I feel like someone in the stats department is running the numbers on IKF from his career and not the last 2 seasons when he lost the ability to hit lefties. Otherwise, this lineup seems fine.

Ya I hate seeing numbers too far from the past.  The stat nerds seem to think players are robots who perform the same year to year.

The infield defense with Barger at 3B would be relatively the same.  The Jays could have also upgraded their OF defense with Straw or Lukes since theyre going against a fly ball team.

Some people will always selectively pull numbers to help support their narrative.  Anyways, we won with IKF doing nothing last game so let's hope we can do the same today.

Ernie does rate as a significantly better defender than Barger at 3rd, so while I do agree that I would keep IKF on the bench, I do see the logic of having an air tight infield with IKF in there.

To be fair - you have no idea what numbers the nerds are using or why this decision was made.  Would it kill you to put some faith in the team that had the best record in the AL this year and who's 2-0 in the playoffs?

You should look at it like this... I agree with 99% of their moves since this is the only one im calling out.

I did end my comments on "we won with IKF doing nothing last game so let's do it again" lol

Totally fair, I disagree I hate losing in the playoffs and I hate it more the deeper we go, but at least you answered me like an adult instead of an unhinged lunatic looking for a fight so thank you for that.

You're supposed to hate it more the deeper you go, that's why sports is such a giant pain in the ass.

The closer you get to the goal and lose, the more it hurts, and the more it makes you want to come back for more next year, and get further. The mindset of wanting to lose early to avoid pain is the real loser mindset. It's just a ******** coping mechanism.

The last time the Jays won the World Series, it had already been 26 years since the Leafs lifted the cup...

1B Vladdy

2B IKF

SS Gimenez

3B Clement

That's about as good a defensive infield as any team can put out there.  I don't like the 8/9 lineup result but that defense is awesome.

Yea like JFK said “we chose to go to the moon not because it’s hard, but because we can”

winning a World Series is harder than going to the moon.

They are saying they did it on 1960s tech so I would assume weekly with all the advancements we’ve made

I love the luxury the Jays have to make adjustments to the lineup every game according to the pitcher they face.

Doesn’t mean it won’t be effective tonight but the Yankees are starting the game with the exact lineup they used the last 2 games…

Yeah its almost perfect, I’d probably have Straw in there over IKF considering that LF/CF can play quite large in Yankee stadium. I guess management prefers a stronger right side of the infield with all the lefties.

Schneider will have 1 diving catch tonight

We might have to pull off some big double plays tonight with Bieber on the bump.  I think Atkins and company have it drawn up just right.

Let's Go Jays.

I personally gain nothing as a fan going through a more painful process. It doesn't make me want it more or less. I always want to win and only win. Maybe it's different for the players. Any tournament I ever played, it only hurt more the deeper we went. Just the way I feel about it. So there's really no benefit to me personally going deeper into any tournament that I don't win, as a fan or as a participant.

The loser mindset I was talking about was people being more concerned about losing to the Yankees than losing to another team. That's kind of a separate argument.
