If you were on the Bachelor and there were 5 girls remaining that you had to go on hometown dates with before the elimination rose ceremony.

Would go on a date with the girl you like the most, first, last or in the middle??

Can someone please explain how this works? Is there a limit teams can offer him? Are all teams on an even playing field when it comes to money? What approx will his contract look like in terms of money and years?

Everything you need to know about Sasaki's signing process

How much can he sign for?

At age 23, Sasaki is subject to international bonus pool money restrictions, as he’s under 25 and has less than six seasons of service time in a foreign league recognized by MLB. So we won’t be seeing a Yamamoto type of deal here (12 years, $325 million). This is similar to when Ohtani came here in 2017, when he received a bonus of $2.3 million from the Angels.

When is he eligible to sign with an MLB team?

All 30 MLB clubs have 45 days to negotiate with a player after he is posted. If no agreement is reached in that timeframe, the player returns to his NPB club for the coming season. He cannot be posted again until the following offseason.

The limit is essentially the amount of international bonus money available. This is relative peanuts compared to the money that he would get as a non amateur free agent. Think Ohtani's first signing with the Angels versus the deal that Yamamoto got.

International bonus pool will range in the ~$6-7M(?) per year, total, for a single international signing period, which resets each year. Teams can trade for additional pool money, but generally this is like +$1-2M max. It's not really a question of money. Sasaki is doing this because he wants to come to the MLB ASAP and face the best competition available, not because he's looking to maximize his earning potential.

After he comes over, he'll be subject to the same team control that your typical top prospect making his debut gets, 2-3 years at league minimum followed by 3-4 years of arbitration (depending on Super 2 status), where the team has all the power.

Sasaki is as even a playing field as you can get in terms of money in this league. It's like if the #1 pick in the MLB draft could choose where he wanted to play, with every team having roughly equal amounts of bonus available to spend on him and other draft picks.

We can only hope that the political turmoil and armageddon-type fires are casting southern CA in a bad light.  Its not much to cling to I'll admit and I'm not holding my breath.  But man, the potential that dude has to breathe life into an otherwise flailing organization is insane.

Dodgers are scooping him no doubt.

I say Padres. He has strong like Bull connection with Darvish and went to a Padres playoff game in the fall..

He had bad experiences with media in Japan. I think he wants a smaller media market. West coast, great weather and location, his bro Darvish.

SD, LAD, Jays in that order IMO.

The pitching coach in SD is legit too.  Will help development.  He was the guy behind all of the Indians success over the last decade +

But our guy got a DUI so that evens things out

Not sure if this was brought up , but do you think the LA fires and all the disputes around them can affect his decision?

Something like i much rather be in Canada then California ?

Just curious what posters  think

Zero chance... The fires are way closer to the north/west part anyways.

Not like Canada and Toronto aren't without their own issues lol.

Canada doesn’t even have a Prime Minister.  He would also have to go to some special store to get Saki and Sappo beer and deal with bagged milk and leaning to one side when he walks due to his pocket being weighed down with Looneys.
