But where are the goal posts? What are you asking them to repeat?

I guess I am just confused about what the concern is, lol.

Yes, baseball is random and players get hurt or suck out of nowhere all the time. That could happen. The sky could fall on the Blue Jays. Chicken little! It's possible. Be scared of the sky if you want. But he team is deep and projects well. What more do you f***ing want lmao.

Kyle Tucker in right field and 2nd in the lineup

But I can't have that LOL so we'll make the most of what we do have

(not one of the doomsayers, just sayin...)

Have you considered that maybe it’s you, and not all of the projection systems, who is wrong?

Why even play the games... lets use the projected standings and call it a season lol.

HOF pedigree

80 hit tool

3 seasons with 30+ HR.  One 48 HR season and could have won MVP if Ohtani hadn't pitched that year

Record setting home run derby performances

But somehow thinks he's an oppo-field contact slasher until a Popkins pep talk after a bad few weeks in September?!?!?!

What a dumb retort.

You make claims that the Jays offense isn't strong enough.  You provide no evidence or theory to support this claim - just "trust me bruh" as only Chicken Little could.

BTS points out the projection systems suggest the Jays replacement for Bo and Tony (who didn't even help the team last year) are comparable - within a 5% difference.  We finished 4th in the league in runs (2nd in the AL) in 2025, so even if the absence of Bo and Santander hurts of the offense a bit - we're not looking at a below average offense.  This is a very logical, straightforward mindset for most.

But not you.  Instead, you're going to try discrediting to use of various projection systems - acting like if they aren't 1000% accurate that they are useless.

This is mind-numbingly stupid, even for you.  You can do better.

Jake Casey hit a homer today.   Great swing.  Looks like his Dad or John Olerud.

Just going by the stats he doesn't have that kind of talent college stats, college k/bb, and last year k/bb not that elite.

Like those guys hit .440 in their best college year with a 40-10 bb/k or something.   Olerud never even went to the minors Sean Casey hit like .350 in the minors and was in the majors already at Jake's age.

Cool guy to follow and you never know... but probably more on a Cavan Biggio path, get some playing time in the majors and hit .250 .340 .400 in a good season.

Vlad was an absolute beast in the playoffs so if he can be more of that in the regular season, then that definitely increases the upside of the team. Inconsistent 3-4 WAR Vlad isn’t quite as fun.

Sort of interesting A ball stats

One of the only Toronto guys at that level to combine power with plate skills

not many hitting coaches tell batters to go up there and "look to do damage"  that was a Popkins thing.  I bet Mattingly was kind of the opposite to this "use the whole field"...etc, and who knows what Martinez was telling him

You hear the Oppo thing from all the big guys, Pujols/Miggy etc. I can definitely see those guys getting in his ear too much. Also his pops.

There's nothing wrong with going to the opposite field if you are driving the ball like Vlad is capable of when he's locked in at the plate.

Using the whole field?  Sure

Focusing on hitting to the opposite field for a guy with Vladdy"s skills?  Naaahhh

Except… he literally just told us that approach is what was messing with him

Yeah, they suck. Just have full roboumps or the status quo. The interruption sucks.

He can go oppo with the best of em when he's locked in at the plate. He artificially limits himself when he slaps the ball the other way, but he's also fully capable of crushing a boatload of doubles and oppo tacos when he's lifting the ball.

Fair criticism.

I was hoping Santandar's bounce back + having Bo or Tucker could not only offset some of the regression in the lineup but help put us past the Dodgers if there was a rematch.

I am not sure Springer, Lukes, Schneider, Clement and Heineman can repeat their seasons.  Then on top we've seen Dodgers add the best closer and hitter in free agency that only widens the gap between us.

Those are the reasons for my comments.  Jays are still one of the best teams in the AL.

That's fair - and a much better retort.  I knew you could do it!

The reality is that nobody is really able to keep up with the Dodgers.  But the good news is that the best team doesn't always win...

I will forever believe that the wrong team won the 2025 world series. The Blue Jays outplayed the Dodgers for the series as a whole but the Dodgers did the bare minimum in crunch time to take the title.

He got Donny Baseball out of his head.  Glad he is gone.

They gotta make them a bit faster

Evidently it gets boring when the players continue to have successful challenges because they don't burn a chance and it happens over and over
