I think everyone on Jays Centre is aware that this team never coasts into the playoffs. It always comes down to the last week of the season.  It will again this year.   At least we have some meaningful games to watch while being in a constant state of frustration.   Six weeks ago we all thought the season was over.

In the end the universe will unfold as it was meant to.  Enjoy the ride if you can. If you can't, well as Spanky says, join the echo chamber.

I'm just spit balling while watching the game, it's not that serious. Fact checking everything you say in a GDT is a bit extreme. The reactions to something this irrelevant is mind boggling though.

It took me like 15 seconds to look that up. I did so because it sounded f*cking insane, which is was.

Before I say things that clearly sound insane, I typically pause and think - maybe I should look that up before I put my foot in my mouth and say something dumb.

Probably the last game.

At least it beats getting eliminated in Aug.

M's up 3-1 in the 7th. Have to hope that lead holds and the Guardians lose.

The Jays went 8-7 this season against the Rockies, Royals, and A's. Kinda glad the schedule gets a bit tougher now. At least losing to competent teams, even if under .500, is less embarrassing.

We scored 0 runs.  This isn't on the pitching.

Yeah that was said as the pitcher was pitching like trash, well before the offense decided to s*** the bed the entirety of the game. Ah well

Remember when people were arguing he should be the fulltime catcher and we should trade Kirk??

Yeah…

Yep, I said in past that Valenzuela should be the #1 catcher and we should consider trade Kirk for very good prospects. Obviously Valenzuela no a #1 catcher, but he's still an upgrade on Heinneman as backup for Kirk. The problem of Jays offense is no Valenzuela, but all the pinch hitters Atkins bring to be in the starting lineup. Sanches, Straw, Lukes, Springer are no good enough to be in starting lineup. Can say the same about Gimenez, but if we remove him in SS, the defense will be awful, and it's no so easy find a SS who can be good offensively and defensively. But to replace Jesus, Straw and Springer with better players shouldn't be difficult.

Yeah…

crazy take

I'm excited about the potential in BV but Kirk was always #1 plus I think some forget he missed quite a bit of time so it took him a while to get going

Os bring Guardian down and get closer to Jays.

A 3 turtle derby is on to the final weeks.

Yess thought they were gonna blow it there. O’s took care of business, now let’s take care of them!

The Indians (now the guardians) play to the boxscores, so if we had won, Cleveland would just win anyway.  Texas too.  So yea it sucks but that was a win in my books.  Vlad could be starting to heat up next series, an off day usually kick starts him.

For me, I enjoy sports for what it is... a nice distraction from life for a few hours. Oddly, I think knowing way more about the sport than the average fan actually makes it easier to let go of bad results most of the time.

Yeah, it's frustrating watching a half-billion dollar dumbass play like a replacement level scrub, but I still have to go to work/school/practicum tomorrow whether he hits well or not, so ... his failures or successes, or team failures or successes really don't matter to my life. When this kind of thing bothers people to the point of screaming at clouds, just turn it off.

The lack of Keys plate appearances when the team can't hit a HR by accident is baffling to me. Realistically, does Keys have a chance in hell of still being in this org a few months from now (or whenever the lockout is over)? I'd put the odds of that at less than 50% unless he learns how to play LF, and even then I would think getting JS to bench Lukes (assuming Barger in RF) in that scenario would be pretty damn hard. JS is giving Bateman the type of run that I don't recall him ever giving to another young player in his entire time here (when the team was actually competitive). Unfortunately any 1B prospect the Jays stumble across over the next decade will be obsolete because of Ed Rogers so that plays a part as well.

Plant Sean Keys in LF and see what you’ve got

This playoff "crawl" is costing us a lot of opportunity to evaluate players for next year.  I love it and hate it all at the same time.
