The Yarborough, Lovelady decisions could not have gone worse.

- Yarbro cut because "don't need two long men" 

- Yarbro immediately signed by division rival to MLB deal 

- Lovelady loses a game himself 

- Lovelady cut after being directly responsible for said loss 

- Scherzer hurt, Yariel to the rotation, now the Jays have no long man

This pitching staff is in serious trouble. Gausman is probably a 2 at this point. Bassit and Berrios are both 4th starters. Jury out on Francis. Hoffman and Garcia the only two reliable arms in the pen.

Aggressive promotions early, and pray.

Bloss, Fluharty, Yesavage promote them all

Probably not much of a choice. Bloss would be next man up in the rotation if any of the current 5 go down.

I think you nailed it on the Yarbrough situation. Seems it was a “doing a favor” move by letting him go to the Yankees. I seem to recall the front office being a little too… player friendly in situations in the past, to the team’s detriment.

Obviously the Yarbrough situation is miniscule in terms of the overall record, but right now its looking like a mistake.

Attendance is always kinda crappy in April, this is nothing new.

Yeah usually not great but getting 27K for the first Saturday is pretty bad. Last few years it was mid 30s I'd say.

You would hope not, but he's only 22.  He was clearly better than lovelady in spring.  The only thing I can think of is service time.
