I thought John Schneider did well making pitching changes today. The pen did their part. The bats got to wake up tomorrow becuase you know Berrios is gonna allow a few runs.

.277 xba for the jays

.206 xba for the twins

Chapman doesn't skip chest day last week and we would've won the game

A lot of discussions though about xba being flawed because of spray direction and other factors. Talked a lot this year about players like Kendry Morales, the older version of Pujols and Cabrera, Vlad and Chapman under-performing the expected stats. Too many long outs to centerfield not a fluke... Not saying I totally believe it, but this year I've for sure heard more people wondering if spray direction isn't random, and the stats need to be broken down a bit more, like pulled ground balls versus pulled fly balls and stuff.

Yeah that was a tough loss and seems to match the eye test.

just from watching the games Twins got shut down outside of their one gimped player running into two home runs, s*** happens.

Celebrating like they won the world series just to get knock out in 2games AGAIN. Like you think they would of toned it down this year after making fools out of them self last year acting like they won the division or World series. It will be truly epic fail if they lose again in 2 dejavu. Fire Schnieder to the Sun if they lose. And not the Mustache one:)

This will be embarrassing if we lose the first 2 considering we tanked the last game, even though the result of our game didn't matter. The rays struggled today against the rangers who might actually be a good team again.

Chapman and Leclerc are good BP options. Definitely lacking other than that, but if they get good efforts from SP, they will be tough to bounce. I think Tampa is cooked

Do you think Joe Siddall would be on the broadcast if he played mens college softball? I rest my case.

You're stating the obvious - I mean it's Rogers

Montgomery always gives them a chance. But do they have enough beyond him is the question.

Twins had a 93 win run differential, led the league with 233 homers, and have 2 good starters and a lights out closer. I think Jays and twins are equivalent over 162 and Twins might have an actual advantage in a 3 game series.

They have three really good SPs.

Eovaldi is the question mark. I’ve always liked him but he’s looked bad since coming back. Gray is a coin flip. They’ll need him to not be bad

I'm ok with Bo taking a chance on that - Correa made a gem of a play came across the diamond, fielded the ball and threw a strike home

You can say the same thing about half the playoff wins in Blue Jays history. Yeah if Vlad Guerrero pulled a fastball 400 feet, and connected with another 400 feet oppo Jays win instead of Twins, but it didn't happen that way.

At some point you need one of these guys to hit a couple of homers in a playoff game... Though I guess that did happen with Hernandez last year. So you need someone to connect for power in a playoff game that doesn't feature an epic bullpen meltdown.

Let's be honest with ourselves. We all knew Minnesota would break their streak in game 1 against the Jays. We also knew our pitching would be solid and our offence abysmal. This was the most predictable game ever.

Which one are you thinking is good? Actually looking at Twins rotation Ryan, Ober, and Maeda all look competent. Twins actually could go somewhere.

I understand the Trop is jinxed for the Jays, and Rays won 99, but wishing for the Twins was dumb too. Wishing for one team always goes bad in the playoffs.

especially with chapman on deck with bases load and 2 out

As I predicted, they barely make it to the WC, but winning can be a huge undertaking especially when they have proven that they have difficulty driving runs all season long.

They should have fired Guillermo Martinez and Hudgens before the All Star game.

Overall, not a surprise for a one dimensional team. Atkins never thought that building a contending team requires two facets, offense and defense. He only read the front page of his analytics sheet, didnÂ’t realize it is a double sided page.

Agree with this 100%. Jays were #1 in HRs in 2021, and it's not like their roster changed that much. This year Jays were 16th in HRs. It really does feel like an approach thing

Well Teo and LGJ combined for 50 this year and we lost Semien who hit 45 in 2021. Thats quite a few changes and dingers.

On top of that Vlad was 6.8 WAR that year with 48. He was a 1 WAR player in '23 and completely different in terms of value.

What happened today is no anomaly. Sure, if Chappy hits hit out or it goes off the wall we score a couple more. But he didn't. He has made a lot of outs to deep parts of parks all season. Bo trying to score on Correa's arm running through the stop sign 3 down didn't help.

Did Jamie Campbell play ball? No he didn't & yet you don't seem to take exception to him being on the broadcast. How about you go f*** yourself you misogynist prick.

For some reason power was significantly up across the league in 2023, but Jays stayed flat from 2022. I think it's a bit of both tbh, losing some big names but also approach. Or maybe other teams are evolving their approach and the Jays aren't

Would be interesting to know the pull/launch angle rates. Feels like the Jays hit a lot of deep center flies this season that would be HRs if pulled
