassing low ball like we saw with Delgado in 2004.
I agree.
With the Reds likely trading Chapman, what would they be able to get? It the Jays are rolling with Stro + 4 mediocre guys, he is about as sure fire as you can get out of the bullpen. Gotta love the idea of guys like Ortiz facing Cecil AND Chapman in the same game.
You'd think it might've been a stretch to sign BOTH guys. Pitching market is deep, but clearly there's 2 legit aces who are going to get paid. It's going to be interesting to see what the 2nd tier gets, Zimmermann got I believe a little more than I expected in the FAP contest.
lol yep. Yelich could be an awesome player, and Ozuna should be a very good player too. For whatever reason last year wasn't good to him, they soured on him way too fast IMO.
