Your totally right on this.  People don't get that Vlad at his best was not once in a generation, but once in history.   Do you think you'll ever see an 18 or 19 year old have the kind of minor league seasons Vlad had.  You will not.  Do you think a Blue Jay will ever set the young player (22 and under) homerun record?   No they won't.  Do you think a Blue Jay will ever have a second half like Vlad did in 2024?  Probably not, this one could happen.  No Blue Jay will ever have a playoffs like Vlad did in 2025. 

Jo Jo Parker.  Exciting.  Wonderful.  Maybe he'll be the first 50 WAR Blue Jays position player.  Will he hit .400 as a 19 year old in double A?   No.  He is already 20 and only has 3 weeks in high A.   

When will the next Blue Jays to hit 48 homers as a 22 year old appear?  NEVER.

When will the next Blue Jays to hit .320 as an 18 year old in State side full season ball appear?  NEVER.  Juan Sanchez we all love and know he will grow to be wonderful and he hit 100 points less.  .220!

I don’t get why you post this in the wrong thread.  You have not contributed to my playoff tracker thread at all.  This game was highly relevant to that topic.  Sure it may be something around baseball but more suited for the tracking thread

Texas has a tough upcoming schedule and they just lost a deGrom start, which really stings them.

I think it's going to be difficult for Texas to even get to .500.

Would be really good for the White Sox to keep choking.

This is why the fire John Schneider thread isn't a complete joke.  I think maybe 2 or 3 organizations would consider it just because he hasn't been able to get the most out of Vlad/Springer/Okamota/Keys.

I mean you honestly think Schneider has allocated playing time to those 4 the best way possible to maximize their WAR?   This includes not load managing Vlad, not DHing Keys with Springer in left, not resting Okamota just a bit more (first year playing 160). 

To be fair we don't know how much of that is Schneider, how much the front office.

We all said this in 2022 and 2023.  What evidence is there that anything is going to change?

yep pretty much agree with all this

could bounce back next season - he used to do some intense workouts in the dr with a PT, I think he needs that again this off season + some skill development work with an external party (driveline....etc).

Agreed.

To be more clear, I think he has the physical ability to be a star.  I just don't think he has the mental ability to be a consistent star.  He sucks mentally.

Vlad will bounce back but we'll see how much.

A season like this lowers his ceiling and floor, and it's fairly dramatic.

Steamer Projections:

• Preseason: 152 wRC+
• Updated: 137 wRC+

So even with a bounce back, that's a pretty devastating drop off if you compound those projections over the life of his 14 year extension.

Byron Buxton To Undergo Season-Ending Hip Surgery

September 11th, 2026 at 4:25pm CST • By Darragh McDonald

The Twins won’t be getting Byron Buxton back this year. Manager Derek Shelton told reporters, including Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star Tribune, that Buxton will have arthroscopic surgery on his right hip next Friday. More details on his timeline will be available after the surgery but Shelton says it’s possible Buxton could be ready for the start of the 2027 season. He is on the 10-day injured list and can be transferred to the 60-day IL whenever the club needs his roster spot.
