Much more interested to see how Francis responds to traffic. These hits have both been unlucky.

There's your answer!

Francis developing into a capable back of the rotation starter would be a great outcome during this lost season. Need to see this over an extended sample though.

He could potentially be fantastic as a swingman if that splitter continues to develop. He will definitely get the rest of this year in the rotation which will be a really good look for them. Would think they want to look at Bloss in the rotation at some point as well.

Bowden Francis coming out party.

Three GREAT starts in a row and four good ones.

He's becoming a story

Don't know how he'd play against some good hitters, but I'm still happy with recent outings. Looks like he turned a corner.

I can't believe they are playing Loperfido every day.

Guy is costing us a chance at playoffs.

What a bunch of morons the Jays are lol

Nice to have some competition and depth for the No. 5 spot during Spring Training. Looks like Bowden Francis, Alek Manoah (if he's healthy), Yariel Rodriguez, Adam Macko, Jake Bloss might all compete for the last spot in the rotation. Whoever loses out is depth at Buffalo which is nice to have.

Let's hope the Jays do sign a #1/2 starter this offseason.

Y-Rod can't be optioned, he'll be the guy.

I figure 4-5 starts against good hitters would help. This is one and a good one.

Dude, he faced the Orioles twice in four starts in the MLB, his last 25 innings have been excellent, period.

Personally - I don't see this happening. I think they'll roll it back with Gausman as the #1, Berrios & Bassitt as the inning eaters. I think there's a possibility we add another arm to the mix to push Yariel to #5, Francis to #6, Bloss #7, Macko #8 and Manoah/Ricky to "maybe at some point" depth. People will still cry about the depth, but that isn't bad at all. I don't think we see a Burnes or a Snell.

I could see one of the following: Severino, Cobb, Pivetta, Eovaldi (if he gets the player option and opts out) or maybe Kikuchi. I would expect they sign someone on a shorter terms deal (3 years max). Time will tell though.

Already spending too much on pitching. Having four FA contracts in the rotation would be gross. But they probably have to.

Pathetic

Yeah one of those other arms on shorter term deals would be solid pickups as well if they decide not to spend big on someone like Burnes or Snell. Eovaldi would be really nice or bringing back Kikuchi.

I think to do that, they'd look to move Bassitt.

I don't think they're looking at Francis as the long man in the pen when he's showing this well. Neither he nor Yariel can be optioned next season so both will be on the club.

My money is on the rotation being either...a) exactly as it looks now, or B) trading Bassitt to sign one of the higher FAs, and the 4/5 is still Yariel and Francis.

Bloss is the 6, sign some depth guy on minor league deal for the 7, Macko the 8....Manoah and Ricky T won't even be ready for the start of the season so, they won't factor in right away.

Yeah they really have no choice.

At least Bassitt only has one-year remaining and Gausman's salary is still very reasonable. Berrios contract though ugh.

Sign someone from the second tier of FA arms (Eovaldi, Severino, Kikuchi, Pivetta) on a shorter term deal as a No 2/3 and the rotation should be fine. Hopefully Gausman returns to elite form and Bassitt/Berrios just continue to eat innings. I think they have enough depth/arms for the No. 5 spot or if injuries occur. Also, can always sign a swing-man like Nick Martinez or Jake Junis who can either start or pitch multiple innings out of the pen.

Nick Martinez has a 2.4 fWAR in 34 games and 8 starts this season. WTF? Is he that good?

0.93 BB/9 is quite impressive in 97 innings!

At least Yrod makes peanuts relative to most FA starter signings.

The only pitcher in history to go to from Petco to GABP and somehow cut his HR/FB rate by 60%
