any young team sucking after sitting for a week is very predictable.

Bradish wasn’t great but didn’t lose it for them. Sticks didn’t do their job. Grayson was a big disappointment. I didn’t see that coming but I’m a fanboy. Tonight isn’t surprising

Well I don’t think they need to. Of course it would be preferable to trading away prospects. But that’s probably the way they’ll go. I think they add a SP of note. Not sure who would be up for grabs. Not sure TB trades to AL East, otherwise Glasnow obvious choice

Don’t think they need to?? Yet the Jays need to add another all-star… hmmm

Did you miss the part where they have a generational player coming? I personally think Grayson will be a stud next year too. They are due to get a lot better doing nothing than the Jays are. I think they need to trade for a SP though.

They're also losing Felix Bautista, who was worth anywhere from 3-5 wins, depending on what flavour of WAR/WPA you want to use to value relievers.

Did you miss the part where their rotation is a wet paper bag, they’ve lost their elite closer, and they extremely overperformed this year?

100%

And their starters are so lacklustre that it won’t be hard to find a couple starters who are better than what they’re rolling out right now

Yeah the Orioles won 100 games this season without even trying to compete in the off season or the trade deadline. Their run isn't close to being over. Of course if their ownership doesn't want to spend on pitching, and their GM doesn't want to trade prospects for pitching, then they might run into similar issues in the playoffs.

Reminds me of the Blue Jays circa 2020. Multiple generational talents at the ML level, Teo and LGR breaking out, Biggio was a stud, a host of can't miss prospects on the way in Pearson, Manoah, Moreno, Groshans, SWR, Kirk. Life was good.

Adley, Gunner, Jackson >>>> Bo, Vlad, Biggio

Not debatable. They still have s***** pitching though. They have the assets to trade for some just haven’t yet. They also haven’t spent any money yet either will be interesting to see if they do.

They are set up quite well

It’s not far off from the Jays. They just need to nab a guy on same level of say, Bassitt. Very doable. So:

Bradish, Grayson, Player X, Means, Kremer

It would definitely be better if they got someone that is a legit #2 but I think it’ll have to be on trade market

AL Least...amirite?

Longest active playoff losing streaks:

Tampa 7

Jays 7

Orioles 7

They should be able to trade for one and add salary. Honestly not sure any team is theoretically set up better than they are. But they need to commit and we’ll have to see how it all plays out

That's what they said last year and they ended up with Kyle Gibson as their big offseason acquisition

Adding Kyle Gibson, James McCann, Adam Frazier, and Cole Irvin to a young team that broke out with 83 wins, and then calling it an offseason is worse than anything the Rays have done. I have no idea how anyone can expect any level of commitment from the Angelos family. I'll be moderately surprised if they don't kick the offseason off by shedding Santander and his expected 13M arb salary.

You’re right, except Baltimore’s ownership won’t be paying what needed to get the higher end arms, they’ll sign the 4s and 5s (plenty to choose from this off-season) like they did with Gibson and just hope to outhit the opposition.

What’s more likely with Baltimore is they find a team with excess young starting pitching prospects who needs a young position player prospect and swing a deal.

Rangers look like a really complete team, especially if Scherzer comes back healthy.

Pretty close to it yup. I’d still say the Braves are better but it’s not a huge gap.

There is zero chance they "pour gas on that thing." The Astros run a pretty high payroll and I don't see the Orioles coming anywhere close to that. Angelos has already signaled that major extensions are out of the question.

"Let's say we sat down and showed you the financials for the Orioles," Angelos said in the interview. "You will quickly see that when people talk about giving this player $200 million, that player $150 million, we would be so financially underwater that you'd have to raise the prices massively.

The O's could still contend during a multi-year period nonetheless. They have enough young talent. But they could also take a step back. If their luck normalized, that alone would shave 7-10 wins off. Not picking at the top of the draft anymore could also hurt. And they have some of the worst ownership in sports which I think people can often underrate how important that can be.

Not many teams perpetually contend with low payrolls. The Rays seem to be the only one but I would say that they have a pretty good owner despite the low payrolls. He is very smart.

If the Rangers had a good bullpen this year they probably would have won 95-100 games.

On top of it they got swept so now the Orioles Fanboys of the board can't say they have more playoff wins than Vlad and Bo. It won't stop them from saying they have more AL East titles but still.
