Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Did anyone see the way the Orioles/White Sox game ended last night? That might have been the worst call I've ever seen and I'm not exaggerating.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I wasn’t looking until you said something IDGAF I wasn't either until I was watching baseball highlights on TSN lol
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Did anyone see the way the Orioles/White Sox game ended last night? Don't get why they couldn't just review that stupid ass call so it could be reversed.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Houston was 10-20 on May 1st and in last place in the AL west, they will probably win that division I bet. They've gone 12-8 since, which isn't mind blowing and they're only 4.5 games back of the division leading M's Every team in that division currently with a negative run diff
infinitebook Verified Member Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Even if it is interference, it seems ridiculous that it can result in 2 outs in a play that was only going to be 1. Would the smart thing to do then after the interference was called was for the Chicago player to chase down the fielder and tackle him before he can catch it

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 So let me get this straight! Daulton Varsho has to try and run to third and get thrown out for the ump to call interference on an infielder who actually blocks his path and prevents him from getting to third??? But that clip is interference on the baserunner even though it was incidental, minor, and had no actual effect on the play!? Funny how it was the O's on the other side of both plays. Conspiracy

(though even if it did, calling that interference is crazy)
Masterbather Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Well that's just it If it's an infield fly nothing else that happens on the play matters does it??? (though even if it did, calling that interference is crazy) Although you don't have to catch the ball on an infield fly, the results of the fly ball are still in play, so if the ball hits the ground it could allow the base runners to advance, so catching the fly ball or at least making a play on it still matters. The problem is with the interference rule itself requiring an automatic out of the player interfering. There should be some leeway there for the umpires to make a judgment call. The interference here, which by the way was a truly terrible interference call, did not reasonably change anything because the play was made as expected and nobody advanced on a play that nobody was going to advance on anyway. There's no reason to call the runner out.

As long as the Astros rotation stays healthy, I think they should be fine. Back end of the bullpen has settled in nicely now as well. They're not a 10-20 team like they showed over the first month.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 unintentional interference by a runner is still interference unless the runner is on the bag, kinda sucks because IF was called the same time as the interference call. Side note.......an old friend is in this video LOL I'm sure this will be discussed by umpires - might be a first time for this

I saw that as well but didn't read the details......batter runner was out but the base runners were still part of a live play. Really odd call though
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 The Padres sure love to wear those loud city connect jerseys
Masterbather Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Apparently the league has officially said it was the wrong call and should have been only 1 out. Where did you read this? I still see it as two outs I just think it was a soft call on the interference.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Cowser robbed Tommy Pham of a HR to end the game from the White Sox haha. Damn those Orioles getting some lucky breaks two nights in a row.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Stanton with 13 HR's, 29 RBI, 0.6 WAR and a .246/.295/.520 slash line thus far in 46 games. Looks like he could have a 30-40 HR season if he stays on the field. Jays could definitely use a power bat like his.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 We get it What were they supposed to do trade for Stanton? Just said they could have used a bat like him. As well, definitely a nice comeback season from Stanton if he stays healthy. He looked toast last season. Also, there was discussion on this board about him being the next bat to reach 500+ HR's. He probably accomplishes that feat in 2026 if he stays on the field and would be 36 that season. 600 could still be in reach but he needs to average 30-40 HR's over the next 6 to 7 seasons.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Jo Adell was very seriously considered of being a DFA at the end of ST. He was absolutely not in LAAs plans. He would’ve cost someone that probably doesn’t even make the majors.

Could have been had for nothing as well at the end of ST. 4 HR, 12 RBI and a .267/.362/.517 slashline with a 149 wRC+ and 0.6 fWAR in 21 games.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Kevin Smith getting another cup of coffee in the majors This time with the Yanks
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 May 25th an Jose Ramirez has 51 RBIs If only he was our 3B
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Kevin Smith getting another cup of coffee in the majors This time with the Yanks He’s probably hoping to showcase his skills for that next 2/15m deal
