Yamamoto has been dealing, though I suspect we will play much better this time around. We saw him once this series and we have a whole offday to prepare at home. Get the trajekt machine out and get ready for him. They are going to ride him 3 times through the lineup almost no matter what because their bullpen sucks so bad. Yeah this series is far from over, especially considering how Yamamoto looked in Game 2. Hopefully they have a better plan against him on Friday now that they’ve seen him. I think that Yamamoto was a little fortunate that Vlad's frozen rope wasn't a degree or two higher off of the bat as it may have landed in the seats otherwise.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Dodgers will still be the on-paper favourites in games 6 and 7 because of the pitching matchups Gausman vs. Yamamoto tilts heavily their way, maybe a 60-40 game And then game 7 is what... Scherzer supported by Bieber (2 IP? 1 IP?) and maybe Yesavage (1 P?) vs. Glasnow supported by Ohtani and Snell Some chatter about Ohtani being used as an opener for a possible game 7, something to do with not losing the DH when he comes out Would love to see them get some runs off Yamamoto early or work him so he can't throw 7 innings I have been expecting a Roki Sasaki blown save this series, maybe tomorrow is the day!

He's a guy that fills the strike zone so, if ya try to wait him out, you end up 0-2 the vast majority of the time, which is no bueno. He's not like Snell where you can rely on him throwing multiple balls out of the zone nearly every PA.

I'd be happy if he only threw 7 innings at this point. He doesn't get rattled by an early lead or anything. We got to break his rhythm somehow. Bring back the old hit & run strat that's non-existent today. Drop a bunt or two. Odds are we have to manufacture runs to get ahead of him (as much as I hate that term).

I think he fouled off both pitches. Just keep doing what you've been doing boys - find a way. It's time.
rydermike Verified Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Just heard the Snell interview. Wow my respect for him just dropped. You're a pro athlete, you get interview training. All he had to say was "I think I pitched well, but they took some great swings, they're in the World Series for a reason". Still let's you say you're good, but it's a simple complement. mphenhef 1

He didn't pitch terrible sure, but the excuses are worse than giving up the hits. Crybaby. mphenhef and Spanky__99 2
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Elite game from Alan Porter Those balls for Edgardo Henriquez, the pitcher was all over the place, earning no benefit of the doubt, and I think those were loopy breaking balls This is what is expected from an ump in the World Series I also love how the home plate ump in game 4 was yelling his calls out so loudly, lol

Bassitt can go 3 in game 6. Need Gausman to keep it tied or close for at least 5. Fastball21 1
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Right I forgot about Bassitt. He could go anywhere from 1 to 3 innings in 6. And then maybe an inning in 7 too if needed.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Will be interesting to see how Bassitt fares in free agency. He'll be 37 in February, but looks like he could be a good bullpen piece for 3 to 4 years yet.

Soak up innings as a starter in the regular season, then crank it up a notch and pitch great out of the pen in the playoffs. I know Bassitt makes it look easy and some believe all starters have this ability, but I don't think everyone has that ability. I'm certainly open to keeping Bassitt here for another couple of years in that role. I love that he as instrumental in recruiting Schrezer to sign here this offseason. He sold this clubhouse/team to Max and here we are - 1 win away from the title. It seems clear to me that all the complaining about Atkins and Schneider (and even previous comments from Bassitt?) were overblown. Spanky__99 1

He may not have called as good a game, but the Chuck Norris hammer strikes thrown by John Tumpane after strikeouts were absolutely sensational in game 4.
Alejandro Murphy Verified Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 MVP Vlad set the table in pivotal Games 4 and 5 (of course I have to mention Babe Schneider too). “Tone setter Vlad”. then let the two of the Jays stud pitchers Bieber and Yesavage to carry on their genius pitching prowess. Hopefully a clinching game 6 Championship Homerun from him. His Joe Carter moment “touch ‘em all Vlad” Lets go Jays 🙏

They changed the rules so they can't lose the DH, but him as an opener would allow him to warm up without going to the bullpen during the game. Game 7 kind of terrifies me because it takes their bullpen away. Ohtani, glasnow, snell, sasaki would be tough. So, yea let's get to Yamamoto. Stangstag 1

Yeah if it goes to Game 7 then the Dodgers will just stack up their non-Yamamoto starters along with Sasaki for the entire game, while the Jays go with Max who has been solid in his last 2 starts but not sure I'd be super confident with him on the mound. Game 6 is huge. Hopefully they get better results against Yamamoto and Gausman has one more good start in him.

I was listening to rates and barrels and they were saying his command was near perfect in game 2. Like average placement was like a half inch from edge of zone. If has just a good command day rather than excellent, i think we can get him. And Gausman is capable of holding up.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 The Jays had never seen Yama before, now they’re seeing him for the second time this week. I know the same was true for the Dodgers and Yesavage but it is still advantage hitters in this instance

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 The orher positive is that our starters have been mostly very good and their offense is really struggling too. Ohtani has only has a couple of good games offensively (although the good ones have been phenomenal). Betts doesn't look like himself at all. And the bottom of their lineup is garbage no matter who they plug in. Hopefully that keeps up.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 A game 7 I would start a LHRP as an opener, then go to Scherzer for the middle and bottom of the LA order. Batter by batter from that point.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Let's of media people taking about how much they'd like to see Don Mattingly "win a world series ring" No diestepct just honestly. How much would it mean to a person winning one as a bench coach after never being able to win one as a player or manager with dozens of unsuccessful seasons.
