It all comes down to today's game

Lose, and it's over

Win, and it's destiny

Not just for us.  For all baseball fans every where.

Shapiro and Rogers are powerful and if Jays play say 30-40 more, meaningful, high TV ratings, games in 2026 they will not want to lose revenue in 2027 and they will be powerful brokers to get season going on time in 2027.

If Jays lose tonight, Vlad is owed 500 million for .250 5 45 a year with 60% ground ball rate and TV rating tank for meaningless last 20 games, Shapiro and Rogers will look at the books, and see a long strike might help them.

For fans everywhere of every team today is everything.

Given the importance the following must be implemented for the next 20 games

1.  All decisions made by AI.  Schneider looks at ipad, ipad gives him lineup, pitching changes, pitch sequences, defensive positions, etc.  Schneider relays it, no decisions made by him though.

2. All means of sign stealing activated -- banging on garbage cans, signs coming in from coaches, man in white allowed to all games, hacking pitch-com OK.

3. Amphetamines and horse steroids put in candy tray before games - it's one test a year right?  And everyone probably has gotten their test by now.

99.99% of the time I would not advocate any shady behavior in any situation, except this one, given the importance.

Toronto wraps up the Cleveland series today and then it's six against KC and the Athletics before they face Baltimore. Need to somehow not play down to KC and "Oakland." They CANNOT lose either of those series. Must win today and then at least win 4 of 6.

Meanwhile, Baltimore enters a season defining gauntlet beginning tonight. Boston for 4, then Cleveland and Toronto. And their schedule to end the season after that is hard - the Mets (only easy one) and then Milwaukee, Toronto, and the Yankees. Yikes!

I think, even though Baltimore is tied with Toronto, we should want them to play well against Boston and take 2 games so they go into the Cleveland series with confidence and hopefully win that series. And then we bank on Toronto simply winning the head to heads against Baltimore, and/or Baltimore getting stomped later on by those tough remaining opponents.

Texas doesn't really have an easy schedule either.

  • vs. the Rays (4 game series)
  • @ SEA
  • @ ARZ
  • vs. Boston
  • vs. Toronto
  • vs. NYM
  • @ MIN

But Cleveland does. So we've got to win this game today to pull within a half game and then take the tiebreaker. Baltimore and Texas should take care of themselves.

Today is the most important and meaningful game the Jays have had in over 20 years.

It is literally the most important game in franchise history if you consider the meaningful games gained.

Win game 7 of World Series - 0 meaningful games gained

Win game 7 of ALCS - potentially 7 meaningful games gained.

Win game to clinch playoffs - potentially 20 or so meaningful games gained.

Win game 141 to get within 0.5 of 3rd wild card - potentially 43 meaningful games gained.

In terms of quality of life, you are looking at the difference between 43 late summer and fall days spent bullshitting on this message board then turning on Sportsnet for an exciting meaningful game, vs early darkness and despair on the road to 4:45 sunsets.

Maybe he's referring the the killer inside him

Well, it's official. This thread stays UNLOCKED.

I guess if they ever get mathematically eliminated I will just delete it entirely and pretend we never did this

Are you a masochist?

I'm hearing a lot of chatter out there that the bats might finally be waking up?

18 runs in each of the last two series against two good pitching staffs.

We have playoff Vlad now.  Good springer.  And basically anyone else who was struggling is now back.

If (or should I say WHEN) the Jays make the playoffs, the first round opponent will be the lowly AL West winner.

And if (or should I say WHEN) we win that, we would then play the White Sox in the ALDS.

Is it safe to say that the World Series will be easy to make? That's pretty much two byes straight into the ALCS.

Correct the Al is very weak this year.  50% chance of World Series if we get in.

then we just hope the braves have an off series and we can definitely beat them.

Someone here said we will be facing the Astro’s in the wild card.  We may need to start an astro injury tracker thread.

not saying I’m wishing injuries on any players because I’m not

but it would be nice if Alvarez wasn’t in the lineup

Just keep winning every series. I don’t like the starters the Jays have lined up against the Royals but they have no choice with the injuries. Just have to find a way to win with Spaghetti and Taillon starting games down the stretch.

21 games left

  • @ KC
  • @ Sacramento
  • vs. Baltimore
  • vs. Detroit
  • @ Texas
  • @ Baltimore
  • vs. Cincinnati

Seems like usually down the stretch we’re playing the Yankees and the Rays. With this schedule the boys control their destiny

13-8 gets you to 83-79. WC3 will not be .500 so that gives you a margin of error of 1 game. I know Texas for sure has the tie breaker, not sure vs the Indians

Cleveland has Detroit, Texas has the Rays and Baltimore has Boston

Have to have a couple sweeps and can’t get swept. The Texas series is going to feel like a playoff series

Just secured the tie breaker vs Cleveland last night. Damn rays certainly aren’t doing us any favors getting whipped by Texas
