Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 Should we look that no extension was worked out as a bad sign or no sign? Trying to adjust a panic meter for a friend lol

They now have about a month to get it resolved. max silver and G-Snarls 2
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 Kirky signed at 4.6M by the way.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 I guess the Jays had to wait until they were both done at the all you can eat buffet before they would accept their offers. Blue balls, wilko and Jays24 3

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 Well, it shows that they are talking at least.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 SOURCE: The #BlueJays plan to make a second contract extension offer to Vladimir Guerrero Jr., which will be very close to what the player is looking for. That's Hector Gomez on X Not sure how to embed tweets on here yet

The LTP is actually lower unless you assume the Lauer's of the team are a lock to make the team. I much prefer spotrac which shows the break down of every player. They have us at 219. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/toronto-blue-jays/tax Eat My Shatkins 1

glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 What's interesting is that Vlad took a lower than projected 2025 salary, so if by some chance they actually do agree to an extension, then the extension doesn't reflect in the CBT calculation until 2026. I mean it's only like a $1-2M savings for CBT purposes, but still a benefit when it comes to adding to the 2025 team. Vlad could have easily haggled over that amount and gone to arbitration (and probably won) but he settled for less. Whether that's a sign of an extension being possible or whether Vlad just wanted to avoid arbitration again knowing he'll get his money next year regardless is the question. Spanky99 1

This is why I mentioned the extension last night, it's certainly probable. A good sign at minimum.

Having an opt out when Vladdy is 31-32 might not be a bad thing.
