When I was looking at fangraphs odds mariners have 30% we have 21%.  They are 4 back in the division and 2.5 games back of us

Their odds to win the division are better than to win a wild card slot.

Oh that makes sense

AL West is weak AF

Gabriel Moreno with the clutch 2 run double off Tolle to put the DBacks over the Red Sox 3-2

That kid can really play, huh???

Everyone losing or lost today but the twins.  Not one good thing has ever happened to this team.  Anytime we win someone else wins or we lose then someone wins.  The only 2 scenarios are lose or lose.  We need the lockout more than ever.  We need less teams and more playoff spots

I was telling my wife that this was genius.  Perfect loss.  Saved their bullpen, had some laughs.

Jays loss today where they used 4 leverage relievers could lead to a loss tomorrow.

Seattles genius 22-0 loss led to a win the next day.

They deserve their 30% 'make the playoffs' odds.  We deserve our 15% or whatever it is tomorrow.

In fact I lower ours to half that 7.5% and increase mariners to 60%.

Can't burn the bullpen day after day in one run loss.  Win or lose 22-0.  The mariner way.  The right way.

I missed most of the game saw the 7-1, assume another day to rest the bullpen then got back to see the bullpen burnt in a demoralizing 1 run loss.   A good loss day turned to a "might lead to a loss tomorrow" day.

Seattle fan now.  They lose the right way, probably now win 4 in a row, maybe lose 32-4 with position players going 7 innings, then 3 more wins.

If we don't win tomorrow we are closing the playoff tracking thread.  I will then make the tough choice to pick a new team.  We have a fire ban but I will be burning all my merch.  My Devon Travis Jersey.  My Justin Smoak jersey.  My Carlos Delgado and Shaun Green jerseys.  My junior jays gear.  My Jays t-ball ball.

I will look into this Seattle team you are talking about.  I will also consider Boston.  Oakland was my first choice but they have kind of fallen off lately.

Jays are on fire

Meanwhile Rangers, Orioles, Mariners, Tigers all appear to be in the same dumpster fire

My hope was that we could tread water during this difficult part of the schedule.

Instead, we've gone 11-6, have made up about 4 games in the WC standings, and have passed 5 teams.

3 game set against the Yankees this weekend and then the easiest closing schedule I've ever seen over the final 5 weeks.

The Playoffs will be easy to make.

How are the Tigers 61-66 with a +82 run differential?  That's insane.  Reminds me of the 2015 Blue Jays.

They just don't have that dawg in 'em

Tigers = +82 run differential and NO DAWG = lottery bound

Jays = -56 run differential but they do have that DAWG in 'em = the playoffs are easy to make

The AL West is led by a team that's ONE game over 500

Houston getting blown out

That's another team to cheer against. We don't need Texas to necessarily suck, we need one of Texas and Houston to suck

good post, sorry to accuse you of some stuff fin the game thread today.  It was actually Jays24 who was the culprit

So we get to play Texas still.  Texas gets to play the twins.  And like Laika says Houston sucking more than they already do is another backdoor option.  But it would be nice if the twins and rangers start losing more, their schedules are moderately difficult to finish the year

Posted

No point crying over spilt milk but that 7 game stretch at home vs. Houston and Texas where we lost 6 straight, including getting swept 4 straight by Texas is huge right now. Especially with three of them being by 1 run and two of them by two runs (one in extras). Just a string of very winnable games.

And not for long by the look of things....

Could very well end up with 4 of 6 playoff teams being from the AL east, with the 5th AL east team barely missing.

Possibly. Would be wacky to see 3 AL East teams as WC entries but... im here for it
