Goldschmidt is at 61.8 bWAR, 7 more than his fWAR numbers and I think people tend to grant players after their career whichever number is higher. Once you're in the 60s these days I think you've got a real strong candidacy. He's got 4 GGs and 5 Silver Sluggers along with an MVP and three other top three MVP finishes.

45 bWAR for his 7 year peak, he was not an accumulator he was incredibly elite at peak. So I think he's going to get in eventually.

Arenado is more borderline, he needs like two or three more decent seasons to hit 60 WAR.

Harper has a surprisingly low peak, because he's had one true peak season two elite seasons, one injury shortened one that could have been great, and outside of that a bunch of very good but not great seasons. This one should add to his peak totals. But he may accumulate enough good seasons to add up.

Judge is opposite of Harper, just an incredible peak at this point, it makes no difference how late he started his 7 year peak will better than most HOF players.

Arenado seems like the kind of player that will get in despite his WAR perhaps falling short

What did St. Louis do to Jordan Walker? 85 wRC+ in AAA? Did they ruin him?

Not even god knows what any individual player will do year to year. Did St. Louise ruin Jordan Walker? Did Jordan Walker ruin Jordan Walker? Did an injury ruin Jordan Walker? Did god ruin Jordan Walker?

No idea.

I think the reason you see this 'ruined' narrative around the Jays though, is just the multiple sort of ruined players. Like if God is doing it randomly some should go up and some should go down, but when they all go down together it seems strange.

Maybe god hates Blue Jays fans. Maybe there is one or two terrible human beings that are Blue Jays fans, and god hates them so is punishing them.

Maybe Mattingly gave them all batting tips that only work if it's 1985 and you have 99.999th percentile hand eye coordination.

Who knows. (I assume you were giving a little passive aggressive jab at the 'blue jays ruined everyone' narrative... thus why the long rambling reply).

I think Jose Ramirez is going end up a bit like Beltre, in that people are going to look at him in his mid-late 30s and realize he low key had a slam-dunk HoF career.

He has a bunch of interesting accolades, but I like that he has a real chance to become the 9th player ever with 300 HR and 300 SB. The others:

Barry Bonds

Bobbby Bonds

A-Rod

Willie Mays

Reggie Sanders

Carlos Beltran

Andre Dawson

Steve Finley

4 of those guys are in the HoF. Two more should be.

He'd be only the second infielder in history to do it. Just a really unique player.

Ramirez looks like a guy that just got a heart transplant. His face doesn't match his body.

I wonder who the Yanks are going to punt form the rotation? Stroman has to be the front runner no?

Nobody yet. Cody Poteet has been starting games for them with Schmidt out a few months.

Ah yeah, hadn't seen that....and he's 3-0 in 4 starts with a 2.14 ERA (4.34 xFIP / 5.57 K/9 / 3.00 BB/9)

Of course he is.

Like seriously, every single thing the Yankees touch this seasons turns into f***ing gold. Unbelievable.

I can't wait for some of this ******** to come crashing back down to earth. I mean, they have a decent team....but the best team in baseball and without Cole to boot?

It must be their incredible coaching staff. Their pitching and hitting coaches all need big fat raises.

Imagine having a staff full of guys who can actually bring value to the players, meanwhile we’re rolling with drunk Pete and the old Miami Marlins manager

Imagine making Brito Vasquez and Thorpe look like big leaguers so you could trade them along with a middle reliever who you turned into a good SP and get Juan Soto back

Plus the Yankees have always been good at pitching development. They’ve always identified or built really good pen arms and some SP prospects too

Then they traded for the best hitter in the league to hit in front of another one of the best hitters in the league

Stanton is found money but every team winds up with a player over performing

All without Gerrit Cole

Honestly, all of you guys are annoying at this point and basically ruining the forum with the same back and forth across every thread for months straight.

But to answer the question: Brownie's snark might be bannable depending on the context. That type of post is legit annoying. You calling out the moderation is definitely bannable.

I call out in good fun, my friend. Also, being reasonable and while annoying, it should be noted that the Bluejays not hitting for s*** has gone on for months and months, therefore kind of presenting a recurring theme

The Yankees always do this. They pretty much never trade a good prospect. And their guys are always overrated. Even Spencer Jones looks awful this year

Speaking of Ernie all 165 pounds of him has an ISO 32 points higher and a SLG 28 points higher than Vlad lol

If you took one of the all-time hitters like Miggy or Pujols and made him play his entire career with a fungo bat, he would probably look a lot like Vlad

I don't know. He hits the ball hard. He is Pujols. He is the same as Pujols except ground ball percentage 10% higher and I assume launch angle non-optimal for other hits.

Like if you shifted his launch angle everything would be fine. He'd win the triple crown.

It's the old joke but it is true

1. 109 mph -1 degrees double play

2. 111 mph 10 degrees line out right field

3. 109 mph 28 degrees fly out center field (bad spin)

4. 110 mph 22 degrees line drive single off center field fence

1/4 with a single

You raise the launch angle 5 degrees and fix the spin thing it is 4/4 with 2 homers and a double

Just looking for some consistency with repetitive positing. You made your point like two months ago. I’m even in total agreement with you on what you’re saying there. The horse is dead

Ernie Clement

1. 93 mph -1 degrees fielder choice

2. 95 mph 11 degrees (pulled) double down left field line

3. 91 mph 40 degrees pop-fly short center (out)

4. 97 mph 32 degrees homerun left field (371 feet pulled into bullpen)

2/4 with a homer and a double.

Yeah, there's a good chance it is the Yankees coaching/development, at least on pitching side. They legit develop no name RP's every season, and have had success on the SP side as well (King who they traded, Gil, Schmidt, Cortes, etc). Not sure about their track record on the hitting side, certainly Judge is a huge success, but there's been some busts (Sanchez, Bird). I think Volpe is going to be good (though overrated), and Dominguez probably will be really good.

Yup seems like they’ve been pumping good arms out for a while. Gil is obviously a revelation but they’ve turned out really good relievers for a while now
