Maybe, but the Brewers are smart and the Mets are the Mets

He had a big 2nd half, it'll always be health with him it seems.

I really didn't want him taking aat bats away from Barger

Now it's time for Atkins to trade for Donovan and sign Valdez, since their rivals get their men.

With Belli gone, Jays are set as FA's don't move the needle, the only change comes via trade.

Nah.  Bassitt would be a great bullpen piece.

Yes, but signing Framber Valdez at discounted price, should be see like a market opportunity for the Jays, especialy that next year, Gausman, Bieber, Berrios will leave in FA, and that our chance to sign Skubal or Peralta are less than 1 %. Also, Bieber he's far to be healthy and Berrios need to go. If we make a trade, will be to find improvement in LF or RF or at SS or 2B. The best option at 3B remain Clement/Okamoto, in OF, unless trading for someone like Tatis Jr, this won't worth trading assets like King, Parker for guys like Kwan, Nootbaar. But for De la Cruz no problem empty the farm and more, because we will get a star player.

Crazy AAV for Belli IMO.  Watch him go Chris Davis on the Yankees.

And here you have it folks, the captain of the Bellinger Fanclub has officially jumped ship which counts as a tacit admission that I was right about Belli this whole time.

Chalk up another W for the Sherriff.

Yanks and Bellinger were inevitable.

Their ballpark and his soft flies to RF are a perfect match and he's less useful to every other team in the league.

1. Agree. He was just squeezing them, seemingly with no other teams seriously competing for him

2. Are they ever, look at this:

I was the caption of the Belli club when he was available for a lower price.

The Sherriff, so called, doesn't know that contracts matter.

Another Boras masterclass. Hard pass on Bellinger at those terms.

I don't like (on the teams' behalf) any of the contracts that Bellinger, Tucker or Bichette got.  The AAV plus the luxury tax penalties are just massive.

Jays overextended by a year or two on Cease but they had to to fill their biggest need and know it was taken care of early in the off season

Honestly, both the Mets and Dodger completely f***ed the market the last couple seasons.

Ohtani for 700m, ok sure he's a unicorn i get it. But actually they're only paying him 450ish.

Then the Mets go stoopid mode and sign Soto for 700m straight.

And now these crazy high AAV short-term deals for Tucker and Bo.

I still think that Soto contract added at least 50-100MM to what the Jays had to give Vladdy.  LOL

A lot can go wrong but in a vacuum the Jays' contracts for both Vlad and Cease are looking good right now IMO.

At the end of the day I'm not unhappy with either

Glad we have both players.  Their AAV/luxury tax hit make the overall amounts more palatable

I'd have happily had Bo back for what the Phillies were supposedly offering too but that was never going to happen I guess

The way I look at it, teams like the Jays and Phillies made the other teams overpay. That's not always such a bad thing.

People laughed at the Mets and then they went crazy.  Aside from their defense at 3B, theyre looking scary as hell.

That seems like a ton to give up for 1 year of Peralta.  Great move for the Brewers.

Sproat is the best piece. Jett is probably a light hitting speedster type when all said and done.

The Mets got Myers too who is a solid SP.

Good

I'd love some NL team to beat the Dodgers in the post season this year

Their pitching is still ass overall

Both press conferences today were pretty funny. “What made you want to sign here?” Both Bo and Tucker tried to be convincing when saying anything but “these fools paid me double what I’m worth, how could I say no?”

Can’t wait to watch Bo attempt to play 3B. He’s gonna have to use the pitcher as the cut off man.

I wont be surprised if Mets make another trade for a 3B, so Bichette can be used DH or 2B. Btw Peralta didn't cost too much, its like if Jays will have giving Nimmala and Stanifer.

If Mets can get Skubal too will be great.
